The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
Warm! Loved the outdoor experience, service was amazing. Will be back!
The waverly is so quaint and chic. Dinner biscuits are phenomenal as well as the drinks. Recommend the octopus and burrata. Try and sit in the garden if possible; more ambiance.
Took quite a while to get our champagne. Server didn’t follow up on our table under heat lamp as check in said to was OK. Had to request top ups on champagne. Could have been better service wasn’t that busy.
Excellent food for a special occasion. Great outdoors.
The food is terrible, it’s a bad pastiche of airplane food, overpriced tourist destination
I love the Waverly inn. Great ambiance and food. But the host is so pretentious and rude. It almost kills the whole experience. He wasn’t in the mood to make an effort to make sure our table was set up and seemed very bothered. Every time I go - same thing. You’re in the service business, if you don’t want to serve or accommodate - don’t work at a restaurant.
The Waverly Inn was perfect. Our waiter couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. We were celebrating our anniversary and we sat in back patio area with the fire place. It was a very romantic spot and the dinner was delicious! It was a wonderful evening.
Great even during covid
Dinner was incredible. My boyfriend and I each got different dishes, and we were just beyond impressed. We regularly enjoy fine dining, and well executed dishes. The Waverly Inn blew us both away. The celery root purée with my sea scallop dish was incredibly light, while also ringing true to the celery flavor. The roast chicken was juicy, yet compact, and perfectly cooked. We surmise it was cooked under a brick based on the consistency. Dessert was fabulous. Service was wonderful and professional. They do an excellent job with distancing tables, and respecting true outdoor dining requirements to be safe. I was impressed and happy with our special dinner. Indoors or out, The Waverly Inn is the perfect place for a special night or just a fabulous dinner on a Tuesday.
Overpriced but delicious, wait staff treated us like tourists and tried to rush us out even though many tables were empty.
Absolutely STUNNING atmosphere and amazing food/drinks. Could not have asked for more
Best hamburger I have ever had! Drinks were awesome as well and the place it’s really nice, it’s expensive but definitely worth it. For sure we’re coming back a again.
they had outdoor seating only which is understandable but there heaters were of the lowest effectiveness of any restaurant visited. The menu was modified from what was online and was extremely limited... the waiter and service was extremely slow - we never got to ordering the food... we had to leave...again VERY disappointed.
So beautiful and cozy sitting outside. Service and food were great!!!!
It’s getting too cold for outdoor unfortunately
Beautiful ambiance especially around the holidays
Great place for brunch! It is our go-to!
The brunch was excellent. We had only done dinner in the past and enjoyed the "surprise" of the menu. We had the deviled eggs with caviar to begin followed by the croissant sandwich, eggs bene and French toast. All amazing.
Always always love my experience at Waverly. It is perfect for a special occasion.
The food was great as always, but the service has really taken a dive
We went for our anniversary, ambience was beautiful, the food not so much the chicken pot pie was under done(crust) and very bland, I’ve had better pot pies at Boston market, my sea scallops were delicious but lukewarm at best. Our server was fine , she didn’t seem thrilled to be at work but I always give the wait staff a pass because everyone can have an off day, especially nowadays, unless they are blatantly rude.
Waverly Inn is a beautiful charming restaurant and the food and service fantastic. My only hesitation right now is that due to their very strict adherence to Covid precautions- the restaurant is very cold. You'll need coat and scarf and thick socks even for indoor dining. That does somewhat take away from the usual cozy charm.
Elegant dining in the West Village. Exceptional wine list.
Food is meh. You go for the ambiance. Service was meh. Quiet dark and sexy
Given the circumstances with Covid-19, Waverly Inn has done an incredible job of providing a wonderful dining experience.
Server wasn't that nice or attentive. Food is over priced. Ambience is good but that's about it.
Food was good, wine was great, and so was the service. Another disappointed crab-cake lover here: If that was fresh lump crabmeat, I'm the queen of Romania.
For the price I paid, bad table, heat lamp poor and very cold. The guy who check in us was rude.
I came often in the last 2 years before the pandemic and I LOVED everything.
The food was meh and the Martinis and Manhattans terrible! Need a more experienced bar guy. Super expensive so you expect at the very least great food and drinks
Thanksgiving dinner!
What a beautiful experience tonight. I usually cook for 35 people on thanksgiving. Tonight I was at like a restaurant spa. Bravo Waverly Inn for making my Thanksgiving magical. And I am a Trump supporter. Loved your quote from him. Happy Thanksgiving! 🇺🇸💫✅❤️
My favorite place in the city. Beautiful rear patio with fireplace and lovely outside seating!
Great outside, Covid comfortable setup. Server was patient and attentive.
We had the absolute best waiter! The food and service excellent as always. The ambiance (considering we're in a pandemic and outdoor in the winter seasons) was surprisingly lovely.
The staff was lovely and the food was excellent!
The only issue was that inside was very cold due to keeping doors opened - I imagine it was to comply with COVID regulations for indoor dining. Still, they need to figure something out so that guests don’t have to eat with their coats on.
Great food and excellent service particularly given it was a freezing night. Only downside was being offered the coldest table despite booking a couple of weeks before but staff were pleasant when we asked to move to a warmer table.
We went here for a birthday dinner and it couldn't have been better. Even with a monsoon of a storm coming through the west village streets, the staff continued to serve us with smiles. The food was excellent and the ambiance they've established outside was great as well. We will definitely be returning.
It was the best service and food
Excellent food and ambience! The chicken pot pie is perfect comfort food.
