The Wave Kitchen & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We went for the paella and were so disappointed. It was mostly rice, 1 scallop, a few clams and a few mussels, and some dry fish. The shellfish was very overdone. The 1 scallop was good but hardly enough to justify the price or satisfy any of us as a meal. I would not go back. I think it's all about the tourists and not about good quality food.
Dinner was wonderful. So many tempting items on the menu. We ended up having the Paella, their signature dish since it was our first time there. The serving for two was large and more than we could eat. All the components were fresh not over cooked like some versions and spiced just perfectly. Also had a fabulous mussel appetizer. Again, garlicky and well seasoned. Interesting wine list with some Spanish and Argentine selections that paired well with the Cuban favors. Finished with a rich flourless chocolate cake. To make the evening even better our server, David was as good as it gets. knew the menu and called us by our first names all evening. nice touch. Never rushed us and made great suggestions. Strongly recommend this restaurant.
Local people brought guests can Went for dinner food awesome service great for dinner went back for Sunday brunch. Service substandard. Asked f or baby's food first came out last... Had manager say I'll be right back with what we needed but we're very concerned about a couple who were combative instead of people being nice and also an old couple near us who did not squeak a wheel. Love vet your food . Too bad about service
Experienced the early bird special. Limited selections, but excellent preparation and great service. Very good value considering 3 courses for $20 and $6 for glass of wine. Main dish was large portion. Nice ambiance with views of swimming pool from dining room.
Saturday night but with a 6 yr old We got there about 5:30 pm. Service was attentive and helpful. Food very good. I had the scallop dish served with sweet potato etc. My only suggestion - in August, serve scallops over something like orzo, etc. the red snapper entrée was delic eaten by my husband - my daughter had the pasta dish - very tasty - he star for me was the mussel app - to die for - try it - great - when we were leaving - a guitarist playing ( sat night) Really great food service (thx David)
This restaurant is nested inside the Costa d'Este Beach Resort and takes most of the front part of the lobby, the decor is fresh, modern and appealing; the food was well prepared and server was very amicable, would definitely go back on our next visit to Vero Bch.
We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary with a fantastic meal and wonderful service from David. He called us by name throughout the evening, and we were provide a free "Happy Anniversary" dessert sampler. The Cuban pork was the BEST I have ever tasted. We WILL be back again!
My husband took me to the Wave last week. We had an amazing time. I don't recall our server's name but she was amazing. I am vegetarian & the food was delicious! My husband had salmon & stated that it was the best salmon that he had ever eaten. The background music was lovely; nice place for a nice date night.
Stayed at hotel and enjoyed our dinner in its restaurant the Wave
Ambience and service were great the manager was very accommodating and friendly
Food was very good but pricey but probably normal for an upscale beach restaurant
Menu selections were very interesting and varied
I would recommend if you want to splurge
I've never encountered such poor management of a restaurant than I did at this visit. The manager was very rude and was ripping people off with there wine menu. They had a 2012 4 graces wine For 78$ and they were pouring 2014 4 graces for the same price. I asked to have the price adjusted and he said no. He was rude and not accommodating to me and my family. I will never go there again and never recommend anyone to eat there.
We were seated at a table for two next to a glass wall overlooking the pool. We originally had gone to try out the early bird menu but when we found out it was paella night we decided to try that. The paella for two was delicious, but the small table for two was not spacious enough to comfortably accommodate the place settings and serving dishes. The servers were polite and attentive.
The restaurant is beautiful; the valets and hostess charming and professional. The dining room and bar are very attractive up-to-date chic - lots of space minimal pleasing decor with a view of the ocean across the pool. There were nice fresh fish choices on the menu that night along with some Cuban favorites that were tempting to try but we opted for the Paella a house specialty as it was our first visit,. Calamari to start and Caesar salad. The calamari was some of the best we've ever had with a spicy, carribean red sauce - four of us shared and we should have ordered another. The Caesar was fine, plenty for two to share although really not special enough to justify the price. The Paella was a disapointment though. It really didn't have the flavor we'd expected - we've eaten it many times in many locales -the chicken was overcooked and dry, the mussels (tiny) as well, the shrimp was just right as were the two scallops for two people , tons of rice - the dish missed the mark in too many ways. We wished we'd ordered something else. The service was very good 90% of the time, but probably our biggest reason for never returning for dinner -we might try lunch we were there on a Saturday night- will the the noise level in the room. It was so loud you had to shout to be heard across the table , conversation was impossible and there was jazz guitar live music most of the time.
Had a very nice special dinner with my wife to celebrate her birthday. It was Steak Night and 1/2 price wine night (select bottles). Food was outstanding, wine was excellent (great value) and service was good. Nice touch with a complimentary dessert at the end of the meal. Highly recommend the Costa d'Este Resort and their Wave Kitchen restaurant. Will definitely return.
The food here is very good. However, they totally skimp on whatever meat item is in the dish. My friend and I shared the fish tacos and the lobster mac and cheese. Both dishes were delicious, but there was hardly no lobster or fish. The fish in my one taco had a piece of fish that was the size of a silver dollar. The rest of the taco was filled with a cabbage slaw. The mac & cheese had a level teaspoon of lobster in my half of the dish. My friend had the same. We each had one drink and a dessert and my half of the bill was $47 with a tip. I don't mind paying, but in my opinion, they need to do better with the ingredients.
We enjoyed our dining experience very much. The service was wonderful and the restaurant is very stylish.
As vegetarians, we were a bit disappointed in the lack of options for us and felt the price was a little high for the dishes we could eat (since no meat was involved).
However, we thoroughly enjoyed the two breakfasts we had and would definitely recommend their omelets and breakfast potatoes!
Very disappointed with the service, unreal the server didn't want to be there. The food temperature was "warm" like it was sitting out for a while. We had to ask to tap the water for us. For a Mothers Day evening the restaurant was not busy; about six empty tables around us. I was able to point a few familiar faces from previous visits. If this was our first visit to "The Wave" We would never go back or recommend it in any way. It really ruin Mother's Day dinner for us. It was my wife who choose the restaurant for this evening not my first choice.
Very disappointing. The server made it sound like the mothers day brunch came with mimosas and bloody marys so everyone in the party 5 decided to have mimosas and 1 person had a Bloody Mary as well. When the bill came we had an additional charge of $100. When we questioned the server there was nothing they could do. Very disappointing. We will not be back. They scammed us for drink money when they made it sound all inclusive. Very poor business practice.
