The Victor Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We took my mom here to celebrate her 77th birthday and it was phenomenal. We loved it from the wonderfully talented waiters and waitresses who operatic voices were melodic to the wonderful service to the delicious food! An all around great experience. BRAVO, THE VICTOR CAFE! Thank you so much for making my mom's birthday special.
Didn't realize until we were there waitstaff take turns about every 15 minutes to sing opera, I hate Opera but loved this!! Food was excellent! Only knock was main course took way too long to be be brought to table. Highly recommend. No parking, except valet for $15!! Found free on Google maps at funeral home 2 blocks away.
This was our Valentine dinner!! Wow!! The food, service and singing was wonderful!! Great wine and atmosphere!! If you are a music buff, particularly opera & love delicious Italian food, Victors is a gem. Valet parking for only $12 bucks!!! Hadn’t been there for about 40 years but will definitely be back soon!!!
Incredible place. The wait staff are all professional opera singers and sing every 20 minutes or so. The place was featured in Creed (the movie) and has some incredibly paintings. It was a busy day when I went so there were some limitations (the kitchen forgot to take out walnuts from a dish I specifically asked not to have any in). However, it was valentines day and I know they were busy. I would definitely go again. The owner was lovely as was the atmosphere.
By far the best restaurant in Philly if you want Italian served at perfect intervals even when it’s packed, with servers standing by with fresh pepper and Parmesan right when you get your meal. The opera was awesome and was great for my boyfriend and I, who was skeptical at first!
We initially selected this place because it was in South Philly which was convenient for us and because it was reasonably priced. However, we were delighted to find the live singing and music was most unusual in that it featured opera, classical music and show tunes. To my surprise, my 21-year old daughter loved it as did I. Lots of interesting photos and memorabilia on the walls and throughout the place made for amazing photo ops. We would not have discovered this gem had it not been for Open Table. The only drawback is the parking in South Philly is very challenging if you don't use valet. Be prepared to circle around the block.
We have been here twice thus far, and most certainly looking forward to many more visits! My fiance and I love The Victor's Cafe, by far a favorite. The food is fantastic, cocktails are great, atmosphere is romantic and cozy, the staff is outstanding with amazing talent. Every mile driven to get there and dollar spent while there is worth it. One of a kind experience, and truly a gem!
It was so unique and special. They paid special attention to the note I left on open table about it being my mom’s birthday and came out with a cannoli dessert singing happy birthday in the most epic opera version. It was very thoughtful and impressive. Love this place!
My husband and I had a wonderful time! We both ordered one of the specials, Spaghetti Rusticana, which included a meatball, sausage and braciole- all delicious. Every 20 minutes or so one of the wait staff sings an operatic piece of music and the 3 that we heard while there were beautiful. Our waiter, Topper, was very attentive and pleasant, and his turn at singing brought the room almost to tears! Bravo!
Can't find anything to complain about! The food was moderately priced, well presented and absolutely delicious. The servers breaking out singing opera is alone worth the price of admission. While the place was packed, I arrived at 8:15 PM on a Saturday evening for an 8:15 reservation. We were seated and greeted by the wait staff at 8:16. Honestly, could not have had a nicer time.
The singing was fantastic. My daughter ordered the onion soup and the cheese on top was American cheese. My husbands salmon was a huge piece and he enjoyed it. But it’s the singing that makes thus place. Did not like when a singer was in the middle of a song and then left to sing in another room
I heard about this from a friend in D.C. who said we simply must go to Victor Café. She was right. We had good wine, great food (we both had pasta specials), and wonderful entertainment. Our server, Luciana/Lucy, was our favorite singer of the night. Such intensity! A gorgeous voice! The walls are covered in articles about Victor Café and old opera posters and record covers. It's a real gem in South Philly that's great for locals and tourists alike.
