Great for our anniversary. Our appetizers and bread were knock-your-socks-off good, and the main dishes were delicious
One of our favorites.
Waverly is so beautiful. The food so delicious. The staff to attentive and great. I love the old world atmosphere inside-- quintessentially New York. Everything done to perfection-- truly is a special place, always wonderful.
I always love the Waverly Inn. The wall murals are a joy of color and craziness, the booths comfortable, the crowd interesting, and the food, rather traditional, is still just right -- if a bit heavy for those of the dieting set.
We had an increasingly humorless waitress this time around, not bad, just maybe unhappy about something as the night went on.
It may have been our table: We had two guests who did not drink alcohol and who shared a meal. Perhaps that made her lose her enthusiasm for us as the night wore on. Still, we didn't sit for a long time, and frankly, my fiance and I go there all the time with friends and we all eat and drink ourselves silly. So all in all, not a great reason to get an attitude -- but again, usually the staff are friendly and helpful.
Chicken pot pie was everything news article said it would be (sorry, I don't remember source)! My picky husband was very satisfied. Will go again!
A wonderful place to be on any occasion. Excellent service, old world charm and good food.
Made reservations for a romantic dinner with my partner. We waited 30 min for our table after having reservations. The bar tender was not friendly and very rude at the bar. Sat down to dinner and our waiter was exceedingly rude to us including the tables around us. Made smart remarks towards me and my partner and treated us like we were a major inconvenience. When we received our entrees’ my partners burger had pieces of bone and cartilage in it. The waiter didn’t seem phased by it and continued to be rude to us, all the way through paying the bill. I have been to Waverly many many times and I have never experienced such horrible rude service and the food didn’t make up for it. Really disappointed as this was a local favorite
Excellent. A great first experience for us.
Service was amazing and the ambience was perfect for a date!
The Waverly inn had good, not great food. Most dishes were grossly overpriced and came with a horrible attitude from servers. Come here if you're looking for overpriced ~average~ food because you need a last minute reservation.
Heard good things about this restaurant. It's romantic and a very nice setting, old Victorian style home. Went for our ten year anniversary. Tables are very close together, both of our seats were extremely cramped. They definitely use every square inch of the home for seating to maximize covers. Table next to us was very loud so it's not an intimate or private experience in any way. Food was average, overpriced for quality. Had salmon, Dover Sole, Salad.. Would not go back.
We had the NY Prime Steak and Pork Chop and both were delicious!
Great! Tim our waiter was excellent on all fronts
One of our favorite places when in NYC. Great ambience, service and food.
Wonderful evening. The signature truffle mac and cheese stood out as a unique dining experience.
OMG! One of my very FAVORITE places in the West Village/Manhattan. From the welcoming and adorable hostess, the wonderfully sweet and accommodating waiters, the warm, historical and lovely ambiance to the delicious food itself. It is a gem. We loved every bite of our meals, but the best was the bananas foster for dessert! It is the best I've had! Thank you!!
My wife & I had our first date at the Waverly 37 years ago, we got engaged at the Waverly and we continue to come back...and have never been disappointed !
Fantastic food ,great and attentive waiters! A total west village experience !
Ambiance made the experience at the Waverly Inn better than anything we can talk about. Recommend to anyone New Yorker or tourist.
Wonderful food, cocktails service, atmosphere. It was a delightful night.
Despite having a reservation, we waited an hour for our table. After inquiring a few times given the wait, the hostess offered us a table in the crowded bar area, which is not what we had reserved. We decided to wait given each time they assured us tables were paying. Finally, they promised a round of drinks to accommodate the wait time when we finally sat. While the meal was pricey, but good and the waiter was helpful, when we got our bill our drinks were not covered as promised. Instead we had to ask . While the ambiance is nice, it was not worth the hassle. There are far better places to go to in New York that have the same West Village gem feel.
I have always enjoyed this restaurant, especially for its Mac and cheese and great atmosphere. A couple of nights ago our table was not ready for quite some time, had never happened before, but the staff generously compensated us with complimentary items. Very classy and worthwhile experience
Great food, wonderful wait staff and a really beautiful place. I really love going here. And its my favorite when Im in NYC
Birthday celebration. Service very attentive and waiter knowledgeable.
Lovely restaurant - fabulous wines - amazing staff , great food and wonderful ambience - can I come back please.
Always a great spot, year round. Great space, it can feel like you are going back in time. Great fireplace and atmosphere, relaxed but refined. Great menu and wine list -- superior staff and service. The food was superb and the folks there seemed determined to make certain you had a great experience. No rush. Attentive without being cloying. I happen to love the vibe, it reminds me of Cafe Des Artist.
The service was rushed; the salmon was underdone; the waitress was stiff and not personable; the vaunted hamburger was merely average
We absolutely loved it! We would return again as soon as possible. Everything was a joy. The staff the wine the food the ambiance. Tim was a wonderful waiter a s we could not ask for more. He wa polite, well spoken, well versed in the wine selection. He even recommended food that we would enjoy. It’s truly a neighborhood find and has everything to offer foodies if NYC. It wa cozy and romantic. It was perfect for converstation.
The Waverly Inn is an iconic restuarant, so it is always bustling and has a trendy crowd. I've eaten there several times - the seating indoors is great and I love the garden setting (complete with fireplace) in the back! I have to say, though, the food is definitely not as good as it was a few years ago. The crab cake appetizer leaves much to be desired, and the steak I had on this visit was cooked medium (I had requested rare). While our service was great, I was underwhelmed by the overall experience for the money.
This was possibly the best meal I have ever eaten. What a fabulous place.
Very adorable place, great for a date. And good food and service
creative along with perfectly done standards. always have tasty surprises
Always consistent service and a lovely setting for a freezing day.
The Waverly Inn is an enchanting place where one feels as though they’re stepping back in time. Imagine the number of artists, poets, and writers who have pondered away the evening here in a one of the the many cozy corners and enclaves. The ambiance: old world charm, warm, and romantic. The service: friendly, welcoming, and witty. The food: perfectly prepared, simple, and delicious- comfort food for the soul. (The sole is a must have). A very special restaurant - indeed.
Always delicious and stunningly lovely New York spot.
Charming place with good service but the food was mediocre and very overpriced.
Delicious as always
One of our favorite places in New York. Lovely setting on a cold night and super cozy. Fantastic service and great food!
Lovely interior with ivy-covered walls and multiple fireplaces, making it quite cozy feeling. The service was outstandinding - very attentive without being oppressive. However, with a limited menu and very pricey entrees, it made for a VERY expensive evening.
Don't imagine we'll return.
