The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
Always an awesome experience! Expect to pay for the experience, service and food.
We were transported out of NYC to a magical outdoor space in the heart of the West Village. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a well-deserved night away from your apartment. Food, service and ambiance were A+..
We were 4 people. .... it was Very expensive for 2 salads 2 risottos 4 glasses of wine and 2 deserts I pay $338 it just not worth it
Love the ambiance but expensive for quality offered. Had a really tiny piece of venison for $66...and it was not great
Their outdoor Seating is amazing, well done! The burger as always is the highlight - couldn’t be more perfect with a brunch cocktail! Great to see Waverly is back
Food and drinks were amazing. Ambiance was lovely. Service was very slow but probably because we came at the end of lunch hours and had a larger group than planned.
Absolutely wonderful! The setting in front of the fireplace was perfect. Our server was Brian and he was absolutely wonderful with recommending dishes and setting up the timing of the courses. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants and each time it exceeds the previous experience. Thank you!
Fantastic evening. Outdoor set up they have is awesome. Momentarily forget about daily stress of world events, with an evening at Waverly.
Really wonderful! We had a late reservation and it felt like we were being rushed out a bit towards the end of our meal, but other than that everything was great.
I have never agreed with Donald Trump on anything except his negative comments on the Waverly Inn. Overpriced and extremely disappointing. We spent over $1000 for 4 people and it was average at best. The truffle Mac and cheese was $230 and you could barely taste the limited truffles. Steak was unremarkable. Service was not friendly and we were rushed out after dinner (and told there was no time for desert) at 10:30 (we had 8:45 reservation) despite the fact that all the other restaurants in the neighborhood were still jumping as we walked home. Will not be going back.
Always outstanding food and service. A perfect authentic NYC experience.
It is fair to say that it all depends on what one is looking for. If a restaurant is only about food, this one gets good grades for presentation, but lacks in taste and even originality in interpreting classic dishes. If one is looking for a charming space, the restaurant delivers even if sitting outside on a lovely and quiet corner of the village. The fireplace room has no roof now, so if you are lucky, you can again enjoy it!
Perfect date spot! Delicious food and great service!
Burger medium well came rare, overpriced mimosa 18! And not even good. Salad 27 poor man's salad you can get at a deli anywhere in Nyc. Great ambiance but that's it. Avoid next time.
It was great!
Lovely outside dining - great service and great food!
Wonderful food, beautiful ambience in the back garden. One of the best Covid turnarounds in the city. A+.
Incredible atmosphere - super basic/mediocre food.
What a perfect place for our anniversary. Such a charming ambiance, wonderful cuisine (loved the grapefruit brulee), and superb service.
My anniversary with my wife was met with a wonderful evening of exceptional service , food that was so good , flavorful and to be in the heart of the west village , love it and I suggest people come and dine there
Always terrific food, attentive service and as nice ambience as can be expected under the circumstances
The food took forever to come out. 3 tables that arrived after us got their food before us. I did not have a good experience.
The Waverly Inn has captured a quasi-Parisienne sensibility in cosy outdoor dining. The quiet corner where Bank meets Waverly was picturesque pre-pandemic, now this ambience is all the more welcome. The staff is knowledgeable about the food and wine, and it must be said, in very good shape owing to the chasing back and forth to the kitchen. I went to brunch so encountered a limited menu...good, but brief. I'll go back for an evening meal.
Included specific reservation notes 2 days ahead of time requesting a the most sun protected table to accommodate a guest who had just completed skin cancer treatment. We arrive to find that the "only table available" had no sun/UV protection at all. The host appeared to be and told my guest that if they didn't mind WAITING that he would see what he could do about finding a more appropriate seating. Unfortunately, when people make reservations, it's usually because they do not have the option of Time to wait...my guest felt embarrassed about "making a fuss" and capitulated to the available table and thus spent their entire experience at unease.
Service was kind although lacked follow up.
Kitchen was sloppy! Shucked oysters stabbed in the guts. Ovverprived jumbo shrimp that I had to finish cleaning myself...$27 for 4 larger shrimp and I have to finish cleaning the vein and random shell pieces myself???...C'mon....just sloppy...
Probably one of the most romantic evenings I’ve had in 2020. My love came to visit from DC for his birthday, and I clearly chose wisely. We had just a simply magical evening.
We loved it!
Still good. Never disappoints
The attitude and service was despicable. We sat at 345pm and they serve brunch until 4pm. After asking various people for service they finally returned to the table after 4pm to say there was only a limited menu!
Absolutely beautiful location. I enjoyed a delicious chicken pot pie, though it was a littttle expensive considering the portion size. (It was the perfect amount for one person and I loved it... just $28 is a little steep.) But considering how nice the restaurant was, how kind the server was, and just the overall vibe... well worth it. I will definitely be back.
Still a classic! The outdoor seating set-up was the best I’ve experienced in the city so far during COVID times. Very safe and clean feeling as well.
Doing a great job during difficult times. Can't wait to return for another meal.
The food was great as was the ambiance. Service was a little spotty.
Such a cute neighborhood spot! Staff was super friendly and food was delicious. Went on a sunday morning and got a table super easy.
Ridiculously special. Thank you for a five star evening. Service, courses, setting all covidly perfect. Won’t want to return indoors! Thank you everyone.
Always sensational food. Amazing staff. Very well social distanced Lovely. So glad it’s open again
We had a wonderful experience. Food and wine were amazing. Nice romantic place
Birthday dinner — food was great as usual. Spot light came on at dusk — but hey NYC is making it work.
So glad it's open and still delicious!! A classic NY institution.
Superb outdoor dining. The waitstaff was attentive and masked. The food was wonderful.
It was a respite for us during this pandemic.
It was a bday I made sure the restaurant knew it, and they did not do anything about it
Not even a small candle cake.
The food was way basic for the price
Not worth it
