The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
Great food. Great service.
Stupendous everytime. Food service and everything is perfect.
Joey at the entrance is awesome. The waiter unfortunately seemed to have an issue the entire night. Unfortunately made the experience rather annoying.
A favorite! The food and drinks were fantastic, the service was friendly and relaxed, and all in a beautiful setting.
They charged us $40 to bring our own cake and did not disclose that price on the phone when we asked. The hostess was extremely rude, and they kept messing up our drinks. The food was decent, but not enough to make up for the rest.
Just amazing food. We had the soft shell crabs -- first of the season -- and they were delicious! The interior, dim and moody with a class A mural, is a kick!
We had an amazing time!
Everything was amazing- from food to service. One of the best!
Been to Waverly Inn a few times and this was the first time I've had a "meh" experience. Our service wasn't the kindest & we constantly felt judged or like we were annoying him. Cocktails weren't good at all - we had to force ourselves to chug the drink before we left bc we didn't want to waste the $18 dollars (but what tasted like a $4 cocktail). I was a little annoyed that the drinks sat on the table all night and the server didn't even acknowledge the drinks hadn't been touched....but maybe that's just me....Had to send back a vegetable side dish as it was incredibly dry and too charred. We also had to continue to ask for water as it was never refilled. Very disappointed at my most recent experience especially considering all the past times I've been there have been great.
The food was very good but nothing special. Nice little neighborhood place. Cute outdoors.
Food was below average and overpriced. Host was kind of rude.
Absolutely terrible somm. Not only does he not know his wines, he is incredibly rude and arrogant. He completely ruined my favorite restaurant as someone that frequented often.
Perfection even on a rainy night on a sidewalk. Thanks to everyone for invisible service, and amazing veal chops .. and the biscuits and butter were dessert. Everything was choreographed as if we were the only guests. Thank you thank you thank you.
Ordered the pâté as an appetizer, came out frozen, couldn’t spread it. Politely told waiter anddddd...that was the last time we heard from our waiter until he informed us they only accept two cards. Food was horrible, service was worse. Wasted time & money. Pretentiousness doesn’t make you desirable Waverly Inn
We sat outside on the side street which was quiet and distanced and lovely. Our server was kind, friendly, and helped with recommendations. Checked in on us the perfect amount. The food was delicious all around, although we were hoping for a bit more steak tartare in the steak tartare (it had a lot of delicious onions and capers but they overpowered the meat a bit too much). Oysters were fresh and delicious, and the cocktails were excellent.
The setting of this restaurant is amazing - love dining with the picturesque streetscape of the West Village being the view. However that’s where the storybook experience ends. The service was subpar (person seating everyone was a tad rude) and the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Go if you want the setting but don’t be disappointed with the rest.
Went on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside on the outdoor dining on the street. Ordered the burger without the dijonnaise. When received the dijonnaise was on the burger. Returned and was told they had not put the dijonnaise on there. I checked a second time and it was on the bottom. Sent back a second time.
They took back and made the burger again. By then the rest of my group had already finished eating. Once I received the burger it was very good.
Ahhh he scvasv
Our server Daniel was fantastic and the staff as a whole were incredible. They were genuinely happy to have guests indoor and outdoor dining again. The food and drinks were spectacular.
Great food and service in an Old New York atmosphere.
I have never been so rushed in my entire life. I felt like they were pushing drinks/food down our throats or clearing our plates when we clearly weren't finished eating. On several occasions we had to say "we're still working that." I was not able to enjoy my food because they were constantly in our faces. We were given a 1.5 hour limit for dining and it could've been a more relaxed and enjoyable 1.5 hours, but it wasn't. Also, there was at least one table next to us who was seated at the same time but the 1.5 hour limit was enforced with them.
Waverly is creating an outstanding dining experience outside. The service remains top notch and the over table heater was perfect.
I’m assuming the pandemic has put them off their game
Amazing outdoor seating and ADORABLE open-roof garden area. Incredible service and delicious food. We will definitely be back and would 100% recommend.
Excellent service and the brunch menu was amazing! We sat in the indoor garden and it was so charming. Did spend little more than what we expected, but then again, we might have gotten carried away with ordering mimosas.
I input it was our anniversary and told them via email and they did not celebrate it for us or make it feel special. Still one of my favorite restaurants but I’m no sure if they received they message from your platform it was special occasion.
There was a very loud table across fr us. It was very vold inside which was a surprise
Like leave on your coat cold!
The duck was best ever tasted! Burger ok.
Good food and nice people :)
Excellent dining experience , with a cool eclectic clientele .
Staff and host are professional and know how to represent .
I look forward to dining again at The Waverly Inn
Amazing as always!
Another wonderful evening at the Waverly Inn. Thank you.
Garden seats on a early spring early dinner was perfect!
Our waiter had an attitude, was super rude and condescending. We requested a different waiter who was a little better but still average service. I think the treatment we got was due to discrimination. We were the only people of color in the establishment. Also, food was mediocre. Wouldn’t come back.
Ambiance is great! However, was frustrating to be so cold indoors.
Excellent people watching!
The absolute best experience here. Alex and Andrew were so kind to my step sister and me :)
Will be back very soon.
Waiter was dramatic and rude
Daniel was the best server! We had a fantastic time chatting and he gave great dating advice :) He made the already-amazing dining experience so much more fun and went above and beyond to keep us laughing all through our meal. Can’t wait to come back soon!
Last night was a cold evening, not the fault of the restaurant
