The Verandah was fantastic - the only problem is they DON'T ACCEPT OpenTable reservations as they use a different reservation link on their website. They were kind enough to squeeze us in! OpenTable needs to fix this!
Great food and attentive service. A bit slow but it was a holiday & we were fine with socializing. Our second visit and I won’t be our last!
Had a lovely, delicious brunch while celebrating my friend’s birthday.
I'd like to give the Verandah 5 stars all the way across. Food is really good but doesn't have that extra burst of flavor or presentation that makes you take notice. The bar is terrific, they make an excellent Manhattan. The best space in the hotel is the Library. It's cozy, quiet and comfortable. However, the Dining Room is laid out like a school cafeteria and the walls and floor are stark hard surfaces so noise reverberates throughout the entire room. It literally has an echo. And, if they have a party going on in their separate party room, there's no way you can have a conversation without yelling, it's that LOUD. Additionally, the lights are bright and glaring, completing the cafeteria effect.
So, go to the Verandah, have a great drink and eat the good food but do it either in the Library or, at the right time of the year, on the veranda outside so you can also enjoy the people you're eating with.
I have eaten here twice for Sunday brunch. Good food, great ambiance, and great service both times. LOVE the brussels sprouts and chicken and waffles.
Fun breakfast following family thanksgiving weekend and Sunday brunch. Creative breakfast menu.
Thought it over priced for a buffet. Food was good but not hot. Had to continually flag someone for service or questions, rarely saw initial waiter. Will not return.
Thanksgiving dinner was a mediocre buffet. Desserts in particular were a real letdown but none of the food was outstanding. Dining room setup had an institutional feel that was not helped by being seated directly next to the buffet line. At $55 per person this was a meal to forget.
We chose The Verandah for Thanksgiving and we were very pleased with our choice. Service was prompt and attentive and selection of items on buffet was very satisfying. Already thinking about their Christmas Day buffet!
AMAZING Thanksgiving meal at The Verandah! Beautiful restaurant, friendly and attentive staff and incredible food.
Our party included 3 generations of family; ages ranging from 12 years of age to near 70. A variety of menu items were chosen. Everyone really enjoyed his/her food. Absolutely no negative criticism about any of the appetizers or entrees. The chocolate-orange cake was judged "too bitter" by two tasters, but fortunately the person who ordered it, liked it. The noise level was rated "quiet", but it should be noted that our party of nine and one other small party were the only ones in the dining room. The waiter provided excellent service. The duration of the experience was just shy of 2 hours.
Loved it was perfect for a date. The library seating was very romantic perfect setting. Hope to return soon.
The food here is sooo good! I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese to share for the table. We went for dinner for the first time the other night and LOVED our meal- filet with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Because we had such a good experience we went back a few days later for brunch. Brunch was very good as well. We did the chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy.. and of course the macaroni and everyone was very happy! Service is a little slower here but the servers are always so kind and great; it’s a good atmosphere that the slower service doesn’t bother me
This is a perfect spot for a relaxing delicious dinner. We have dined here several times but this meal was one of our best. We love coming here before the Marvelous Music Series.
The food was delicious. The dining room was beautiful too. But it was much too loud in the dining area. There were 4 tables seated, maybe 30 people were seated and it was difficult to have a conversation with the 3 people at my table. Carpet may be a good investment.
Verandah is a great find!! Have been there twice for brunch with girlfriends. Weekend and weekday. Nice sitting by the window ( made prior reservations) in a bright sunlit room, Awesome service and absolutely delicious food!! Had a great time! Wish to go again. This time for a romantic dinner. I believe Verandah will not disappoint.
Awesome vibe and service. I’ll definitely be back!!
Loved it! First time there; came highly recommended and I second that!. Wonderful food, good service, and the ambience was lovely. Just a little confusing to know where to go when you are there for the first time, and parking seemed difficult because there were no instructions or signage. I will definitely go back!
Simply fantastic, excellent service, superb food wonderful prepared
Food and wait staff were exceptional for brunch; so much so, that we’re returning this coming Sunday.
