The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
Overpriced for portions, even for Manhattan. Service okay, but staff in rush to clear our plates before even done despite empty dining room. Asked if had tofu. Said could give it to us only if we ordered $96 mac n cheese dish! Will only go for drinks in winter now and only because of fireplaces. Could of had 3 dinners for our two glasses of wine, soup and main dish.
I wish I knew about the option to sit the garden outside.
Great food, friendly and efficient service. Outdoor dining setup is great Will definitely be back
Great vibe. It was lively and loud and the noise was absorbed really well. Excellent service from waiter.
Rude host, didn’t acknowledge our request for seating and wasn’t friendly or welcoming. Food was horrid: Slimy and tasteless pasta, rock shrimp seemed frozen. Pot pie was tiny and also flavorless. So disappointing for a special occasion especially. This was always my go-to but has fallen apart. Maybe it was a one-off but I won’t be going back. Owner Graydon was holding court which was cool, but also should have meant service and food would be at its best.
Absolutely wonderful - one of the most special restaurants in the city. Amazing food, magical atmosphere, great service. The hostess on the way in was the only downer - rude and brusk and not ‘Waverley Inn’ brand! Otherwise best evening of 2021 so far :)
Overall a great experience , the sommelier Harrison was fantastic.
However the wait staff did make us feel rushed to order.
This is a special place. Great food and an epic wine list. Superb west village vibe too.
Food was delicious the best amish chicken a couple of our guests had ever enjoyed
My salman was cooked perfectly and fabulous. They must a have new chef as I have been going to The Waverly for years and this is the best food yet. Ambience is cosy and lovely and chic. Service was perfect our sever was never around too much but there when we needed him. I would definitely recommend to friends and look forward to returning soon
This was my first visit to the Waverly. The waiter enthusiastically described the white burgundy and the array of oysters on offer. Three children ran back and forth along the sidewalk and a group of gentlemen drank a bottle of wine and enjoyed the parade of people passing by.
I enjoyed one of the best salmon dishes I’ve eaten in the city. The salmon was served with a pickled fennel salad on top. I chose the Welfleet oysters and a white Burgundy.
Must go. One of the best places in the city for ambiance and good food
Food was very good and love the neighborhood but the service was very poor despite the restaurant clearly having plenty of staff. There appeared to be four people at the host station who’s job it was to stand together a chat. Very disappointing.
Super vegan risotto!
The good: beautiful ambiance
The not so good: the food was ok. And the service was sparse and ambivalent.
For the price you pay to eat here, I was expecting much more.
Charming, delicious and unforgettable.
loved the atmosphere!!! can't wait to go back in the winter to sit inside next to the cozy fireplace.
Such a cute little patio out front. Attentive servers but also gave us space, we were friends catching up so that was appreciated. Fantastic experience overall
An amazing dinner with colleagues. The food and service is amazing, subtle and elegant. The location both inside snd outside makes for a perfect backdrop for great conversations and chatting.
Amazing vibes. Restaurant tucked away in a quiet part of the iconic, West Village. Great food and service. Restaurant added to my shortlist for out of town guests that want a really cool New York restaurant.
Easy reservation process. Booked our table as requested. Great wine list and food was outstanding. Even had dessert.
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. And her salmon was Fantastic!! I tried to be different and get this squid spaghetti and I regretted it. Despite that the servers, manager, busboy, host etc were all great.
Everything was great. Food, service and eating inside again was nice.
Waverly Inn is, as always, one of the cherished staples of the West Village and NYC in general. Food is always great and the service is impeccable. Plus it's so cute, inside and outside these days.
Wonderful as always
loved it, great ambience and food. cant beat the location. will be back.
We love sitting outside and enjoying your wonderful food. We brought my brother to join us. He requested a med rare burger. Had to send it back because it was way too rare. Waiter was very nice about it. Brought him back a perfectly cooked med/rare burger. We all enjoyed our experience at the inn very much!
It was our 28th anniversary: great food (including the homemade pistachio scones), impeccable service, and utterly charming setting. Thank you!
The food was delicious and service was top notch!
Poor service. Not the Waverly I remember. Overpriced living of an old legacy. Shame
Wonderful service and food!
Great ambiance, good food, excellent service. A bit pricey.
The waiter was very aloof and couldn’t bother to say thank you after he picked up the check that included the tip while we were sitting at the table. It was like he thought he did us a favor for waiting on us! I’ve dined there many times and it was the first and only time I’ve felt the server’s attitude could use improvement.
Service was terrible. Food was terrible. Experience was terrible. Will not be coming back.
Love the Waverly for a quintessential New York experience
Great service and food!
It’s my most favorite place in the city!!! Old world ambiance with a modern, classy and fun vibe.
THANK U! I love u!
Always a good spot with good food! Great ambiance.
Great food. Great service.
