The Waverly Inn
Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. The menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.
What a beautiful experience tonight. I usually cook for 35 people on thanksgiving. Tonight I was at like a restaurant spa. Bravo Waverly Inn for making my Thanksgiving magical. And I am a Trump supporter. Loved your quote from him. Happy Thanksgiving! 🇺🇸💫✅❤️
My favorite place in the city. Beautiful rear patio with fireplace and lovely outside seating!
We had the absolute best waiter! The food and service excellent as always. The ambiance (considering we're in a pandemic and outdoor in the winter seasons) was surprisingly lovely.
The staff was lovely and the food was excellent!
The only issue was that inside was very cold due to keeping doors opened - I imagine it was to comply with COVID regulations for indoor dining. Still, they need to figure something out so that guests don’t have to eat with their coats on.
Great food and excellent service particularly given it was a freezing night. Only downside was being offered the coldest table despite booking a couple of weeks before but staff were pleasant when we asked to move to a warmer table.
We went here for a birthday dinner and it couldn't have been better. Even with a monsoon of a storm coming through the west village streets, the staff continued to serve us with smiles. The food was excellent and the ambiance they've established outside was great as well. We will definitely be returning.
It was the best service and food
Excellent food and ambience! The chicken pot pie is perfect comfort food.
Fantastic Birthday experience for my significant other! Thank You!
Beautiful setting and delicious food but unfortunately very bad service nowadays .
Our waiter was combative and rude, which completely ruined our dining experience.
The restaurant management should train the staff better , so they at least know how to talk to the clients . This used to be such an amazing place all around . Very disappointed and will not be back .
Used to be a big fan but not anymore. First, the food was really heavy and unhealthy. Second, the service was cold, unhelpful and seemed like they were trying to nickel and dime us. Lastly, without the beautiful indoor atmosphere of the restaurant (we dined outside), there’s not much to justify the high prices.
Good food, service n ambience. I like branching there.
Service was extremely slow. The atmosphere was very pleasant, but difficult to get the attention of our server for any interaction.
Food, service, and ambiance was great! Cocktails and coffee definitely tasted off - not sure what happened, but the experience was still enjoyable!
Outside dining was warm with heaters. Wonderful food. Brilliant service from Peter.
Excellent experience and wonderful food! Highly recommend
Outside dining was wonderful with heaters to keep you warm and attentive waiters
Food and service was great! We originally had a table inside, but we ended up eating outside under the heater.
The restaurant was freezing I could see my breath. My food got extremely cold right when it was set down. It was not an enjoyable experience and worth the price of the meal.
Great food, service, and ambience. There was light rain, but you wouldn't have known since the tables were completely covered. The heat lamps made it pleasant to dine outside without a coat (still wore a sweater). Food was delicious and service was wonderful. Will definitely be back.
Food took 50 mins
Excellent brunch outside with great social distancing! Service was great as well!
This has quickly become my favorite restaurant. Everything from the service, to the ambiance, food and drinks - absolutely perfect. The staff went above and beyond for my friends and I - complimentary drinks and desserts (which was completely unnecessary!) the owner, the waitstaff, everyone is amazing and I cannot wait to return.
The brunch menu is horrible - hardly anything on it. I went at 12:30 and could only order off of the “brunch” menu - they won’t let you order Off of the “late brunch” menu which starts at 3. Who needs two different brunch menus??? NO ONE!
Service was rude
Great food and atmosphere. At the end things where however rushed (although it was not even 10pm and there were no other people waiting for a table).
Always an awesome experience! Expect to pay for the experience, service and food.
We were transported out of NYC to a magical outdoor space in the heart of the West Village. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a well-deserved night away from your apartment. Food, service and ambiance were A+..
We were 4 people. .... it was Very expensive for 2 salads 2 risottos 4 glasses of wine and 2 deserts I pay $338 it just not worth it
Love the ambiance but expensive for quality offered. Had a really tiny piece of venison for $66...and it was not great
Their outdoor Seating is amazing, well done! The burger as always is the highlight - couldn’t be more perfect with a brunch cocktail! Great to see Waverly is back
Food and drinks were amazing. Ambiance was lovely. Service was very slow but probably because we came at the end of lunch hours and had a larger group than planned.
Absolutely wonderful! The setting in front of the fireplace was perfect. Our server was Brian and he was absolutely wonderful with recommending dishes and setting up the timing of the courses. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants and each time it exceeds the previous experience. Thank you!
Fantastic evening. Outdoor set up they have is awesome. Momentarily forget about daily stress of world events, with an evening at Waverly.
Really wonderful! We had a late reservation and it felt like we were being rushed out a bit towards the end of our meal, but other than that everything was great.
I have never agreed with Donald Trump on anything except his negative comments on the Waverly Inn. Overpriced and extremely disappointing. We spent over $1000 for 4 people and it was average at best. The truffle Mac and cheese was $230 and you could barely taste the limited truffles. Steak was unremarkable. Service was not friendly and we were rushed out after dinner (and told there was no time for desert) at 10:30 (we had 8:45 reservation) despite the fact that all the other restaurants in the neighborhood were still jumping as we walked home. Will not be going back.
Always outstanding food and service. A perfect authentic NYC experience.
It is fair to say that it all depends on what one is looking for. If a restaurant is only about food, this one gets good grades for presentation, but lacks in taste and even originality in interpreting classic dishes. If one is looking for a charming space, the restaurant delivers even if sitting outside on a lovely and quiet corner of the village. The fireplace room has no roof now, so if you are lucky, you can again enjoy it!
Perfect date spot! Delicious food and great service!
