Service was terrible. Our food took an hour and a half to come after we ordered. Food was not anything out of the ordinary.

We always have a wonderful meal here while in beautiful Mountain Village/Telluride. The owners John and Janice are always making sure the meal is everything you expect. We usually try a selection of tapas each time along with our entrees. Wine selection is good. The guitarist on Tuesday and Thursday makes the experience even better.

Food was pretty good. We ate at some exceptional places in Telluride during our trip so it’s hard to give an unbiased review.

While the quality of the food was solid, we had a rough start with the staff and while our server made attempts to recover, we never quite got there.

We arrived 25 minutes early and expected to have to wait at the bar as it was spring break week in a ski resort village. I began to say that we knew we were early but never got the chance as the hostess interrupted me to tell me that we were "VERY" early and would have to wait at the bar. Then there was some confusion over the two seats that seemed to be empty at the bar and it was not handled well by the hostess or our high strung server. Then we were told there was a cancellation and would be seated soon, which turned out to be 20 minutes later at 7:35 for our 7:30 reservation.

The nail in the coffin for service was when we asked if the pasta with shrimp and cream sauce could be served without the shrimp (one of us is vegetarian). Our server responded that she could ask but it was spring break and the Chef might have a meltdown. After a moment I asked that she do her job and ask the Chef and leaving out one ingredient seemed to not be such a big deal after all.

The food was good quality and well prepared. I had roasted chicken with a root vegetable gratin and both were yummy. My partner had rigatoni with cream sauce (minus the shrimp) and it was average.

The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. Unfortunately we were seated next to the kitchen and overheard every under the breath comment of staff going in and out about who was not doing things the way they should be done.

Of note we happened to meet the owner on our last morning in Telluride and when she told us she owned the Village Table and saw our reaction we shared our stories. She was 100% receptive to the feedback. Given the positive reviews that led to our reservation we might have had a one off experience. And, in retrospect, if we hand not had such a negative experience with the staff, we would likely have a very different overall opinion.

All was fine until we were to pay our bill. We had been to this establishment for Valentines, sat at the bar - two of us - had a very nice exchange with the bartender/server, great food and talked with other people at the Bar. We used our gift cards to pay the bill and there was a balance on the card as explained by the server. Each cards value $100 - $43.0+ left on one. We went back to the restaurant with another couple and when it came time to pay the bill, we were informed our gift card value was Zero. We didn't make a scene. Didn't want to embarrass staff or make false actuations toward staff. There was NO effort to resolve the question when explained. Kind of like we were attempting to get something for nothing with a zero balance gift card. I must assume someone on staff took the card with value and gave us the second card that had been exhausted. Lesson learned - have them give and sign a receipt. Trust and customer value abused. I suspect staff used the card for their own benefit - or used it to pay for a friends bill in exchange for $$…. so sad. We'll be back, but will monitor our cards MUCH MORE carefully.... Maybe when Village Table reviews this, they will give us an adjustment some day.

After a day in the snow we showed up with tired and hangry kids. My 3 year old was getting especially fussy after the short walk over from the Peaks. Our table was a little small and the glassware seemed cramped. My 3 year old didn’t want to stay in her seat. The night was quickly feeling like a disaster. We had found out the night before that room service wasn’t a good option so luckily neither of us were saying what should have been. Quickly a sweet blonde waitress saved our day. She brought a fresh attitude (even though she chatted about how she was a ski instructor in her daytime hours) and coloring books. The toddler found her seat and her smile before the spaghetti came. By the time she brought dessert menus we were brave enough to order one and she rewarded our bravery with a special treat and the best cherries any of us have ever tasted! In a nutshell, service made the night. I couldn’t have enjoyed the red trout without such a good waitress but enjoy it I did! Kids all finished spaghetti and meatballs so big hit! Chocolate Mouse was given big compliments by the older girls with every bite!

Ate there twice in a week and would go back if I lived in the area.

I am recommending this restaurant in spite of terrible service. The food was OK, although I have had way better paella.
We ordered 2 glasses of wine right as we sat down. We waited forever, I don't know exactly but I would guess 20 min. I had to remind the waiter that we had ordered wine. Then they brought us the wrong paella.
The waiter was apologetic though, so no rudeness on his part. Except for the service, the rest of the evening was pleasant.

Love The Village Table... they have a killer Happy Hour with half priced tapas and their white sangria is the best!!! Of course, if you have time for a full dinner, they have great selections. We especially love their seafood choices.

We showed up 15 minutes before our reservation. There are tables ready, so we were seated right away. No one came to our table to take a drink order for 15 minutes. And then we waited another 15 minutes before drinks arrived. We ordered the tapas for two. The food was decent, but nothing stood out as outstanding. No explanation was given for any of the Chef's selections. Once the food was delivered, we never saw our waitress until she delivered the check. We weren't offered additional drinks or dessert. We will not return when there are so many exceptional food options with great service in Telluride.

Very good and authentic tasting food, generous and well crafted drinks. Had olives, Marcona almonds, chorizo, anchoas, elk sausage, and croquetas. The anchoas were smaller than what you find in Spain but had a great taste that let one appreciate the flavor of the fish (normally anchoas' taste is overwhelmed by vinegar and garlic). The local elk sausage was incredibly tasty, and again, the spices were complementing the flavor of the meat rather than overpowering it. The most impressive of all of these dishes were the croquetas, served with a delicious alioli. The croquetas were very tasty and incredibly fluffy, with a consistency that made them delicate and light. Croquetas in Spain are denser and hevier. If Johnny, the owner, ever returns to Spain to open a restaurant, he won't need to change a thing in his cooking and his croquetas are likely to be the envy of the barrio.

We have eaten at The Village Table many time with mixed reviews. The last time was about a year ago and we did not have a good experience. The meal we had this week was very good. We had tapas(artichokes, shrimp, calamari steak, meatballs and salmon). All were great except the salmon which we thought would be wrapped in the puff pastry versus just being on top the salmon. It was still good although our least favorite. We had a nice bottle of Rioja. The service was also good this time. Based on this last experience, we will go back again.

We felt rushed by Trina the waitress and initially we were the only ones in there. Ails sauvingon blanc from Chile and the Red ale beer were great. Goat cheese salad was excellent as was the gmail tapas. The shrimp, meatballs, fish croquet, tomato bread, and chorizo were all average at best. The berry and peach cobbler had very little peaches in it and was mostly sugar and very small for the price.

We had a table of seven and ordered the Around the World tapas, all 18 tapas items on the menu. The menu suggested this would be appropriate for 4-6 people. We ordered one other tapas, short ribs were excellent, and all 7 of us were more than satisfied. Patatas Bravas and Quail were other highlights.

This could potentially be a great tapas restaurant that stands out in the Mountain Village. While the table server was fantastic, the kitchen service fell short. The plates came out 1 hour after placing the order. Who appeared to be the head chef sat at a table chatting with her family, while patrons wait an hour. If a kitchen help did not show up, I would expect the head chef to step up to the plate. A disappointment.
