The Waverly Inn
Service is really good and friendly.
Last minute reservation- turned out to be a great choice. We will be back.
Waverly Inn is good. You can always expect good service, an easy menu, good food and no surprises- consistent in every way.
Better known for its environment then it’s food ,cozy and very New York.
Once is enough for me
Just a beautiful west village charming spot that is cozy and romantic with a perfect menu for everyone.
Very lovely inside and very cozy setting. Food portions were tiny for what you are paying. Beet salad was ok. Beets could have been roasted to get that natural, sweet caramelization. I got the ricotta gnocchi with rabbit ragù. Mostly mushrooms in the sauce and 10 little gnocchi for $36. My sister had the burger which was ok but on the heavy side. I was more disappointed about how expensive it was for such small portions. I’m a restaurant owner and know what things cost and rabbit does not cost much, there may have been two tiny pieces of rabbit meat in the dish. I guess you’re paying for the ambience.
Truly the worst service and also the rudest waiters. I could not believe it, as I have heard the food was good but always not great service. It was worse than I imagined. I had to order things multiple times. Our waiter left in the middle of the meal without saying anything and then we couldn't get help for a while. They had an extreme attitude and meanness about every aspect. We left something and they were rude about us coming back. Did not help and check the table or protect the left bag with passport which was specified. They rudely said we could go back and look if we wanted after a dirty look and difficulty. I have been to the best places across the planet, very lucky. I have not had an experience like this as long as I can remember. For over $300 which is fine to me, it was truly horrifying service. I would warn people booking because they will feel judged and awful. I don't care about judgment the place is owned by my friends father. My brother in law is a head of a dept at Conde Nast. If I didn't feel secure id be particularly horrified, even more. Please insure this review is anonymous.
Everything we ordered was perfect and the staff was excellent as well! This hidden restaurant has the most amazing atmosphere in the garden room and some of the best food I've ever experienced overall. The fireplaces are also a plus.
I finally had a chance to visit this restaurant since the fire. I used to be a regular at Ye Waverly Inn and this upgrade is definitely a huge plus! The food was amazing as well as service. I will definitely be back soon!
Great place for brunch in the West Village. The room in the back is lighter and better for brunch - the interior room is sexier and darker and is better for dinner.
The food was delicious. Ambience is terrific. Really one of a kind! We loved our evening there!
I have lived in the West Village for three years and have had several lovely dinners at the Waverly Inn. I had come to see it as a special local place - to take friends to when they came into town to show off the best of the Village or, as was the case on Friday, for an indulgent date night with my boyfriend. Unfortunately, we had a really poor experience on Friday. The service, which I have normally found to be excellent, was terrible. We were greeted by a hostess who could not have looked more over it - and less hospitable - had she tried - and we were shown to our table by her colleague who was drinking a cocktail and gave off the vibe that he was very much doing us a favor. Our waiter was more pleasant and friendly but was clearly over stretched - to the point where all of the tables in our section were having to chase in orders, bread, drinks etc. throughout the evening. In the end we left after our main course as the prospect of staying any longer just seemed like too hard work. All in all, a really disappointing experience.
Please can you let me know if this will be shared with the restaurant by you. If not, I will contact them separately.
Birthday dinner for to with my spouse. We had an early reservation (Tues-6p) which afforded us some quiet conversation time which is becoming increasingly hard to find when dining out in NYC. Our waiter knew just what to do; he promptly got us some cocktails and then left us alone for 15 min so we could enjoy some alone time together in this classic atmosphere. Then once things got going, he was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive but not pushy. Our food was presented at a very comfortable, even pace and was quite tasty. For dessert we could not decide what to share from our top 2 choices, so our waiter brought both and comped one (nice touch!). Thank you Waverly Inn!
Terrible service. The server had an attitude and Was pretentious . We waited 45 min for very mediocre pancakes and not once someone came and asked how we were doing. I asked twice about our order and the reply was simply “the kitchen is busy”.
It Was a while I didn’t go there but for sure will be the last.
We met up with my cousin who lives in Soho while we were visiting NYC. She suggested The Waverly. It really doesn’t look like much from the outside and even when you first enter - you’re in a very small, dark bar area which is not very inviting. The dining room, especially the garden room are delightful, however. Try to sit in the Garden Room if you can. We all enjoyed our brunch, I particularly liked my bananas fosters French toast. Yum!
A New York City classic. Food, ambiance and service are exceptional. A little steep, but then it’s a special place
Best dinner in the best atmosphere with the best service. Will definitely be back!!
Perfect romantic evening for special occasino. Octopus and kale salad perfectly prepared as were our entrees salmon and the sea bass special. The Wine Chenin Blanc from Mexico was robust and dry. We found the staff to be both professional and humorous making our evening perfect. We will certainly go back to this beautiful spot. Book early for a calm and quiet experience.
The trainee waiter was better than the trainer. Chicken pot pie was great. Salmon too salty.
Service is awful.
This place is lovely aesthetically, but we arrived soon after they opened, with 20 minutes to go before our reservation and the place was empty - they would not seat us because we were an incomplete party and were not gracious about it. Food was tasty and waiter was nice but not worth spending $100 each. I only recommend if you have some extra cash to burn.
Server was great. Food was delicious!
Fantastic place for a date.
My must-go when I visit NYC. Because it feels like I am IN NYC when I'm here. A consistently wonderful experience with great food and service.
Waited much too long for a table, in a very small area. It was too noisy and too uncomfortable. not a great way to encourage someone to return. Also host was completely indiffernt to our concerns
Very energetic scene and great food. Not the most budget conscious place but the vibe and well prepared dishes make up for it! Truffle Mac n cheese was pretty amazing too!
Fab great charming place Thx
I booked a res for my next visit on way out the door after my 1st visit!
such a great spot
Such a fun atmosphere and great food!
Love the cozy atmosphere!
A phenomenal experience on every level. I would consider this to be my favorite restaurant in nyc. Perfect for special date night.
Lovely decor and surroundings but the outdoor area is very cold for diners in the winter.
One of my favorites....always welcoming.....can't wait to return....
My husband and I loved our date night at the Waverly Inn. We've been meaning to go forever and finally got a reservation. We shared the burrata, burger and onion rings. It was the perfect amount of food for the both of us and the burrata and the burger were delicious, we didn't really enjoy the onion rings... Can't wait to go back for another delicious dinner or brunch.
Reliably an amazing dinner.
The waiter service was great. The reason it’s not getting 5 stars is because of the extremely rude bartender
Such a great spot to gather with friends in a cozy environment with delicious food and drinks to warm up on a January night. Recommend the chicken pot pie and a hot toddy!
Unpleasant service. It was very evident that your staff was very upset that we arrive for a 3:45 reservation for Sunday brunch. Then why to even bother providing the seating option?
We were greeted with a sneer from the awful, pretentious host. We'd been shopping and come straight to the restaurant and it was raining heavily so we were soaking wet. Absolutely zero effort was made to help with our bags and coats we were merely shown to a table and left to it. There was at most 4 inches between each table so we had to clamber in, disturbing everyone around us and I had to put my coat on the back of my chair which was then knocked literally every time someone walked past. There is so little room in the section we were put in because they seem to make so much extra room for the regulars and "faces" that for some unfathomable reason frequent this dump.
Why on earth places like this make a name for themselves I have no idea. I was suckered I admit but as a tourist, I'll cut myself some slack but do yourselves a favour and give this a wide birth and go to The Nomad where they know how to treat people and definitely know how to cook.