One of the best dinners we have had in quite a while. Food and service were both outstanding
Wonderful experience! Great service. Great food.
Our reservation was at 5pm and we sat outside. We were celebrating our daughter's 3rd birthday before heading back to Colorado. If you are a person who doesn't like the humidity or feeling hot. Sit inside. It wasn't too busy around this time which was perfect with a three year old. The food was absolutely delicious! My husband tried the ribeye, I had the Catch of the Day which was trigger fish, with our daughter having a peanut butter jelly sandwich. Everything was equally Delectable. They even did a Complimentary cheese cake for our daughter. When we return to North Carolina we will be coming back.
Food was excellent. Service was prompt but impersonal and apathetic (host, manager, and server). Aesthetic of the restaurant was very chic and cozy.
We always enjoy our Brunches at THE verandah. Always look forward to our visits. Food and service from Tracy is out standing! Thank You, Bob & Linda
As always, food was good, but service POOR and beyond slow. Everyone is nice and will get you what you need...if you hunt them down. Basic service needs such as small plates with bread/apps have to be asked for. Had to beg to order and the bill took 30min. A brunch lasted 3 hrs!
Food is good (charcuterie plate is not though), drinks yummy, gorgeous setting.
But, I’ve been here for cocktails in bar, hosted a baby shower in private room, dinner with husband, girls lunch—and all same problem—SERVICE TERRIBLE. Get it together Maynton Inn and train your servers because you are a gem to Cary but should be embarrassed about quality of waitstaff.
Good food and great service. The room was a little loud for my taste. Would have been better for brunch instead of dinner maybe. Outside seating looked inviting.
We went for a birthday and the food was fabulous! The shrimp and grits were among some of the best I’ve had. Would certainly go back again!
Very comfortable meal in the library for a relaxed business conversation
Great food every time I've been here. The servers are always friendly and helpful. Yummy desserts, too!
The folks were very helpful setting up a birthday surprise for my wife. Super staff.
The food was wonderful and unique. The desserts were also unique and tasty.
The wine list was good and the bar had a solid selection.
The restaurant layout is open and airy. There is also a patio area for nice sunny days.
Good food and good service but not quite in the outstanding catagory. Two of us dined on holiday. Place was real quiet. Since it is part of boutique hotel it may have been just a slow night. Service was good. Chicken dish was good but not wow. Spouse had halibut and said was delicious. I would go again to try for better experience.
Great food! Reasonable prices, great ambiance. Comfortable. Awesome outdoor area.
We went for Brunch and really enjoyed it. Our waiter was excellent and the food and drinks were very good. They have an amazing patio, but don’t use it. I’ve been there for lunch several times and it was not in use then. Why? I would come more often if they did.
Greeted by a girl in Active wear and a coffee stained wrinkled paper menu was not my plan when making reservations for a Birthday Brunch. Huge disappointment.
The Breakfast food was barely above average, service was ok, restaurant and bathrooms could use some cleaning.
I thought the Mayton Inn was upscale?
The only upside cute building and area I hope they get it together.
My husband I went to the Verandah for breakfast before Lazy Daze. This is my second visit there; last time was for lunch. I was hoping for improvement on all fronts but it was again disappointing and the food just uninspired. Eggs runny, bacon burnt, potatoes tasted like they had come from a frozen bag. My coffee was weak and not hot enough and did not have a good taste or aroma. Our server seemed distracted and uninterested although only two other tables were occupied at the time. It was a beautiful cool morning and only one table was on the “verandah”. My feeling is management is not paying attention. Its very unfortunate for downtown Cary. Again.
This is a great lunch spot! We’ve celebrated many birthdays with “the girls” here. There’s always an interesting salad, and the desserts are fabulous!
The soup of the day was Brunswick Stew and it was delicious
We go regularly but this was the first time for brunch and it was delicious. Will do it again very soon.
Nice little spot for brunch in downtown Cary. A little pricey, but for a once in a while I’d say not over the top. Great Southern Benedict.
But the real star was the banana pudding! It’s a must have.
