The Waverly Inn
It was a bday I made sure the restaurant knew it, and they did not do anything about it
Not even a small candle cake.
The food was way basic for the price
Not worth it
Staff was great sat out in a chilly night let us move inside when it got colder
Food was great as always
Excellent food, cozy and elegant environment. 10/10 recommend.
Wait staff amazing. Friendly, accommodating, great energy.
Garden room was special on a cold Friday night.
Love it!! Favorite
We were a party of 6. Four of us have been at the restaurant several times previously and loved our experiences. This time we were not pleased. Our waitress was abrupt and rude. All wait staff reached over us several times without so much as a "pardon me". Not what we have grown to expect at this restaurant and a bit embarrassing for us as we were hosting 2 out of town friends.
Highly overpriced food ($65 for dover sole fish which was poorly executed and served with plain green beans), quality far lower than average. Other dishes like grilled octopus and cauliflower were also far below average. Poor selection of liquor. Ambiance is quite nice, candle light, rather romantic atmosphere.
Wonderful! Food, cocktails all delicious. People are so nice, wait staff, bartender, host. No wait for our reserved table. Very happy!
the food was a disappointment ... the restaurant is in a lovely space...i have eaten there 5 or 6 times and the food gets poorer each time...too bad
i love this restaurant, it can be either sedate or rollicking, and the food, the service and the surroundings never fail to charm.
Had a great brunch here! Great menu. Not super kid friendly from a menu standpoint but we still enjoyed our time.
Sneakily good brunch
Good food and setting, let down by the poor service and entitled staff. Left with the impression that it’s a privilege to be there.
Great food and service.
Used to be my favorite place but this time.....Rushed service, Lukewarm food, not a very friendly waiter, super expensive wine list, Maitre'd on cell phone texting as we left
Amazing food, service and ambiance; Legendary NYC place.
Great place, sat in the garden, amazing vibes and scenery, our waiter was hilarious
DIVINE! A great New York experience.
Great experience. Our waiter was excellent. Sommelier was knowledgeable and laid back. Totally enjoyed our experience.
Dover Sole was a bit fishy and at $65 definitely over priced.
Very slow service, cramped, WAY TOO HOT. Food was ok at best
Amazing food and ambiance, great service, very friendly staff!
I usually have a great experience at the Waverly inn. However, the waitress did not take our food allergies seriously. Disappointed in that she did not walk us through or make sure dishes we ordered were allergen free for us. We were very clear with our food allergies. One of us ended up getting a serious reaction to the food we had that lasted for three days.
Best place in NYC!
Lovely ambience service ok food could have been better. Lack of attention to diners and detail.
We ate outside in the patio/garden area. What a treat on a cold January day! It is simply beautiful The service for our visit was lovely and I didn't have a single complaint, friendly and smiling. The food was a little inconsistent. We started with bloody marys, they were OK. We shared the deviled eggs and grapefruit brûlée with ricotta. The eggs lacked any 'punch', tasty but not memorable. The grapefruit was amazing and I will be back just for that and the room. Our mains, we both had shakshuka were not great, no flavor or seasoning to speak of. It did not bring back memories of trips to Israel, it did not taste middle eastern in the least, in fact was way too bland and the just undercooked chewy chickpeas were a distraction rather than an enhancement. The breads and pastries at other tables (I'm gluten-free) looked really good.
Beautiful ambiance but underwhelming food. Perhaps the most bland food I’ve found in the City. Very disappointing considering the high price point.
Snobby waiters and sommelier for NO reason.
Waiter was snooty .... soooo crammed in .... food very expensive
Love the interior, good menu, high quality ingredients, but service is spotty and at times a bit uppity.
Very loud - it was a little too loud for me.
I always love it there. So appreciative too that they seated us exactly where I requested. I had guests from out of town visiting who had never been to NYC before so they now have been to ze best!!
Beautiful place. Brussels Sprouts and eggs for brunch was absolutely delicious. The shashuka was also really good
very disappointing- this was a special dinner to celebrate that i survived a strike + lived. i made the reservation under my name . my best friend came to join us gave my name + they could not find it do he left. after waiting for 5 minutes for a martini i asked a busboy + the edited brought it to me. the food was not great for the price, the only good thing about this place is the ambience
This is a beautiful place with great food, but it was way too crowded and noisy to be enjoyable. You had to shout at the person next to you just so they could hear you. Also, the service was slow as they could have used more waiters. It was a disappointing experience.
The ambiance can’t be beat and we had fun identifying all the famous Village residents in the mural. The food was very good - the burrata small plate in particular was excellent- but like so many NYC restaurants overpriced. It’s worth it for a special occasion.
Loved it! Great ambiance and amazing food
Incredibly rude manager. Have never witnessed such disrespect towards a patron in my life. Great place otherwise, but the restaurant would benefit from a manager with proper etiquette and courtesy towards its customers.
For such a beautiful setting was quite surprised by the service and the food. Not sure if we caught it on an off night or if it’s just gone downhill. Happened to be recommended to us by industry ppl so maybe they were treated a little better. First off my two friends and I had a cocktail at the bar, cocktails were just ok- I had a bourbon-based one that was slightly better than the other 2. Then we sat down for dinner in the dining room where we had such a weird/negative experience we’ll probably avoid eating there again. Our waiter barely spoke to us, did not even introduce himself until we asked him his name. Took our order brusquely. The sommelier as well was cold, stiff and barely spoke. The food was mostly good (we had the crabcakes, lobster ravioli, scallops and the “famed” truffle Mac and cheese). Enjoyed it all with the exception of the dry, thick, underwhelming Mac and cheese (sadly). The bread at the beginning of the meal was amazing though. That meal and a bottle of Sancerre split between 3 of us worked out to about $120 each- definitely not great value for the quality. That said will definitely go back for the ambiance (and ghosts) if even to just have sub-par drink.
