We have been coming to AMI for 5 years and always make a point of having several reservation at The Waterfront because we have always loved the food, atmosphere and service
Our last trip was very disappointing
My husbands fish was not cooked the way he wanted and when we sent it back it was still
We asked to sub the potato for the vegetable that we were told we would have and it only came with the cooked cabbage that went with the corn beef dinner that night
The waiter said they ran out but made no effort to substitute anything and I did see asparagus on others plates
They took my husbands fork away twice with salad and then the
reheat and never brought him another
We had a hard time getting anyone’s attention and waited a long time to get one
That being said we have another reservation and will give a The Waterfront a go again as we know some nights can be off
I hope that’s the case
The Waterfront is wonderful. We have dined here a few times over the years. The food is always well-prepared, interesting and fresh. But the big bonus is the staff: friendly, helpful, engaging. Just great people.
Thanks for a fantastic night!
Went to Waterfront on the suggestion of family members, and we were not disappointed. The food was really good...shrimp and grits - fabulous! Ahi Tuna was great, too! We all absolutely loved the Calamari appetizer...not your typical fried calamari! Drizzled with a sort of thai chili sauce that was just great! Our server was the best...I wish I could remember his name. He was so friendly, was there when you needed him and was also helpful with suggestions.
The only negative at all was that we had a reservation at 8:15 and we weren’t seated until 8:45. Not much point to a reservation, if there is no table for you. 5 mins o k, but 30??
But, overall it was a wonderful evening!
Always delicious! One of our favorite places for lunch or dinner.
We always look forward to dinner at the the Waterfront each year while we are here. Delicious food with creative combinations of yummy vegetables and or grains/potatoes😊 I would highly recommend this restaurant. Make reservations if you can😊
Food was very good. Service was a bit slow.
Diner with hubby and son-all our food was amazing! I had tuna-best ever!! Can’t wait to go back sometime!!
Amazing drinks and food!!!
Good food, excellent service and well priced.
Must have been an off night at The Waterfront. We had a reservation but we ended up sitting outside on the chilly porch for about half an hour. The hostess told us several times our table was being prepared. They really shouldn’t do that if it’s not correct. When we finally got a table, the hostess herself took our app order. A few minutes later, someone who may have been a busboy took our drink order. And a few minutes after that, the waitress who would serve us for the rest of the meal appeared. At the table next to us, we heard a woman ask for the manager. When he arrived, there was a brief and quiet conversation before the manager said he would comp the woman’s shrimp dinner. Things moved along better after all this, but we were 45 minutes into our visit by then. I had the moqueca, a Brazilian fish stew. It was quite good. My dining partner had the crab cakes, a reliable and excellent choice.
The Waterfront Restaurant has fabulous upscale dishes, beautiful water views, and attentive friendly service. We always make a point to dine here at least twice while visiting Anna Maria Island. Great for a special occasion or nice family dining.
Really enjoyed dinner - seafood and chicken along with a very nice bottle of wine. Excellent service.
Dined here while on vacation. Service and food was good. Definitely recommend that reservations be made if you want to eat inside which has better ambience than the outside dining area.
Great atmosphere great decor loved the fish tank server was knowledgeable of the menu and made sure to check on us often
Our meals and service were top notch!
Started with Fried Green Tomatoes. Sesame encrusted tuna was excellent.
We eat here every year. It is always fabulous! The food is always delicious.
Our second time there. We loved everything about it. We took friends who were also impressed.
We love the waterfront but the noise level was much too high. Great food.
Have eaten there before, several times,-- always wonderful- delicious good menue selection.. well worth the drive --- table selection from outside, open to the outside oor inside the best resturant on AMI in my book! reasonable prices for the food!!
Off the list! This is the last time we will include this restaurant as a vacation dining destination. We dine here every year;however, this time my husband’s filet was an end piece used for less expensive dishes. We expected an apology from the server and chef but got a defensive attitude instead.
Exceptional food and service as always! A great cocktail menu as well!
We love this restaurant and wanted to share the experience with visiting friends. Our meal was delicious and didn’t disappoint but our server seemed out of it and
distracted, she didn’t even tell us her name. We had to suggest her to take our order so we could get rid of the menus from our table in order to enjoy our appetizer she had already brought to table. We asked for take home boxes and had to remind her to bring them back before we left. This wasn’t our first time to eat there and service has always been top notch. It won’t stop us from enjoying this restaurant in the future when we return to Anna Maria .
Love everyone there, from Tammy the hostess, and including each and every server!!
Excellent fish. Loved the setting. Very comfortable. Don’t know about the outside seating, looked OK. Service was great and no waiting with our reservation
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Friendly and fun staff with prompt service - thanks Matt! Food was good too, especially the salad. Fresh fish prepared a variety of ways daily.
