The Villa is a lovely restaurant and the ambience is outstanding!
Outside dining for lunch was perfect. Sunny but we had the perfect umbrella to avoid direct sunlight. Food was very tasty. Only one drawback, behind us was the speaker that played non-stop music. Although the music was refined, the speaker was located right behind me at chair/bench level, it was very hard to have easy conversation and distracting at times. Maybe, they can move it to a higher location.
Love this restaurant...eat here often..Food is always great!!
Went for Valentines Day. They had a special present 3 course meal menu. Food was really good. Steak was amazing and so was dessert. The only problem was the service. They really were rushing people out the tables. I even overheard one of the waiters telling the other " you need bring the food quick so the leave quick". It might be because of Valentines. But iverall recommend this place. And the atmosphere is beautiful. Good for dates!
Nice place but food was underwhelming and service was slow. Due to slow service 25% was deducted from our bill which was much appreciated.
We felt very welcomed. Even though our table was not quite ready we sat at the bar and decanted our wine. We sat adjacent the fireplace which was lively.
The only challenge was the party of 10 next to us. They were so loud it was difficult to hear ourselves let alone the waitress. Just too loud for a quiet romantic dinner. Door was excellent. Service was good
Would recommend but warn about the terrible noise level
Good was good, but it's nothing special. Location is loud.
Great time and always amazing food!!!
I made a reservation for 10 people a week in advance and confirmed the reservation the day before we were scheduled to dine. We arrived at the scheduled time, 6:45PM and were told it would be a few minutes. By 7:00 I was getting worried, the kids were hungry and so was my 86-year old mother. I was told they were "working" on a place for us to all sit. At 7:20 we were brought to a table for 6, which had 4 extra chairs squeezed in to it. It was so tight that one of the chairs was on the literally on the edge of a stair. Once we sat down, it was painfully obvious that unless we wanted to be on top of each other while trying to enjoy a special family dinner, we could not sit at this table. We were going to leave when the manager said she could find another table. After looking at the option, it didn't seem any different or more spacious. By this time, it was almost 7:30. The only available option at The Villa was the outside patio, having plenty of space as it was dark and 50 degrees outside. The consensus was to give it a try as we were going on an hour of waiting/deciding to stay or leave and everyone was now, very hungry. This is when things changed. The outside patio is lovely, quite, conducive to conversation and generally very nice. There are large heating lamps strategically placed to produce a fairly comfortable temperature (at least where we were seated). I asked to speak with the manager and she came to the table with an offer to comp a couple of appetizers and deserts for our trouble. The service from our waiter and the support staff was excellent! We wanted for nothing. A thoughtful busser even brought my mother a little blanket! Everyone was extremely attentive and the food was delicious. So what started as a disaster, ended as a wonderful evening. I am most appreciative of the manager and her wait staff for rescuing this evening. So the beginning, not great but the end was wonderful!
Totally surprised at the service and quality of the food. They seem particularly adept at dealing with large parties which is a unique skill.
Enjoyable ambiance and good food. In the Summer, the outdoor patio is a fantastic area to dine.
Best of the best,
I love everything, food service
And more
We dine at Villa often. On our recent visit, with a reservation, we were seated at a communal table. Dinner was for a special occasion however there were no other tables available.
Cocktails have always been a friendly pour however, on this occasion our "on the rocks" drink was less than an ounce pour with a giant ice cube. Very pricy & disappointing.
This was a great spot! The food and drinks were fantastic - we will definitely be back.
Came to the Villa for DineLA. I have been wanting to visit this place based on pictures I've seen, especially of the beautiful outdoor area.
The restaurant is really nice with low light which could be good for dates and special occasions. Food and service was good and definitely a great value with DineLA.
Will definitely come back when the weather is nice so we can enjoy the beautiful outdoor area.
The kindest thing I can do is NOT review the meal we had on the Restaurant Week menu. The service was fine and even a bit overly attentive. These are nice people, but the food is not what it should be. We regretted our choice of restaurant.
The two things I would like to say is that this is the second time I have been at the Villa in the last few months and the tables with the plastic brown leather too either need tale clothes owned to be replaced with nicer tops, they are worn and looks like someone chewed the corners.
Also it would be nice if wait staff would hold off until everyone finishes eating before removing plates. All restaurants should do this as a courtesy to the slower diners.
