   Our food was cold and the service was not good. Very disappointed. We have been there many times when it was great, but we let them know beforehand when we made reservations that this was our family’s Thanksgiving meal. They weren’t busy, but our server barely checked on our table. Between that and the food being cold, it wasn’t worth the $362 ticket! My husband said we won’t be back. I guess the most recent reviews on TripAdvisor speak for themselves. On a good note, the food had a great flavor to it, but it was cold so nobody could eat it. Maybe if someone had asked us how our food was then we could have told them!

   Terrible. Steak sent back 3x for being improperly cooked and cold each time. Didn’t want it removed from bill originally, only corrected. However, after 3 failures no apologies or efforts to correct were attempted. It was clear I nor my experience wasn’t important to the staff that served me. Further, while not a big deal, I Was told on arrival that reservations must be made hours in advance, your app doesn’t disclose that- if such is the case, they shouldn’t be accepted

   I loved the atmosphere and my entree was good! However I had ordered a house salad with no bacon. They bring my salad right before my meal and they’re was bacon on it. I simply told them I was allergic and to re make it without bacon. They then bring a new salad with bacon STILL on the salad. It looks like they didn’t even take the time to make me a new one, just picked off what was on the top. Very disappointed with their professionalism and they should be more careful with people who have allergies.

    The food wasn’t bad, but our party waited an entire hour for our salads, and then another 50 minutes for our food. Unacceptable.

    Not quite the experience i remember. Service was ok . Appetizer was very good. Steak and hamburger were average and both fries and mashed potatoes were served cold .

    Waiter was confused about the special. And said they were out of the special appetizer. Next think I know we are getting the smoked dip. Which was served with chips and bread together. Not a good presentation.

    I love the Veranda. The only thing that needs attention is the bathrooms! You CANNOT get any hot water or even warm water from the faucets, and it is barely a stream of water.

    We have eaten here before and had a good experience, but tonight was not a good night. Waiter was disengaged and appeared disinterested. It took 2 hours to eat. Told us they were out of an appetizer, then served it to the table beside us an hour later. Steak undercooked. Was a birthday meal and nobody seemed to care until I spoke with the manager who did his best to make it right. He was professional and courteous and listened. Made the best of a bad dinner.

    Was home for the holidays and we usually stop by here for a dinner. The food was just so-so. Whereas it used to be great. Gorgonzola chips used to be a favorite, but it was just salty cold and they were out of Gorgonzola. Had a entree Chicken and Applewod bacon salad. Was basically a bowl full of iceberg with 2 cherry tomatoes. The bacon was cold and chewy. Chicken was decent.

    Graduation lunch for family. Service was excellent, food was very good, but selections were limited. This was likely due to the expected crowds on graduation day but it was a bit disappointing since we were expecting the full menu. Tablecloth was stained with reddish brown spots which was not very appetizing. But our server was so nice and funny we had a great time. I would recommend, but forewarn to expect some variance from normal menu and presentation during high volume days.

    It was very easy to make a reservation online to set up a work meeting/ lunch. Our table was set up on arrival. Our waiter, Luke, was great! He kept all of our drinks filled and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything else. I would highly recommend The Veranda to anyone.

    my son has been wanting to take us here for two years and it finally happened. The food was excellent , our waiter Aaron was super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. It was a perfect night to celebrate my husbands birthday, and the end of a great vacation.

    We had great service. There were some items on the menu that were discontinued. Also, it took a while for the food to get to us but I am certain it was because they were busy. It is a very nice friendly atmosphere and I am certain we will be back.

    Food was good but not great as we had hoped, for the money. Shrimp appetizer and gumbo were Excellent. Overdressed salads. Salmon was very good. Catfish was average. Filet was good. Jumbo chicken tenders were enormous and cooked perfectly. Will comment on the service in private message to restaurant.

    The Veranda needs better management and quality control for food. Took an hour to get salad, and another hour to be served our dinner, which was COLD. Very unappetizing!! Ate very little of my food. On a positive note, our waitress, Lauren B was a doll.

    Always enjoy The Veranda. We were seated immediately and water was waiting to be served. Our entrees were prepared to order and everyone enjoyed their meal. A great place and atmosphere. Just don’t be seated in the enclosed outdoor area when it storms. Water runs under the doors and you could get your feet wet. Really recommend The Veranda!!!

    My husband and I ate there this past Friday and liked the atmosphere and menu selection. However, when I received my entree of shrimp and grits, it was barely warm. My husband did not care for his dish, but he is picky. I feel if I am paying $24 for a meal, it should be at least greater than 140 degrees and not in the temp “danger zone.” Our waitress is a whole other story. She spoke super fast, and would talk to us with one foot already heading away from the table. She never came back around to check on us or I would have told her about my food not being hot. I also probably would not have said anything if she did because it seemed like we were in there forever. I spent around $90 for two of us to enjoy a nice meal, but won’t be doing it again. There are other restaurants in a Starkville that offer the same Menu items we ordered that are served hot, better service, about about 50% cheaper.

    Veranda has always been good. But Sunday night our service and food were poor. Two people each ordered a glass of wine. The two glasses arrived 25 minutes apart. It took 40 minutes to get our salads. I had the ahi tuna appetizer and the rice was so “old” it was brittle. I could crumble it in my hands. Waitress said it took longer because everyone came at the same time and wanted quick service. The Veranda should be able to handle baseball game day crowds. And, it wasn’t that crowded. I think they were under staffed in the kitchen and waiting tables.

    The fact that we were able to reserve a table at 3:00 was wonderful but unfortunately I think the kitchen staff was tired by the time we arrived. Our dinner took three hours to get to us from seating to check. Our soup and salad course was not brought out until our meal was served. It took forever to get refills on water. Our waitress was super sweet and she was very busy so we know it wasn’t her fault. The food was good but not super as in the past.

    We had reservations for a party of 8 for a company dinner. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Servers were very attentive throughout the dining process. Food was outstanding - all of us opted for one type of steak or another. We also had a few appetizers and some dessert. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening. Would definitely return.

    The Veranda was not as excellent as I remember it being many times before. We were given the dinner menu to order at 11:00 am. No brunch or lunch menu, just dinner, including dinner prices. Food was good, but not outstanding, and service was just ok. For a college town, on the busiest weekend of the spring, a special menu is a must! Other establishments are staying current, while the Veranda is falling behind. Still time to make changes for the better!