Sit outside. Inside has a lousy ambience - felt like a diner. The pork tenderloin was excellent, but the key lime pie was a disappointment,
Great food and service. This was our first visit. Best food in the area!
The best food and service we’ve had in ages!
The steak was cooked perfectly
The scallops were exactly as they should be
The short ribs were fall off the bone
Everything was excellent.
Our server was the oerfectly balance of Friendly and efficient
Visiting AMI and Waterfront was recommended. It didn’t disappoint.
The Waterfront is a great place to share a drink or special meal with friends! We look forward to dining there each time we stay on Anna Maria Island. We've thoroughly enjoyed the creative menu choices each year and love the special cocktails from the bar. Thank you for making each meal a memorable occasion.
The location and atmosphere were unbeatable. But we were seated inside when the majority of seating was outside on a great weather day so we felt we missed an opportunity there.
Our waiter was efficient but a bit stern and that dampened the fun a little. The menu was sufficient but could have been more robust with choices. Crab cakes (3) were moderate size and enough to eat. Fruiti de MAr was enjoyed by our family. No clinkers.
Did not try dessert this time around. When the bill came we were in a bit of sticker shock as everything is a la carte and added up. The drinks added up too. So I would say overall that the atmosphere is great and location is great. No sunsets on this side of the Island. And price for a la carte eating probably not worth the extra price. Suggest shopping around.
I can’t believe you need to make a reservation weeks (!) in advance for The Waterfront. Overall, the food was mediocre to awful. The selection of entrees was a bit too eclectic. (How many times do I say that too many choices is a red flag?). Calamari app — over seasoned. Tile fish Boudin entree — fish okay, the rest, bleh. Fish tacos — Inedible. The worst things I have ever been served. Not a single nice chunk of grouper. It seemed like little bits and pieces of leftover ends. More than a few bones. The grouper with hollandaise and asparagus rather outdated. Didn’t highlight the freshness of the local fish. The seared tuna was not bad compared to the other dishes. Our server was okay at best. Only so-so as far as being attentive. She looked like she had worked too many shifts, without a break. (Who wants to have a server who looks disheveled?) From the moment we were greeted by the hassled, unfriendly hostesses, until we left, we could not have been more disappointed with our experience at The Waterfront.
Just had a fantastic birthday dinner here. I had the Grouper Oscar, very good. Standouts for us though are the Kung Pao Calamari, the Beet Salad and the Ribeye. That is by far the best Ribeye I've ever had, great flavor. Friendly service, intimate, not pretentious and good value.
All our entrees were delicious. Our table was ready right on time. Everyone
The food was terrific. Great starter (French fried carrots & beets), and the mains were amazing. Grouper Oscar and shrimp & grits were so flavorful and cooked perfectly. Great service, even with a plate delivery error. The beer/wine selection is very good.
Excellent choice all around for a surprise birthday gathering for my husband...
HOWEVER, the surprise was spoiled when we arrived at the hostess spot!
When she asked my name, I told her quietly we had a reservation for Anderson so my hubby would not hear. She immediately responded "Oh yes, your party is here! Some of them are sitting and some are at the bar!"
Well, I just about died...as the surprise was ruined and my husband just stood there and said something about she must have had the wrong name...and the hostess continued on...saying we had a reservation for a party of 12 and so on...
I was very upset to say the least.
We were there with a party of 12 on 2/24/18 under the name Karen Anderson.
A hostess should be more discreet and not offer any information when a reserved party arrives to prevent a similar situation. I understand she was just trying to be nice and welcoming BUT she gave entirely too much information that ruined a surprise.
The Waterfront is our very favorite restaurant on the island. We are full time residents and come often usually for lunch or cocktails and always when we have family or friends staying with us. A touch of discreet training might prevent further situations like this from happening.
Said our reservation was for a relatively dark interior room--news to us. We would not have stayed. After protest seated us in an outside spot on the side street. Couldn't get preferred front street spot since there were only two of us. Upon leaving noticed some tab;es in our preferred spot with just two people. Food absolutely excellent. Service very good.
The brussel sprouts were soaked in grease. Could not eat them. Salad dressing and bread oil had too much vinegar and lacked district taste. Server Matt was very friendly and professional.
The Waterfront was everything we had heard and more! We dined inside and the ambiance was better than I had hoped. It was cozy without being crowded and most comfortable. I loved seeing so many of the original architectural details. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I will definitely return.
Hint: Reservations are for indoor dining. Outdoor dining is on a first-come-first-served basis through the hostess stand.
