The View Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
$89 for the toughest filet we have ever had. It had a stringy consistency. We are one bite. The waiter did not offer to take it off the check. Instead he brought out a side of free Mac and cheese? Which we also didn’t eat. Also, I got an email from open table stating we no showed our reservation. They did not check us in? Awful experience.
Poor service. Didnt get menu for over 20 minutes. Steaks where overcooked. Overpriced and not good value for money. Requested window seat at online booking. Arrived early to ensure we would get one but no notice taken of online request yet there where available window view seats. Overall a bad experience and would not recommend to anyone.
I was hoping to be wowed. You can’t beat the view. And the restaurant rotates. So you have a great view of the NYC skyline. However..... the food was “ok”. The service was “ok”. It is a set price and menu and the price was steep for what you get. Go sit in the bar area. Have an appetizer. And then go to dinner somewhere else.
This dinner was for my 40th Birthday and I was visiting from the UK. My family organised a paid for bottle of champagne to be at my table when I got there and my Mother dealt with a lady called Shirley who (I was told) fantastic. Even when we had to change the date (due to my friends illness) Shirley communicated with myself (without letting the surprise slip) and my Mother and made the special gift happen - thank you!
Had a beautiful time at this amazing restaurant overlooking the wonderful views of the Manhattan skyline. The food for the Sunday brunch was absolutely delicious with a good variety to suit all tastes. Our waiter was very helpful and pleasant. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a special treat.
Everything was good but me and my friend didn’t like the waitress who insist for the tips ! She wrote this with a pen on a ticket. Be careful about that with different culture, and the comportment. She explained “it’s included”. But no, it wasn’t included, it’s additional after taxes ! She was very hungry during this explication and after departure.
Almost $500 for dinner for three - good food, nice wine, super view. Yes, the view is amazing. The food was interesting and of good quality. We didn't know that the ONLY option on this Saturday night was a $89 prix fixe - no à la carte available. The minimum wine bottle was $40. Also, you need to allow plenty of time to get up the escalator to the 3rd floor and CHECK YOUR COAT (this is REQUIRED) at the "free" coat check on the 3rd floor, then take the elevator to the 48th floor, then walk downstairs to the 47th floor and wait at the reception desk to be assigned your (reserved) table. The waiter took our order and almost at once brought two appetizers to 2 out of the 3 of us that we hdan't ordered (they were for a neighboring table). We had glasses of wine to start and had to ask to order the bottle of wine to accompany the main course, which didn't arrive until after we had started eating. The service was friendly and pleasant but not of a high professional standard. We had allowed 90 minutes for dinner and in fact had to race out, reversing the siairs/elevator/coat check/escalator process, arriving late for our 8 PM show on Broadway. The view is stunning, the food is very nice but the bill for 3 people - 3 fixed price 3-course dinners, 3 glasses of wine, 1 bottle of wine, with the 18th obligatory service charge, came to almost $500. So prepare to SPLURGE.
Fantastic experience! Great views of the city for newcomers. Antonio and Ziggy provided tremendous service. They helped to get us out a little sooner so we could grab our tickets (which I left in our hotel room). With a gluten sensitive eater, the options were tremendous and she was very pleased with her food, including raving about the gluten free bread that she said was the best she had ever had. Great job! Our experience was 5 Star!
I was worried this would be overly-touristy and that, since with a view like that, there's really no obligation for the food to be good, the restaurant may let that slide. I was wrong on all accounts. The atmosphere is calm, and while there are of course tourists, there also seemed to be plenty of locals just looking for a special meal--maybe an anniversary, birthday, etc.
They wouldn't seat us until the full party was there, even though we were willing to order for the person coming. This of course isn't unique to "The View," but I've never been able to understand it. All in all, though, it was a lovely, memorable, delicious experience. And that view. There isn't anything like it in the world.
Clearly a $720.00 bill for 4 is a bit of money - we began with cocktails in the lounge and then to dinner. That's close to $200 pp for an adequate dinner. So if your focus is the "view" then this is the place to be, can't get better to look at the city lights at night - but as a native New Yorker who's been there several times not going back - ! Luckily we've all seen it now.
Ingenious revolving restaurant . Great views and romantic. Excellent appetizers and dessert . Entree selection somewhat limited but were good. Pre fixe 3 course for $89. Special cocktails very pricey at $19. Great location pre or post theater. Service very good. Not the finest restaurant in NYC but the views, and very acceptable food, combined with location makes this a good choice.
Friends from Italy were in New York for the first time and The View really delivered! It was beautiful and an overall great night! Only thing is there is no clear communication about it being a price fixe only option online or on open table. We still enjoyed and the food was amazing so it was not a big deal. Just for the next time to be clear.
Disgustingly overpriced! $289.00 for a simple meal with very limited options. Went there for my fiancé’s birthday which was the only thing that made it tolerable. Food was OK but minimal, service was a perfect match. The view itself was OK but definitely nothing spectacular. Nothing high end about it, a complete hustle!
Booked this table 2 months prior and requested a window seat but instead, window tables are assigned in the order that Customers arrive, meaning even someone without a reservation can acquire a window seat over someone who has booked prior. We even noticed a couple on a nearby window table settling their bill so kindly asked to be moved (as a way for the restaurant to improve the night) but nobody even came back to us to confirm yay / nay then next then 15mins later, our main turns up and another couple take the window table.
Service was very slow, no offer to take coats / jackets etc so slung over the chair next to us - not really a great look for a ‘top class’ restaurant. First drinks order came to us wrong, then they ran out of what we had asked for (soft drinks / post mix...) then the next drinks order came to us wrong. Food was nowhere near the standard that I would expect when paying $89 per person for a three-course meal. And where do I start with serving mac’n’cheese with steak!!?
Lastly to top it off, the waiter then made a song and dance when there was no tip at the end of the meal. I tip good service and good food, and hate when something is expected, just because it’s American culture!
Great view of the city if you sit next to a window but definitely wouldn’t recommend going there for a meal or drinks!
It is family oriented. Very classy but you can wear casual attire. Food price on high end but very good, very tasty and very elegant in presentation. Waiters are very professional, friendly, attentive and courteous! The only revolving restaurant in the city so it is a must to try and to impress because it is indeed impressive! Make sure you ask to be seated by the window to make it really worth it.
We're charged 81% for gratuity. Found out at check out time. Ms.. O.did not respond yet, to credit -/+ $400.00 back to my Marriott visa card. Can u help? Otherwise, everything was an experience for a lifetime.!! Big thanks.