Very nice atmosphere. Good food. Good happy hour menu. Not a huge selection but enough to choose from.
I wish the host read the note we left when we made a reservation on open table. We required a table by the fireplace knowing that the restaurant can be quite cold.
She didn't know but we told her and we waited. We also waited a long time for someone to come to our table to take the order!
She apparently didn't honor our reservation as well because after we left I received a message from open table that we did not show up to the Villa.
Beside the inconvenience we shared a nice meal and we hope to have a better experience next time.
The Villa is always a great spot. Wonderful outdoors area. Great happy hour. Food always nice!
I had also called the restaurant to ask what the corkage was and was told $15 per bottle. When I got the bill I was billed $40 for corkage (two bottles) and explained to the server that I was told differently over the phone the same day. He brought back the manager who told me I was wrong and that the person who gave me the information knew it was $20 per bottle and therefore that would be the charge--all this in front of my guests. So I was left with a very bad impression on a $300 bill. The manager should have discreetly removed the extra $10 charge.
Additionally, we had requested a table by the beautiful fireplace but we immediately noticed a gas smell which the server confirmed but the restaurant would not fix it and suggested that we move our table instead.
Made reservation at 7:45 for 13 people didn't sit us until 8:30. The waiter kept making weird faces.
Great food and great service :)
Need to be away from bar area to be able to have quiet conversation. Food and service excellent.
Before they closed because of a kitchen fire, I used to go there every time and even order to take out several times a week. I know I am crazy. One day after the fire happened I called to get some news on my favorite restaurant and make sure that everything was okay. I was very disappointed by the way the manager talked to me. Very rude and unprofessional. I know that in order to create new habits, you needs 21 repetitions, so now, I am on my way to Monty's (next door) and I am not sure I will be back to the Villa if they open again one day.
Good solid place for business discussion and reliable food.
It was New Year's Day, service was really slow. I had a great waiter but it seem like he was the only one there that day, and he was serving all the other tables. It wasn't until later when other helped came in, and they were very helpful always kept checking on us. Will give this place another try loved the food and service overall.
Great place. I love the ambience there. Good food and great staff. Steve the bartender is amazing.
We always enjoy dining at The Villa. The atmosphere is semi-formal with a welcoming warmth. The dishes are never disappointing and the servers are attentive.
An early dinner on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was lovely, the service very good, and the food between B+ (the large, tender, but not very tasty steak) to A's for divers scallops, salad, and wine. Not cheap, but it was an occasion. We very much like the Villa.
The service was excellent and the food was prepared to perfection, portions were just the right size for clean, healthy eating. A truly excellent eatery! Well done ~Cheers
Portions were a little small and the chairs were not very comfortable
We experience the worst service, don't believe the hype from the reviews. Food is average that came to our table in decent time. Drinks never did come they keep apologizing on how slow and backed up the bar was, we order 2 bottle beers and one mix drink not sure how many bartender's you need to open a bottle . Bottom line I was embarrassed with my wife and her best friend I thought I was taking my wife out to a great dinner for her birthday.
Such disappointing service ruined an evening. We are patient polite people, whose patience was sorely tested by extremely flustered wait staff, a glass of wine that took 35 minutes to arrive, and a waiter who abandoned her table. Dishes arrived at the wrong tables and, while our food was decent, it did not overcome the truly horrible service. Alas we won't be back to this lovely neighborhood restaurant until the management gets its act together.
Nice and elegant restaurant with delicious and tasty food. The setting is gorgeous and perfect place to celebrate special occasion!
A shorten menu for more than 12 guests? You have a kitchen, use it, serve the guests what they want off the main menu. That is an amateur move at best.
We started off our meal with a few appetizers. I remember making the comment that if our entrees were as good as our starters we were in for a very good meal. I was definitely correct. I would not hesitate recommending The Villa for an excellent meal. There were eight of us and everyone had a great meal.
Three of us went for Xmas dinner. The place was chaotic. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen but my beet salad had pieces of grapefruit in it :( , my husbands apple salad didn't have any apples in it ?? We were very happy that our main meals were all very yummy! But unfortunalely I got sick from the meal I had. I dont know what part of the meal made me sick. Maybe the tiramissu??
Worst $200 Ive ever spent for a meal. Everything was sub par. They need to hire a new chef.
