This a great restaurant for a pre theater dinner when attending a show at the Sellersville Theater. Food was well prepared and reasonably priced. The only drawback was the length of time waiting for our entrees. We were able to arrive in our seats prior to showtime however.
Went, as always, for dinner before a Sellersville Theatre show. Nice beer selection. Food is always good.
My wife and I both had the lamb and it was basically tasteless. We were both overly hunger and ate it without complaint.
Nice dinner for Pre Theatre; good beer, good specials, good service
Historic spot, lots of character, we love local vs. chains. Bar looks like a cool place to hang out. Nice spot to stay over after the Theatre. Food was OK but a bit over-done with spices. We wanted to taste the crab and shrimp in the cakes, not the filling and spices. Cauliflower Steak was interesting, but again, the spices took over making it a bit overbearing. Can't say the meal was worth $96.00 we spent...(one drink each for the two of us.)
We ate there as it is part of the Sellersville theater (which we attended) and because they treated us so well from an earlier occasion.
One of the highlights for this restaurant is that they have been super flexible and accommodating. One time they were very busy with the bar & restaurant full, but they had a little table in the entry area and were happy to feed us there; as were we! Another time they were filled from a special event yet they found us 2 seats, in the corner, and we used the end of the bar for a table. My point is that when other restaurants would have turned us away; they took care of us the best they could.
We had the Cedar Plank Baked Salmon which was very tasty with a thicker than normal salmon slice.
Wonderful lunch with a good friend for my birthday ! The server was so nice- she gave me a free dessert for my birthday. Delicious carrot cake that I shared with my friend !
I've seen many shows at the Sellersville Theater, and decided for a change to have dinner at the Washington House right next door before a show this past weekend. It was very good. I'm sorry I didn't try it sooner. Food and service were both excellent. Will definitely be back for another meal the next time I come to a show at the theater!
Our waitress was almost invisible. She did not check in with us and left us waiting and uninformed. I would of understood the kitchen was a little behind and been patient but her service was unacceptable. The manager did notice and made up for it by comping the wine. I appreciated that.
Wonderful service. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Very good food and drinks.
We'd not been to the Washington House in a while, and it was an admittedly favorite destination in years past. This was a birthday celebration, and they lived up to our previous expectations. We love sitting in a bar booth, and doing an "appetizer sampler" (4 or 5 appetizers in lieu of two meals). Although we didn't do that on this occasion, the two appetizers that we did start the meal with were outstanding (Sausage and Shrimp Mac and Cheese, and the Warm Spinach Artichoke dip), followed by individual dinner selections from two different menus- I had an entree (Cedar Plank Baked Salmon) and my wife had a selection from the sandwich menu (Angus Burger, with Sweet Potato fries). She maintains that the Washington House SP Fries are the best in the region, and it was nice that we received an extra helping. We finished the meal with a pair of chocolaty desserts that were shared, and both delicious. All the food was outstanding, the service was fantastic, and once again TWH hit it out of the park. Thanks much!
I've been to the Washington House many times for lunch or dinner and it never disappoints! The food is excellent, well-prepared and presented, and prices are reasonable. The waitstaff is attentive, polite, and friendly. Whenever I have friends from out of town, I always take them here.
This was my daughter and my first visit. There was a special menu for Easter Sunday and all items looked tempting. Both our choices were very good with servings being more than average. Jackie was our server and was pleasant and attentive. Atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. It was an enjoyable dinner.
Delicious four course Easter dinner. We always enjoy the food and ambiance of the Washington House. Kitchen was a little slow for entree this time, but we were there to relax so it did not bother us too much. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Love their mini appetizers and desserts for special events.
wo of us had reservations here for Easter brunch. Even though they were sold out we were promptly seated by the pleasant hostess soon after our arrival.
Some might say that the atmosphere is stogy, while others find it to be quaint. For us it appeared to be warm and welcoming if a bit overdone on the nostalgia side. They seemed to be geared up for the crowd attending the theatre next door.
Everyone we came in contact with appeared genuinely eager to make our visit a pleasant one. Brett, our server, was attentive and patient while he described the holiday menu which gave three fixe price options for us to choose from. He was readily available throughout our visit where he willingly engaged in some light hearted banter.
Our meal began with samples of three house selected appetizers, each fresh and tasty. They were followed by an excellent Caesar salad and a light and flavorful pea soup that was superb. Our entrees were rack of lamb and prime rib. The lamb was accompanied by green beans and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were topped with ratatouille that was pushed aside because of the unpleasant taste. Both of us found the meats to be okay, yet we had the sense that they had been marinated or processed in some way that made them seem somewhat unnatural. The house selected dessert soon arrived and was rapidly devoured!
We found the prices here to be quite reasonable and, because they are not far from home, we will likely return to experience their regular menu.
We have eaten in this restaurant many times. Usually the food is good and the service is very good. Sunday's dinner was a totally different experience. We had an early reservation so we could attend a concert at the Sellersville theater.
