Kid's Chicken Pot Pie
Frango® Mint Chocolate Ice Cream Pie
Chocolate crust, Frango Mint chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, fresh whipped cream
Beef meatloaf with pine nuts and spinach, whipped potatoes, red pepper gravy, fresh sautéed vegetables, onion strings
Two of us had the chicken pot pie with side salad. The side salad was absolutely excellent. The chicken pot pie was very good.
The third member of our party had the brisket which she said was excellent.
While we had reservations, they were unnecessary. The restaurant was less than 25% full and everyone who wanted to could sit at a window table which I highly recommend.
Small and excellent menu
Franco mint ice cream pie will be dreamt about for awhile
Delicious food! A great place for memories at the holidays and a nice place in the off season when it is not so crowded and loud.
We have eaten at The Walnut Room many times over the years, and while it's still there we wanted to go again, maybe for the last time (we're in our 80s).
Everything was lovely, and we enjoyed it . . . just sad to see it so empty.
Nice and quiet experience
The Walnut Room never disappoints!
It was wonderful to revisit this Chicago treasure. Food, service and ambience exceeded my expectations!
Great place & had all to ourself !!
It’s sad to see how little the room no longer resembles the day of yeter year.
Macy’s is doing horrible job of keep it up.
The menu is now very sad. No longer the famous chicken salad.
My last trip
I telling other’s skip it.
I bought a out of towner snd how embarrassing.
Good food! Was there for brunch.
Place is very run down but clean.
Probably wont go again.
Limited menu—understandable given the COVID moment we are coming out of. Ordered the chicken mandarin salad, but forgot was for the grilled chicken to be served warm. Doubt it was grilled in real time.
Nice lunch in a beautiful setting. Enjoyed the Franco ice cream pie to top off the lunch.
It was a good lunch.
The Walnut Room needed more lights. The artwork that was displayed was in the dark.
My fellow diners thought their meals were fine, however my brunch items came out luke warm at best which just was not appetizing for a hollandaise sauce. Loved the idea of a jazz brunch but would have been so much more excited if it were in the big fountain room instead of the side room. COVID probably had something to do with the low attendance number & change of venue.
General manager was very attentive and removed my dish from the bill.
Lovely and laid back experience
I cannot grant enough praise to The Walnut Room. The entire experience was terrific. Mark served us. We had brunch; preceded by the Mimosa Flight, and finished with their Salmon Eggs Benedict and the quintessential Chicken Pot Pie. Both were wonderful. Some Frank Sinatra in the distant background allowed us to converse in normal tone over the table and our coffee.
I love this restaurant. In spite of being short staffed(no busboys), they did a terrific job of getting your food to you and taking your order efficiently. The menu is limited but it is suffering from the same shortages as other restaurants and is keeping their prices extremely reasonable compared to other downturn restaurants.
The staff is obviously overjoyed at being back to work and it shows in their wonderful personalities and service.
Beautiful dining room! The food is delicious and generous sized portions. Service was very attentive. A great place to have lunch in between shopping or doing touristy things.
Classic Chicago dining that has not changed and that is good. Beautiful dining room with Chicago views. Food and service were excellent and a good value. Mandatory stop for out of town guests.
Great lunch with family!
I love eating at the Walnut Room and yesterday's visit was fantastic! My friend and I ordered the famous pot pie which was delicious and full of hearty chicken chunks. The service was quick and friendly and the staff are always kind and helpful.
Took the train downtown late Saturday morning for my mother’s birthday brunch. No wait – we were seated 15 minutes before our reservation when we arrived. Quiet experience, nice ambiance, great distancing of tables I had the started caesar salad, the short rib hash and a latte for afterward. Excellent experience overall.
Very nice lunch, great view. Good service, i heartily recommend the walnut room to all.
Great meal but we wished it had been made more evident ahead of time that it was a weekend princess brunch aimed at kids.
We had an awesome time!!! Great experience
We attended the Fairy Brunch and it was wonderful! They had the Queen Fairy and all of the other Fairies, from Christmas time, walking around granting wishes and making the day magical! Service was amazing! Our server took care of 15 of us and accommodated separate checks without one error! She was wonderful with the kids and kept on top of each request! We can’t wait for the Christmas in July event!
My daughter, mother, and I had the BEST time at the Fairy Princess Brunch! The attention to detail from the wands to the desserts were lovely. Each Princess was kind and spent time with my daughter-she loved it! We hope it is something we can do again together. Thank you to the Princesses and staff of the Walnut Room!
The WR is convenient and quiet, but the menu hasn't been altered in eons.
I hope this restaurant lasts forever. It's a beautiful room full of memories. The food is to live for! The drinks are wonderful. Please open the wine bar soon.
Latonya was a wonderful server, attentive and kind. The food was something left to be desired. Their "chicken chili" tasted like it was pureed chicken and beans with taco seasoning and maybe 5 whole beans. The chicken for the sale was dry and rubbery that it was in edible. My meatloaf was oversalted. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans however all I can taste was butter. The frango mint ice cream pie was the best part of the meal.
Service is slow and allergy information is not clear.
Good food reasonably priced and the tables are distinctively distanced for social distancing
We did the Sunday brunch and it was delicious. There was a good variety of meals and drinks to choose from. The service was excellent. Very happy we went!
I love the Walnut Room! The chicken salad and Franco cheesecake were outstanding! Our server was so pleasant and efficient!! A five-star experience........but........... no one was there! A total of maybe 3 tables of people who ate and then we were totally alone at 1:30 on a Wed.
So sad...........I do hope the restaurant stays open. Ruthie Hornaday
Mother’s Day Brunch was AmazIng. I felt so special. My daughter and I sat right next to the fountain and enjoyed delicious food, great service. The Walnut room is a special place to visit all year, but especially on a holiday!
The ambiance and experience was just as I remembered! Before Covid my family and I would go to the Walnut room around Christmas time every year! I’m so glad it’s back open!
It was a pleasure to spend Mother's Day at such an iconic venue. The service was outstanding and the food was superb.
Went here recently for lunch. Our waiter was one of the best we’ve ever had. The food was great, prices were very reasonable. The ambience was classic, of a time gone by error.
