Lovely place.. food was good but I did say to the waiter please make sure my burger is well done cooked! It came back and it was pink inside, which I already ate half. It annoyed me abit as I am pregnant and can’t eat rare food. They did re- cook the same burger again but I thought they would have bought me a new burger but they didn’t.
We had a lovely evening quite early as it was after work, but I met a group of friends for drinks at the bar and then we had an early dinner, which as I had booked on Opentable we got 30% off the food. I had the seared Tuna and it was gorgeous!, food and service was excellent. Will definitely be paying another visit soon. Thank you.
Haven’t been for sometime and meeting friends in the area so thought we would go as on the past it had been good. Disappointed with the food. My husband and I had tuna steak and he asked for medium -rare and I asked for medium.... they both came the same .....well done.
Service was okay and friendly and there was an open fire going which always adds to the ambiance.
Don’t think we will be going back.
Really too noisy. We went with our three children (Aged between 10 and 15) at 8pm on a Friday and we couldn’t talk to each other without shouting. Such a shame for what was meant to be a celebratory family meal. We were also placed next to the door and got a blast of freezing air every time it opened (which was frequently as they were serving people outside). They need a curtain or something to prevent this. Food was ok. We got the mezze platter to start and went for the large size which we were told would serve 4 people. It was nice enough but we were alarmed by the size as there were three dips and only two small pieces of halloumi. Not sure how that was meant to be for 4 people. Food took too long to come. I was starting to get edgy ( it was not helped by the fact we could not really talk in the meantime because of the noise). The halloumi and portobello mushroom burger was impossible to eat without pulling it apart as it was in a huge bun - which isn’t really the point.
I am sure it is a nice place for certain occasions but certainly not for a family.
The staff have recently changed and the service has taken a big turn for the worse. The food is ok but not great and the general manager is always rude and surly. It's a shame because we are local and love this place for it's beautiful location by the water!
good atmosphere and enjoyed the food, extra surprise with the 30% off for food when booking from OpenTable! Staff were all very nice.
Nice meal with a friend who enjoyed it immensely.
Another superb dinner at the Waterway - now our favourite restaurant in W9. We had one guest who has hearing difficulties and when we asked if we could move to a quieter table this was done without a problem and very swiftly. the food was wonderful - I thoroughly recommend the crab charcoal tortellini and the lobster and prawn pasta! the burger also looked great! they have a great set menu which is really good value.
We ordered 2 main dish from main menu and both were unavailable. Then again one starter from the menu is not available. Though the ambience is good, choice of menu shrank and it was unpleasant.
The food and service was good but what was very unsatisfactory was the allocated table which was ridiculously small for three people having a full dinner especially when I had booked in advance. I mentioned this to the manager and pointed out that some of the best tables were occupied by drinkers only and his reply that these were walk ins.
I enjoyed the evening but mentioned that I would not come again if I a similar situation occurred again as I found it very aggravating paying quite a lot of money for a good dinner spoilt by bad table allocation. Surly diners should be allocated the better tables especially when booking in advance.
Yes for location and drinks but the food isn’t as good as it used to be
Great venue and a location, right next to the river.
The food is good, and defiantly worth it. Although I wast fully impressed. The duck leg felt dry, and uneatable. Also lacked garnish, like potatoes or rice.
Another concern is the level of noise and not working heaters. Sitting outside was the only option to avoid noise, and have a chat with friends. But it was damn cold to sit outside without working heaters.
Excellent food, good service and atmosphere, special location
I have always had a wonderful time at this restaurant. And this dinner was no exception. We both enjoyed our meals. My lamb was so tender it was falling off the bone. My dinner date enjoyed their meal too. Thank you as always for your exemplary service, ambiance and prompt service. Merci!
We love the waterway during the winter - it has a really nice cosy feel. The service is great and they always welcome us as we live locally. We ate the lamb shank and the seabass and both were of a really high standard for a good neighbourhood restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Can’t recommend it enough to friends and family for a great meal
Friendly and accommodating staff who really made the evening special.
I went there few day ago and I order bottle of wine and I order burger and it was really bad if I done it at home it will teast much better, is good place to have drink but not good to eat
Great setting but disgusting food and poor service.