We arrived at 6:00 for a 6:00 PM reservation. There was a wait for someone to take our order after we had received drinks. The dinner did not arrive until 7:00 PM. The waitress noted she had spoken to the kitchen and the manager did comp one appetizer. The reason for the delay in receiving our order was not explained.
The food we received was not good. It was barely warm - as if it had been left sitting for a long time. (I would have sent mine back if we had not been rushed by the point it arrived.) I did not like my food. My husband ordered one of the daily specials. It was a venison dish and the venison was tough and barely edible. Neither one of us ate much of our food. All in all VERY disappointing.
I hope this is an aberration as we often go to the Sellersville Theater, and The Washington House Restaurant has been a consistent part of our experience. I now have second thoughts about returning.
Our first visit here - an ideal mid-point to meet friends from Allentown. Noise level was very comfortable, though it was fairly crowded, and the food very good, in quaint surroundings. A great pre-concert dining place for anyone going to the Sellersville Theater. We'll be back!
Service was slow, small menu, ok place.
Excellent as usual!! Brought a friend from out of town for her birthday and she loved it!
The setting of the restaurant is very charming, with numerous small rooms and an early 20th-century residential feeling. The menu offers some nice entrees (pan-roasted duck breast and venison chili both very good) and a good wine list. Service was attentive and friendly. An excellent option for dining before an event in the Sellersville theater.
I would have like a few more choices, but it was delicious! They even gave us glass of champagne compliments of the house.
Great service and food! Ate before a show at the Sellersville Theatre.
Great place for pre-show dinner. Very classy. Prices are reasonable.
We have eaten here twice as part of our stay in their hotel. The food is good and the staff is
nice and accommodating. We will be coming again in the future.
Really enjoyed our meal. Plus the service was great. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a drink in the bar before dinner and the female bartenders were so sweet and accommodating.
We ate in the bar area which had been renovated since we had been there befor. Great food and service. Monday’s was three dolla martini night till six pm.
Ordered filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Food tasted great BUT was presented stacked- potatoes, asparagus, filet, mushroom topping. Would've preferred conventionally presented separately on the plate so as not to mix all the flavors together. Other than that, all was nearly perfect, staff was friendly and not automated, busboy was attentive to keeping water glasses full, everything served in a timely manner. We were attending a live music show next door at the Sellersville Theatre then spent overnight in one of the 11 available rooms upstairs from the restaurant in the Washington House Hotel. For us it was a 3 hour drive from home, but we fully plan to return and highly recommend it for anyone seeking good food and accommodations all in one place! Sellersville Theater sign as seen from our Tower Suite Room in accompanying photo.
This is a really lovely upscale venue with very relaxed and personable servers. There are several separate dining areas. All of the well-spaced tables were taken in the room we were seated on a rainy Thursday (March 1st) evening. Like us, many were dining in advance of the 8 PM show (Suzy Bogguss) at the adjoining theater.
My wife and I split an appetizer and a Caesar salad. The flatbread app was tasty but not memorable. However, the Caesar salad was among the best we have ever had. For entrees we had the rack of lamb and the large filet and they were done to perfection. They were juicy and flavorful on both counts. The garlic mash and grilled asparagus which accompanied them were excellent and generously portioned.
With no previous visits to the Washington House, we had modest expectations. We left licking our lips and smiling broadly at our good fortune. With cocktails and tangy rhubarb crumble ala mode for dessert, dinner for two was just under $100 without tip.
We drove from NE Philly to Sellersville in adverse conditions in about 75 minutes. Still, I would heartily recommend the trip for any fellow carnivore. (I am not sure when Suzy Bogguss will return but she is a confection for the eyes and ears in her own right.)
Perfect evening. Amazing fast service and deliciousp food!
If you can go anywhere at all forget those places and just come here. You will not be sorry.
We are locals and are frequent visitors to the Washington House, as well as to the theatre. The wait staff is very friendly, hard working, and helpful. The food is good, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The bar area is cozy and lively, and there are several quiet dining rooms which are very nice as well. Warm weather dining on the patio is also very enjoyable, as well as an impromptu stop for a drink after a bike ride in the park. We will return.
Stayed over night in on property hotel after local concert! Enjoyed so much tried to make 2 more reservations for concerts later this year!!
Wonderful experience with great service. Food was very good and atmosphere very warm and comfortable.
The Food and Staff were Absolutely Amazing!!!!!
Haven't been to the Washington House in years. Everything was lovely. Will dine again here soon.
We have been coming here for years. My wife ordered her 8 oz filet rare, but it came out well done and she could not cut it with the knife they gave us.this is two times in a row now,so we will not be going back for a while.
Great food and good service.
Went there before a Neal Morse show at the theater next door. Food was okay, calamari was sparse and kind of bland, and the burger was practically Raw, although we ordered it medium rare. Good draft beer selection, very friendly waitress.
Consistently very good food with a great variety of choices. Wait staff is always friendly
and accommodating. It's absolutely "The" place to go for special occasions or when going to the theatre.
