There were only three table occupied, and yet it was a three hour adventure. I am one who never likes to be rushed, and want to "dine", not "eat", but this was over the top. No idea why. Food was good, but I'll not go back.
Our meals were fantastic! I had the chicken parm with their fabulous sausage bolognaese sauce, and my wife had the salmon. Both portions were huge, leaving plenty to bring home for a second meal. Service was just a bit slower than we would have liked, but there was a large party going on and the wait was understandable and well worth a minor wait!
I liked my barbecued salmon but my husband and my cousin hated their meals. My husband said he's never had chicken piccata with a cream sauce and my cousin said what was supposed to be prosciutto on her chicken dish was more like burned bacon and she didn't eat much of it since it didn't taste "right". During our cappuccinos I noted a bug crawling on the wall but didn't say anything in order to leave peacefully since my companions were already in bad moods. Perhaps these comments are unfair to the establishment, since our server was lovely, but it is what it is and we will not be going back.
As I indicated: food, service, and ambiance were excellent. We, in fact, have visited this establishment on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed.
It was our first time here. The food was delicious. DELICIOUS! Our server was awesome too. She was a good time. Made us feel very comfortable. Her name was Michelle and would recommend people ask for her lol The food came out at a timely fashion. Was not rushed at all. We were able to eat and enjoy it all. Definitely coming back very soon.
Food excellent service outstanding!
If your lucky you’ll get Michelle as your server she was awesome and funny great sense of humor!
Food was excellent and it was a very nice dinner. Enjoyed ourselves very much.
I regret not getting our waitress's name because she was wonderful and deserves an extra shout out. We went on a Wednesday and it was perfect. Busy but not crowded. Its cozy and comfortable with amazing food and great service.
The food is excellent. Fresh and delicious. Server is very attentive and offers wonderful suggestions.
The only criticism I have is the restaurant is cold, so it was not very comfortable.
We will definitely go again.
Very nice place and if you have a sweet tooth this is definitely your kind of place Chef goes all out preparing a lot of nice desserts
Very accommodating staff, excellent food and service.
excellent service, good service. atmosphere was very comfortable
We were seated promptly upon arrival and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The decor has been updated more recently however, just a little too bright. They could/should dim the
overhead lighting a little. It would add to the ambiance of the nicely glowing fireplace. We had two orders of veal chops, a hanger steak and chilean sea bass. All meals were good sized portions and very tasty but seemed to all have the same maderia wine gravy...it was good but odd that it was on everything. We ended with cappuccinos and dessert samplers. All in all, very enjoyable and will definitely return.
always a very good and fun dining experience. love it here.
Village in is a 1950’s throwback both in decor and menu. While we were looking forward to some old standards, our three meals were below what we would expect. Tough strip steak was served with over cooked green beens, crab stuffed shrimp were charred and overdone and the burger was over seasoned. Our meal arrived over an hour after we sat down. Although the waitress was solicitous, the manager was unapologetic, stating that was what we should expect on a busy Saturday evening.
Great food and service. The menu is extensive and each selection was excellent.
Our server, Heidi, is a real pro.
Consistently good meals. Great value. Warm, friendly and inviting. Great bar. Nice party room and wine cellar for small parties. Perfect neighborhood restaurant.
Very enjoyable, food was outstanding! we’ll be back soon
Everything was delicious as usual. Michelle our server was great.
Our server Michelle was great and the food was delicious. Will definitely return!
Went for our birthdays. Had been there 15 years ago, remembered it was good. On the reservation request it asked for any special requests. I asked for a table near a wall or in a corner as my husband has hearing issues. Got there and was seated in th middle of the restaurant, with a birthday party of at least 40 people right next to us. I told the seater that we requested a corner table or near a wall and was told this was the only table for 2. The others were tables for 4. I explained the issue and was told this is all I have for you. Why ask for special requests if they are ignored? The food was good and the server very good, but the noise level was soooo high, we couldn’t have conversation! I will never go back!
One of my regular spots for a relaxing dinner, with conversation and good food!
This is a nice local restaurant with good food and a generally quiet environment. The restaurant is possibly overly ambitious; concentrating on fewer more choice selections might be a better option. The prices are not a bargain and the decor is a bit dated. Nice bar crowd. Great potential for the future.
been coming here for years. consistently great food and good value. Nice atmosphere. Lively bar and John has great appy choices to accompany drinks. Reasonably priced
Great location and great food! Wonderful times whenever we go. People and staff are friendly and the place is a great value for the meals you get. Interesting combos for meals, so food is high quality.
Took our mother here for her birthday. We loved it! We were from out of town so we needed a neighborhood gem. We found it at The Village Inn. Delightful in every way. We will go back for sure. Great friendly service. Food was very good.
There are plenty of dining options in my area and we enjoy going to most. However, we now consider The Village Inn our "go to" place for a great meal and friendly service.
My wife, son and I came to New Jersey to visit family, on a whim we decided to find a local place with good reviews. The Village Inn already had good reviews and we a groupon to go with it, so we decided to give it a shot. My wife and I are an interracial Muslim couple, and given our current political climate I was a little on edge to begin the evening and I readied myself for anything. However the wait-staff, fellow patrons and even the ownership/management were so kind and courteous to us that my worries were quickly dispelled. The food was delicious and delivered in a timely manner. Our hostess/server, Heidi, was extremely helpful and even gave us directions to make it to the restaurant in order to avoid the flooded roads. The ownership and other patrons played with our son and engaged with us too. I really hope that we can make our visits to The Village Inn a regular occurrence for years to come! Thanks everyone!
We have been here several times and never dissapointed. Awesome
wonderful restaurant for the value. Food was vry good as was the house wine.
Our waitress was very efficient and friendly
Food was delicious
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Village Inn for honoring my request for my dinners to be as low in calories as possible. They really created "spa cuisine," and I'm very grateful! (Photos are grilled veal chop with steamed broccoli rabe, and plain broiled Chilean Sea Bass with simple vegetables.)
This was for a Mother's Day Dinner. The menu was limited to a few items. I had the filet mignon and my wife had the shrimp scampi. The dishes tasted like they were precooked and were just warmed up when I ordered. My wife's shrimp was over angel hair. It was made with RED sauce and not garlic and butter sauce. I have never heard of scampi made with RED sauce. We brought our 8 yr old son. They would not deviate from the menu present for that day. He wanted a burger and they would not accommodate him. The desserts were various slices of cake that appeared to be sliced from the night before. They were dried out. Would not go back again!
Excellent service and food!!!!! Been here a few times and they never disappoint! You feel like family when you walk through the door! Highly recommend if you haven't been here yet!
This was my third visit and still love it. The service and the food are awesome
Second visit and was not disappointed. I plan on bringing my parents for a visit soon
Not a great experience at all. Took 1 hour for salads to come and then all the meals were not as described on menus. One person had to send the burnt sea bass back and it was half a portion. And on top of it no concession at all from the restaurant
Enjoyed the meal, service and bar.
As always, great food, great service and great ambiance. One of Wayne's hidden treasures.
