The Waverly Inn
The waiter service was great. The reason it’s not getting 5 stars is because of the extremely rude bartender
Such a great spot to gather with friends in a cozy environment with delicious food and drinks to warm up on a January night. Recommend the chicken pot pie and a hot toddy!
Unpleasant service. It was very evident that your staff was very upset that we arrive for a 3:45 reservation for Sunday brunch. Then why to even bother providing the seating option?
We were greeted with a sneer from the awful, pretentious host. We'd been shopping and come straight to the restaurant and it was raining heavily so we were soaking wet. Absolutely zero effort was made to help with our bags and coats we were merely shown to a table and left to it. There was at most 4 inches between each table so we had to clamber in, disturbing everyone around us and I had to put my coat on the back of my chair which was then knocked literally every time someone walked past. There is so little room in the section we were put in because they seem to make so much extra room for the regulars and "faces" that for some unfathomable reason frequent this dump.
Why on earth places like this make a name for themselves I have no idea. I was suckered I admit but as a tourist, I'll cut myself some slack but do yourselves a favour and give this a wide birth and go to The Nomad where they know how to treat people and definitely know how to cook.
Jeff, they sommellier, was very helpful and guided us to two excellent choices. Food was outstanding and service attentive.
Birthday dinner. We sat next entire cast of Schitts Creek. Was awesome!
All was great, the food was on the oily and salty side.
Celebrated a special occasion and it was very romantic and the staff was very attentive. Had the bone in ribeye steak for two, which was perfectly cooked. Octopus appetizer was tender and seasoned well.
Everything was great except the service - we eat at waverly often and live in the neighborhood and the server rushed us through our meal and was not friendly nor seemed to care about our experience. Good food, bad service on this visit
My friend Laney turned 50.
We were celebrating my daughter’s 28th birthday. Disappointing overall. The 6 of us were seated at a round table that was way more appropriate for 4. It felt like part of our family was joining the table next to us. My husband actually sat in an exit doorway that was extremely cold (bad draft). The girls ordered the $26 cheeseburger that actually came without cheese. Disappointing...over rated.
It was excellent as always !
Very good food in a unique atmosphere❤️❤️❤️
This was our first time even though the four of us have lived in the neighborhood for years. This is a very special place. The food was excellent, the service was good for how crowded it was but the seating is a bit tight. The overall experience is very top NY vibe with a historic touch that seems to make it that much more special.
Beautiful, charming romantic date spot in nyc. Food is perfect, service is outstanding, atmosphere is unbelievable. Best restaurant in nyc!
I haven't been here in years! It used to be my local brunch place where my restaurant industry friends and I would gather. It really a has not changed much. Its still a cozy ambiance with a few fireplaces blazing, perfect for winter. A cute bar in the front room with a tight menu of comfort food which is delicious. We had a terrific baked chicken and pork chop. The wine list is ridiculously overpriced for such a casual menu with extremely limited options in the mid-price range. The wines "by the glass" are pretty awful quality, which is just inexcusable. Stick to the cocktails, which are well crafted!
The ambience is lovely and everything on the menu sounds delicious. Our waiter was rude and had such an attitude so will not be returning
Food was great and our waiter Alex C. couldn’t have been better
One of my favorites in New York. It’s old world charm and wonderful ambiance make it so very special.
Service was actually spectacular once we asked to switch waiters. We had a woman who initially was not great. We were given David who was spectacular!!! The sommelier was also incredible.
We had a very bad experience. Food was clearly overcooked and waiters were very anxious to have an early close, although it was only 11pm. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore. There are so many very good places around with much better atmosphere and price/quality. What a pity!
we had a lovely time, their drinks were classic, but not tired. The salmon was cooked perfectly.
The children (not technically children) next to our table were outrageously drunk, but we decided to find it hilarious. The staff handled them well and we have a lovely time. Next time we’ll come at the old people (not technically old people) hour.
Old school and charming.
New Year’s Eve!
Excellent service and amazing food. Enjoyed it from the minute we walked in. It’s a place which is a bit upper class, but we knew what we were going to and I can highly recommend it. The waiter was amazing and it was overall an excellent experience!
extremely warm inside, everyone was shouting and aloof servers.
Extraordinary..for years never losing its uniqueness and quality..
Incredible space. Attentive service. Solid, well presented food choices. Nothing to complain about except how long in advance you need to make reservations.
Great ambience & service was friendly & professional. Food was great— highly recommended.
This was our place for the past five years, and it is no more. We thought that they could get 1 Michelin star at some point but now I have to say that I have been to dinners in the middle of nowhere with far better food and service. I booked the table saying that is our anniversary but not even a candle with the very average dessert. It is time for us to find a new “our” restaurant in NYC, good news: the choice is endless
A New York gem.
It is a place to go to say you’ve been. The menu was underwhelming, nothing special for the prices. The ambiance was fun, celebrities were there but not worth the bill. The service was good but not great.
One of my favorites in NYC! Excellent food and great staff
Best place for our annual Christmas dinner in Manhattan!
Old wold charm. Good food. Have been coming here for over 30 years!
Good moody feel and vibe but tables very very close together so needed to move tables to get in and out. A loud nearby conversation can be heard by all!! Waiters too attentive and felt under pressure to finish and go as felt you were being watched closely! Hard to get a table in the first place. Was looking forward to a nice relaxed brunch but was in and out in less than an hour.
Love this restaurant because it’s so cozy and charming. Food is good too! Always a go-to when in NYC!!
Excellent food. Professional, courteous and efficient staff. Highly recommend
Always a fantastic time and great food at Waverly.
Waverly was great, atmosphere shared with friends with champagne and oysters, what could be better !
What a treasure the Waverly Inn is. This is one of my favorite places to take friends and family as it oozes with charm and warmth. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. As soon as we returned I tried to make another reservation for our large party but alas I am not the only one who loves this place so be sure to call early for your reservation!
There’s a limited menu in the late afternoon. Wish we could have ordered off either brunch or dinner menu.
Very disappointing food for Waverly Inn. We ordered the chorizo hash, the omelet and the Benedict. All were meh. The service was mediocre at best. They didn’t even ask us if we wanted coffee or desert before pushing the check on the table. Very disappointing experience.
