The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
Waverly inn is a gem nestled in the beautiful brown stone lined streets of the west village! It’s my absolute favorite little restaurant!!
Excellent nyc spot!
Quite expensive, however it is the west village so not surprising. One of the nicest waitresses I’ve had so far. Super cute and charming vibe.
Great place, poor service
Host was lovely and accommodating- perfect table next to the ivy on a gorgeous night. Excellent food and wine. One of my top three in NYC
Felt always rushed fir a $500+ dinner.
One of my favorite places in NY!
Very expensive. Salad overdressed. Duck very rich. Underwhelmed.
I really like The Waverly Inn and so I was disappointed to receive less than acceptable service. We felt that we are an afterthought for the waiter. We were not offered before dinner drinks--the waiter wanted us to order dinner when he did make his way to our table. He seemed to be bothered by us during the dining experience. And the he did not ask if we wanted anything else during or after dinner--which we did. We had to flag down others to help us. He just brought the check. I am hoping our next visit will be better.
Great service and very accommodating with our seating arrangements
Seemed like a lot of servers were present just not a lot actually engaging customers.
Delicious and fun. Great atmosphere. Knowledge staff.
A classic spot, does not disappoint.
Great drinks and delicious food.
Amazing food, ….best burger I have had all year .. the peach & kale salad was incredible… martinis were superb.
Lovely environment with really kind staff! Great food as well.
Amazing west village classic. Food is always outstanding. Great place to people watch.
Food was good but too expensive.
The outdoor setup is outstanding. It was raining very hard but we stayed dry and the wait staff couldn’t have been better. Food was delicious After dinner we had a drink in the bar which is one of the coolest spots in the City. A great evening.
Food was great, service was not up to par at all.
A classic New York restaurant as lively and interesting as ever. Prices have gone way up since I first started going there, but hey - it's NYC.
The atmosphere is very welcoming, and it feels as if you have stepped back into another era in NYC. The service.was excellent and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the “Waverley Lemonade” which is perfect on a hot summer evening.
Everything was perfect— except we never got any of the famous biscuits we love so much! Worried they may have stopped serving them during COVID.
Patient and kind staff. Reliably spectacular food. The combination made for a wonderful experience.
Superb wine list and Jeff Harding really knows what he is doing! Excellent steak tartare. Could do without the tude at the door but love it anyway. Cheers, @winevivant
what a lovely spot! the chicken was fantastic, look forward to returning
We met our friends here and had a lovely time - thank you!
The Waverly is always great.
Service is not good and snobby. Allergies were asked at the dessert...
Overpriced for portions, even for Manhattan. Service okay, but staff in rush to clear our plates before even done despite empty dining room. Asked if had tofu. Said could give it to us only if we ordered $96 mac n cheese dish! Will only go for drinks in winter now and only because of fireplaces. Could of had 3 dinners for our two glasses of wine, soup and main dish.
I wish I knew about the option to sit the garden outside.
Great food, friendly and efficient service. Outdoor dining setup is great Will definitely be back
Great vibe. It was lively and loud and the noise was absorbed really well. Excellent service from waiter.
Rude host, didn’t acknowledge our request for seating and wasn’t friendly or welcoming. Food was horrid: Slimy and tasteless pasta, rock shrimp seemed frozen. Pot pie was tiny and also flavorless. So disappointing for a special occasion especially. This was always my go-to but has fallen apart. Maybe it was a one-off but I won’t be going back. Owner Graydon was holding court which was cool, but also should have meant service and food would be at its best.
Absolutely wonderful - one of the most special restaurants in the city. Amazing food, magical atmosphere, great service. The hostess on the way in was the only downer - rude and brusk and not ‘Waverley Inn’ brand! Otherwise best evening of 2021 so far :)
Overall a great experience , the sommelier Harrison was fantastic.
However the wait staff did make us feel rushed to order.
This is a special place. Great food and an epic wine list. Superb west village vibe too.
