The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
An amazing dinner with colleagues. The food and service is amazing, subtle and elegant. The location both inside snd outside makes for a perfect backdrop for great conversations and chatting.
Amazing vibes. Restaurant tucked away in a quiet part of the iconic, West Village. Great food and service. Restaurant added to my shortlist for out of town guests that want a really cool New York restaurant.
Easy reservation process. Booked our table as requested. Great wine list and food was outstanding. Even had dessert.
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. And her salmon was Fantastic!! I tried to be different and get this squid spaghetti and I regretted it. Despite that the servers, manager, busboy, host etc were all great.
Everything was great. Food, service and eating inside again was nice.
Waverly Inn is, as always, one of the cherished staples of the West Village and NYC in general. Food is always great and the service is impeccable. Plus it's so cute, inside and outside these days.
Wonderful as always
loved it, great ambience and food. cant beat the location. will be back.
We love sitting outside and enjoying your wonderful food. We brought my brother to join us. He requested a med rare burger. Had to send it back because it was way too rare. Waiter was very nice about it. Brought him back a perfectly cooked med/rare burger. We all enjoyed our experience at the inn very much!
It was our 28th anniversary: great food (including the homemade pistachio scones), impeccable service, and utterly charming setting. Thank you!
The food was delicious and service was top notch!
Poor service. Not the Waverly I remember. Overpriced living of an old legacy. Shame
Wonderful service and food!
Great ambiance, good food, excellent service. A bit pricey.
The waiter was very aloof and couldn’t bother to say thank you after he picked up the check that included the tip while we were sitting at the table. It was like he thought he did us a favor for waiting on us! I’ve dined there many times and it was the first and only time I’ve felt the server’s attitude could use improvement.
Service was terrible. Food was terrible. Experience was terrible. Will not be coming back.
Love the Waverly for a quintessential New York experience
Great service and food!
It’s my most favorite place in the city!!! Old world ambiance with a modern, classy and fun vibe.
THANK U! I love u!
Always a good spot with good food! Great ambiance.
Great food. Great service.
Stupendous everytime. Food service and everything is perfect.
Joey at the entrance is awesome. The waiter unfortunately seemed to have an issue the entire night. Unfortunately made the experience rather annoying.
A favorite! The food and drinks were fantastic, the service was friendly and relaxed, and all in a beautiful setting.
They charged us $40 to bring our own cake and did not disclose that price on the phone when we asked. The hostess was extremely rude, and they kept messing up our drinks. The food was decent, but not enough to make up for the rest.
Just amazing food. We had the soft shell crabs -- first of the season -- and they were delicious! The interior, dim and moody with a class A mural, is a kick!
We had an amazing time!
Everything was amazing- from food to service. One of the best!
Been to Waverly Inn a few times and this was the first time I've had a "meh" experience. Our service wasn't the kindest & we constantly felt judged or like we were annoying him. Cocktails weren't good at all - we had to force ourselves to chug the drink before we left bc we didn't want to waste the $18 dollars (but what tasted like a $4 cocktail). I was a little annoyed that the drinks sat on the table all night and the server didn't even acknowledge the drinks hadn't been touched....but maybe that's just me....Had to send back a vegetable side dish as it was incredibly dry and too charred. We also had to continue to ask for water as it was never refilled. Very disappointed at my most recent experience especially considering all the past times I've been there have been great.
I loved eating in the garden area. The food was delicious. Just fantastic all around.
The food was very good but nothing special. Nice little neighborhood place. Cute outdoors.
Food was below average and overpriced. Host was kind of rude.
Absolutely terrible somm. Not only does he not know his wines, he is incredibly rude and arrogant. He completely ruined my favorite restaurant as someone that frequented often.
Perfection even on a rainy night on a sidewalk. Thanks to everyone for invisible service, and amazing veal chops .. and the biscuits and butter were dessert. Everything was choreographed as if we were the only guests. Thank you thank you thank you.
Ordered the pâté as an appetizer, came out frozen, couldn’t spread it. Politely told waiter anddddd...that was the last time we heard from our waiter until he informed us they only accept two cards. Food was horrible, service was worse. Wasted time & money. Pretentiousness doesn’t make you desirable Waverly Inn
We sat outside on the side street which was quiet and distanced and lovely. Our server was kind, friendly, and helped with recommendations. Checked in on us the perfect amount. The food was delicious all around, although we were hoping for a bit more steak tartare in the steak tartare (it had a lot of delicious onions and capers but they overpowered the meat a bit too much). Oysters were fresh and delicious, and the cocktails were excellent.
The setting of this restaurant is amazing - love dining with the picturesque streetscape of the West Village being the view. However that’s where the storybook experience ends. The service was subpar (person seating everyone was a tad rude) and the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Go if you want the setting but don’t be disappointed with the rest.