Go for a drink to enjoy the view of the canal and don’t order any food...
Avoid ravioli v small main portion. Noise level can be very high for a meal
Lovely place. Especially the ambience, gorgeous low lighting. Good food, friendly service. My only gripe would be do please train your staff to understand the OpenTable special deals. The bill arrived without the discount and in questioning it with the waiter he looked at me like I was making a complaint and it was distinctly awkward. It really is one of my pet peeves when dining on a deal; we’ve travelled out of our way to redeem it (which is exactly the idea isn’t it, to get more bums on seats) but then we have to endure the awkwardness of asking for it. Puts a damper on the evening.
Lovely evening at the waterway. Warm reception, great server and food was good!
The service was excellent, very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the ambience as well. The food was below average. Let’s start with a stale bread basked, brought to order, so charged extra. The mussels starter was very poor, the worst mussels in a very long time. Didn’t taste fresh and we couldn’t eat it. The rest was very average. I wouldn’t go here for the food alone. The location however is great.
Sadly the experience was ruined by the tuna making me quite ill. Will not be ordering any fish or seafood from there again. Will stick to their burgers if I go back again.
The Waterway, with its perfect location along the Regent's Canal is always a good option for an amazing and traditionnal Sunday Roast in a nice atmosphere!
Excellent location very friendly staff and good food
Friendly and obliging staff. Terrific food, best in the area. OpenTable discount very handy.
Always good. Service had some issues (slow, lack of attention, inexperienced) perhaps staff reduction for the season?
Really great spot by the canal. Despite the chilly weather we were nice and warm under the heaters.
Every time I have lunch here I enjoy everything,
the atmosphere looking the channel is very charming , the menu is various and the food excellent.
I surely recommend The Waterway .
Unfortunately, the bad service takes away from other positive aspects. Too few staff waiting on too many tables, perhaps.
Enjoyable visit friendly staff. You state that reserved tables all inside, but when we got there we were shown to a outdoor canal-side table. This was great but had we known we would have brought another layer of clothing! Thanks for the use of a blanket.
Great service and food, the waiter veru kind and the food came in short time
Roast chicken salad was a bit ‘wet’ and tasteless, but the service was very friendly and the ambience on the terrace was excellent
We enjoyed our meal and the ambiance of the restaurant. Fresh, tasty food with a wide selection. Good cocktails too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would go back if in the area again!
We were greeted with smiles and warmth, great first impression which made us feel valued and welcomed immediately.
We were shown to our seats and the service kicked off and was fluent and timely from the monuments we arrived. We were attended to very well.
The food was tasty and well cooked. We both had the scallop starter, (I wasn’t a fan) and for the mains I had the carb and prawn pasta which was out of this world! Full of flavour. My friend had the steak. Drinks were well made and presented beautifully, I started with Gin and tonics but stole my friends cocktail at a certain point as they just looked to good!
The restaurant is nicely presented and I would return as soon as! A great place to grab a bite, or have a date. Relaxed atmosphere.
Had the corn fed chicken salad, bread and a sparkling water and it came to £27. The chicken was so shredded it was like mush. It said it came with a vinaigrette which, albeit, tasted nice but ended up consisting of just pure oil. I was on a strict diet and this was the only healthy thing on the menu that I could have chosen. In this case £17 for a bit of mushy chicken and salad leaves left a bitter taste in my mouth. My partner then had the scallops (which were good) and a lamb steak that was, again, covered in oil. His side of potatoes came out 3/4 of the way through his meal, which we had to remind the waiter to bring once already. When the dauphinoise potatoes did arrive they were raw.
All in all we paid £74 for this terrible meal and below average service, and we didn't even get a seat outside so had to sit in the boiling heat of the restaurant inside. We could have overlooked the latter if the food was good. We wish we hadn't wasted our money.
Poor food for the price you pay.
Good place ruined by the poor food
Fantastic location both in summer and winter, good menu and great service. Perfect for Sunday brunch, week lunch, dinner with friends. Good for a date too.
Lovely to sit outside - it had been raining during the day but we had heaters and enjoyed the evening. Staff couldn’t to enough to make out evening enjoyable.
