Great place for pre-show dinner. Very classy. Prices are reasonable.
Really enjoyed our meal. Plus the service was great. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a drink in the bar before dinner and the female bartenders were so sweet and accommodating.
We ate in the bar area which had been renovated since we had been there befor. Great food and service. Monday’s was three dolla martini night till six pm.
Ordered filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Food tasted great BUT was presented stacked- potatoes, asparagus, filet, mushroom topping. Would've preferred conventionally presented separately on the plate so as not to mix all the flavors together. Other than that, all was nearly perfect, staff was friendly and not automated, busboy was attentive to keeping water glasses full, everything served in a timely manner. We were attending a live music show next door at the Sellersville Theatre then spent overnight in one of the 11 available rooms upstairs from the restaurant in the Washington House Hotel. For us it was a 3 hour drive from home, but we fully plan to return and highly recommend it for anyone seeking good food and accommodations all in one place! Sellersville Theater sign as seen from our Tower Suite Room in accompanying photo.
This is a really lovely upscale venue with very relaxed and personable servers. There are several separate dining areas. All of the well-spaced tables were taken in the room we were seated on a rainy Thursday (March 1st) evening. Like us, many were dining in advance of the 8 PM show (Suzy Bogguss) at the adjoining theater.
My wife and I split an appetizer and a Caesar salad. The flatbread app was tasty but not memorable. However, the Caesar salad was among the best we have ever had. For entrees we had the rack of lamb and the large filet and they were done to perfection. They were juicy and flavorful on both counts. The garlic mash and grilled asparagus which accompanied them were excellent and generously portioned.
With no previous visits to the Washington House, we had modest expectations. We left licking our lips and smiling broadly at our good fortune. With cocktails and tangy rhubarb crumble ala mode for dessert, dinner for two was just under $100 without tip.
We drove from NE Philly to Sellersville in adverse conditions in about 75 minutes. Still, I would heartily recommend the trip for any fellow carnivore. (I am not sure when Suzy Bogguss will return but she is a confection for the eyes and ears in her own right.)
Perfect evening. Amazing fast service and deliciousp food!
If you can go anywhere at all forget those places and just come here. You will not be sorry.
We are locals and are frequent visitors to the Washington House, as well as to the theatre. The wait staff is very friendly, hard working, and helpful. The food is good, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The bar area is cozy and lively, and there are several quiet dining rooms which are very nice as well. Warm weather dining on the patio is also very enjoyable, as well as an impromptu stop for a drink after a bike ride in the park. We will return.
Stayed over night in on property hotel after local concert! Enjoyed so much tried to make 2 more reservations for concerts later this year!!
Wonderful experience with great service. Food was very good and atmosphere very warm and comfortable.
The Food and Staff were Absolutely Amazing!!!!!
Haven't been to the Washington House in years. Everything was lovely. Will dine again here soon.
We have been coming here for years. My wife ordered her 8 oz filet rare, but it came out well done and she could not cut it with the knife they gave us.this is two times in a row now,so we will not be going back for a while.
Great food and good service.
Went there before a Neal Morse show at the theater next door. Food was okay, calamari was sparse and kind of bland, and the burger was practically Raw, although we ordered it medium rare. Good draft beer selection, very friendly waitress.
Consistently very good food with a great variety of choices. Wait staff is always friendly
and accommodating. It's absolutely "The" place to go for special occasions or when going to the theatre.
Great food, great people, great service Always a wonderful experience.
Service was terrible. We waited for food for almost an hour. We got bread right before they brought out food. Atmosphere needs updating. I would never go back.
Table was perfect, server was friendly and helpful, dinner was delicious, recommend the key lime torte
It was a busy night and the wait staff may have been short; service was a bit slower than normal. It took awhile to get our food, and when we did it was apparent that my meal had been sitting waiting for my wife’s to be prepared: my plate was very warm, where her’s was not, and my duck had become a bit overdone. Not terrible, but not what we’ve come to expect from The Washington House.
Prix fixe dinner for Valentines Day was well done. Many entree choices and delicious starters and desserts complimented the meal. Attentive staff and reasonably priced. Next door to the Sellersville Theater so perfect selection.
As always a very enjoyable meal. Prompt and professional service and great food.
Wasn't sure how to answer the noise level rating above. The noise level was fine and I was able to have an easy conversation with my date.
Great food and good value. The ambiance is intimate, fairly quiet and nicely lit.
We came for dinner prior to a show next door at the theater. As always, the meal was great and the service was stellar!
