The Water Club Ratings and Reviews
This was the worst New Year's Eve experience I have ever had. Had relatives from out of town with us and it was embarrassing not to mention the cost for a terrible experience. One thing that could have been nice was the view and it was covered with streamers. Small tight booth! Not a very pleasant or comfortable time. Sorry to have paid so much and spent my holiday there
Right from check in, coat check, drinks, and all the way to the dessert order... we didn’t even pay much heed to the food because the service, hospitality, graciousness, and the friendliness of the staff just blew us away! That being said wine menu is a 5/5, view is a 5/5, appetizers are 5/5, main course 4/5, and desserts are 5/5. + the live music and beautiful skyline water views are a 10/10. Loved it! Will definitely come back for another family meal with my group of adults, kids, and puppies.
Our group of four really enjoyed dining at The Water Club. The ambiance is elegant and the service is very good. Our appetizers and main courses were excellent, but the desserts were not so good. The breads offered were a standout with hot cornbread the table favorite. Cocktails were excellent. A special presentation at the table awaits you if you mention you are celebrating a special occasion. Prices are high, but not not unreasonable for the luxurious experience. The view over the water is tranquil but not spectacular. This is a great venue for a a celebration.
Beautiful dinner at the Water Club. Had lovely Christmas decorations in the lobby. Enjoyed a reasonably priced Alsacian Pinot Blanc, kumamoto oysters on the half shell (which are quite rare on the East Coast), fried calamari with dipping sauce, main dishes of braised short rib and prawn pasta, and creme brulee. All were outstanding, as was the service. The vibe is very classic New York and mostly families or older people, but it was perfect for a special night out. Has lots of special touches like piano player, coat check, and bathroom attendant.
Let me tell you I had a great time at the water club.. it has one of the most beautiful sceneries I have ever encountered and the food was delicious..The staff there are magnificent and truly delightful. Thank you for the hospitality.. will definitely come again.
The Water Club is old school New York. The setting is great, even on a snowy evening when the views are curtailed. As a result this is a popular spot for celebrations, both large and small.
The big money is in weddings, so if you arrive for dinner, you feel a little like a second class citizen, until you get into the dining room. Once there, however, the service is very good, if slightly slower than some New York restaurants, given the number of birthdays and other events receiving special attention.
The food was great; straight-up American fare as advertised, nothing too fancy, but very well prepared, tasty and plentiful. Our dessert order was messed up, but we were left the originally delivered dish, served the correct one and not charged for either. Very nice touch.
The Water Club exudes elegance and taste. The staff is incredibly well trained serving drinks and meals at the very best times. The waterfront view and piano player transport you back into yesteryears full of sophistication. This timeless institution is one that I cannot wait to return to. The Water Club is a must visit!
We go here every year at least once at Christmastime and sometimes in the summer. It is a beautiful restaurant and at Christmastime is decorated with Christmas trees and a beautiful train display. The bar has a beautiful fireplace and a piano player in the restaurant. The views of the east river are expansive. The food and service are always five-star. The beef Wellington used to be my favorite entree and has now been available only as an appetizer for the last few years but is a must have treat. It is simply one of the most enjoyable dining experiences in Manhattan. Well done.
The Water Club is a beautiful site with impeccable service and mostly good food. However, its
noise level is disturbing and distracting, which is why I took points off for "ambience." The noise just doesn't belong in that lovely setting.
When I made my reservation, t was told there was a live pianist/singer (a big attraction for me) but I couldn't hear him until I walked past the fellow on my way out. (A pity for both him and the diners!) In fact, I could barely hear my table mates over the din.
This is 2017, so surely something effective but unobtrusive can be down about keeping the noise down (carpeting, ceiling sound baffling, etc.), If you could accomplish this, I'd be back in a minute!
Every part of our meal was a surprise in the devotion to service and kindness went into our meal. Each course including a wellington appetizer, fabulous monk fish, lovely wine selection and table side flambe dessert reminded us of service and sheer enjoyment of a few years ago. There was a gifted pianist!
The view of the waterfront is memorable and no where else,
Thanks Water Club!
It was a lovely experience. The ambiance, in particular, was wonderful. We had a lovely table with a view of the water. My friend had the sea bass which she said was excellent. I had pan-seared chicken that was a bit dry for my taste. All-in-all it was an extremely pleasant evening: attentive servers, piano music and good food. The complimentary valet parking was also a plus!
We have been to the Water Club many times, and we chose it for my wife's significant birthday. I ordered a cake in advance. What a disappointing experience we had! First, the server did not tell us about all the specials. We heard the server at the next table describe the soup of the day, but it was too late, or so we thought. Actually, we waited one hour for our food, filling up on the delicious cornbread and scones. My son's steak au poivre came without the sauce. He was given mashed potatoes even though he had told the server about his dairy allergy. Most important, my wife did not like the dish she ordered: scallops and lobster ravioli. There were three scallops, each about the size of a quarter, breaded, and she complained to an attendant that they were excessively salty. The three ravioli were extremely tough, more like dumplings. Our original server never came around to ask how everything was. Nothing was done to compensate for my wife's dissatisfaction with her dish. The cake was presented elegantly and the piano music was nice. Beautiful view up the East River. Too bad the occasion was spoiled by inattentive service.
We had to try the The Water Club because a friend and biz partner was in town and none of us had ever tried it! The view is awesome, the ambiance high-end, yet comfortable and would be a great place for dates and celebrations. The piano player and attentive staff brought this dining and relaxing evening full circle for us. Favorites of the night were the beef Wellington app and the seafood raviolo and the sourdough bread.. We will return!
Another wonderful evening thanks to one of the best waiters/floor managers in the restaurant business... Zee always treats us with the utmost care and we always have a wonderful dining experience.. the food again is exceptional, from the filet mignon to the monkfish... thanks again to everyone at the water club for another lovely evening
I like it for special occasions. It's beautiful, comfortable, great ambiance, and great service.
It's a typical special night out and it's romantic. The food is very good, but it's not
special. I like the bread basket variety. I love the grilled asparagus. I liked the seafood
salad appetizer. The grilled tuna was tasty but I hated the sauce. The grilled branzino was
ok, but I've had much better at our local Greek restaurant. Creme brulee for dessert was OK, not nothing special. So, you don't go for the food experience. You go for the ambiance.