Always a pleasure to dine here. The seasonal menu always has quality items on it and all are impeccably prepared. A fine list of beers, wines and cocktails are also available. Right next door the the Sellersville Theater Sonora a perfect place pre-show also.
We went there on a Thursday night before a music show next door at the Sellersville Theater. Service was prompt and attentive. When I asked about the Australian red wine I was given a sample to try (it was great!). The beer list was very extensive. There was a special menu of cajun food to go with the Beausolei concert that night. So cool! The surf and turf was fried catfish with steak and grits. Delicious! We also shared some items from the regular menu. The arugula salad had candied pecans, fresh blueberries and strawberries and these amazing fried feta balls. The rice and spinach balls did not disappoint. We ended the meal sharing the caramel pecan pie. The waitress and other servers were pleasant and they got us out in plenty of time to get next door for the concert.
The staff was welcoming and the atmosphere was cozy and casual. The food was fantastic and prices are reasonable. I had the shrimp and scallop risotto which was awesome! And my date had the lamb which was fabulous! The carrot cake to dessert was to die for! Definitely a great stop before attending a show at the theater next door. I would be sure to make reservations as there was definitely a full house. But for as crowded as it was the service did not suffer, excellent service!
Always a good choice!
Have eaten here many times and never had a bad meal or a bad time. Service is great and people are very friendly.
Fabulous food. A tad pricey but to be fair-expected for a fine dining restaurant such as this. Thanks for a delicious evening!
Our server Jessica was excellent!
My husband and I came to the Washington House, to celebrate our anniversary and because we had surprise gifts that I received when I was there in December (great experience then!). We were excited to find out we had won 2 free entrees, however, it kind of went downhill from there. I ordered the calamari, and I have to say, for the history and reputation of the restaurant, I was so disappointed that it was one of the worst calamari I'd ever had. It was so rubbery and chewy, it was like they opened a frozen bag of frozen calamari and threw it in the oven. I had to be honest and tell our waitress how bad it was, she even commented that sometimes it comes like that... what? She unfortunately wasn't the sharpest waitress either, we never got rolls and butter (we didn't realize until we saw other tables getting them and we were half-way through our dinner). The manager came to our table to apologize and offered another app, at that point I was just ready for dinner, so she offered to take off our tab. The dinner was good (I had the petite filet and my hubby the duck, they were yummy), but I ordered a cappuccino & my husband asked for another bottle of beer (the waitress didn't really check on us mid-dinner, maybe once, so he was completely out of his drink at the end of his dinner). It seriously took about 10 min to get his bottle of beer, meanwhile, he could have just walked up to the bar to get it. The negatives of the night were easier to swallow, because with the gift cards (and the app credited), we paid $35 for the meal, and unfortunately we couldn't leave a full 20% for the waitress, for the lack of service. I've always loved the Washington House, but I'm sad to say, we won't be coming back after that experience.
We had dinner here before attending an event at the Sellersville Theater. The Washington House has great ambience, great food at a reasonable price, and the service was excellent.
This was a great find! The ambiance and the people were outstanding. They all seem proud and knowledgeable of the history and development of the restaurant, hotel, and theatre. We were treated very special and enjoyed every single one minute. We will absolutely return and bring our friends and family.
That we went on a Friday night affected some of the review. It made it loud, but I believe it was a significant reason the service was pretty slow. We enjoyed the food and really enjoyed the atmosphere. 3 of us 4 had the shrimp and scallops risotto, and all of us liked it. We went because we were going to the Sellersville Theatre afterwards, and this was essentially next door.
one of our regular spots. Always good. great cocktails. Onthis occassion mashed potatoes not hot but good taste.
We came for a quick, light supper before a show at the Sellersville Theater. We were pleased to be able to choose a sandwich from the dinner menu. The service was polite and fast. Amount of food was just right. We made it to the show with time to spare. We will definite do this again.
Carly, our server, was the best and made an already delightful dining experience that much better. The food was served in a timely fashion and paced perfectly. When we asked some questions about the drink and food menus she answered our queries completely. When we added an extra person without prior notice it was handled promptly and patiently. We are looking forward to our next visit!
Our waitress was really good, I cannot remember her name, unfortunately. We were there on Saturday night, 6:00 1/13/18. The place was crowded, full, and loud. The wait staff was super busy. But we never felt like we were being rushed, which was incredible.
I have to tell you, the woman who was refilling water glasses (young, blonde) was so very great. She had a big smile, a calm demeanor, and was very friendly. Loved her!!!
We had a wonderful meal.
