Excellent restaurant . Food and service is consistently good !
The Veranda needs better management and quality control for food. Took an hour to get salad, and another hour to be served our dinner, which was COLD. Very unappetizing!! Ate very little of my food. On a positive note, our waitress, Lauren B was a doll.
Service was quick since we had blue plate specials. The lettuce in my gorgonzola salad was a bit scarce and low quality which is not typical in my experience here.
Always enjoy The Veranda. We were seated immediately and water was waiting to be served. Our entrees were prepared to order and everyone enjoyed their meal. A great place and atmosphere. Just don’t be seated in the enclosed outdoor area when it storms. Water runs under the doors and you could get your feet wet. Really recommend The Veranda!!!
My husband and I ate there this past Friday and liked the atmosphere and menu selection. However, when I received my entree of shrimp and grits, it was barely warm. My husband did not care for his dish, but he is picky. I feel if I am paying $24 for a meal, it should be at least greater than 140 degrees and not in the temp “danger zone.”
Our waitress is a whole other story. She spoke super fast, and would talk to us with one foot already heading away from the table. She never came back around to check on us or I would have told her about my food not being hot. I also probably would not have said anything if she did because it seemed like we were in there forever. I spent around $90 for two of us to enjoy a nice meal, but won’t be doing it again. There are other restaurants in a Starkville that offer the same
Menu items we ordered that are served hot, better service, about about 50% cheaper.
Truly an enjoyable dining experience. My mother's favorite place to dine out when I come to visit her. Customer service is true Southern.
Veranda has always been good. But Sunday night our service and food were poor. Two people each ordered a glass of wine. The two glasses arrived 25 minutes apart. It took 40 minutes to get our salads. I had the ahi tuna appetizer and the rice was so “old” it was brittle. I could crumble it in my hands. Waitress said it took longer because everyone came at the same time and wanted quick service. The Veranda should be able to handle baseball game day crowds. And, it wasn’t that crowded. I think they were under staffed in the kitchen and waiting tables.
Anniversary celebration! Great food and awesome service!
We were very pleased with our visit to The Veranda. Service was excellent and our food was served in a timely manner.
The fact that we were able to reserve a table at 3:00 was wonderful but unfortunately I think the kitchen staff was tired by the time we arrived. Our dinner took three hours to get to us from seating to check. Our soup and salad course was not brought out until our meal was served. It took forever to get refills on water. Our waitress was super sweet and she was very busy so we know it wasn’t her fault. The food was good but not super as in the past.
We had reservations for a party of 8 for a company dinner. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Servers were very attentive throughout the dining process. Food was outstanding - all of us opted for one type of steak or another. We also had a few appetizers and some dessert. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening. Would definitely return.
Love this restaurant! Food is excellent! Our waiter was fabulous! We had 2 toddlers, and he totally helped make our dining experience a great one! Thank you!!
The Veranda was not as excellent as I remember it being many times before. We were given the dinner menu to order at 11:00 am. No brunch or lunch menu, just dinner, including dinner prices. Food was good, but not outstanding, and service was just ok. For a college town, on the busiest weekend of the spring, a special menu is a must! Other establishments are staying current, while the Veranda is falling behind. Still time to make changes for the better!
As always, The Veranda provides excellent food and wonderful service. Thank you for your attention to detail!
Very busy weekend at MSU. Seemed understaffed but a lot of events happening. We were seated promptly but no one came to table for over 20 minutes. Had to request several times. When finally got service it was good.
A great place for great food and drinks. Met a friend visiting from Colorado because we knew the food would be delicious . My coffee wasn’t hot but I didn’t complain to the server. A busy night in Starkville so I had made a reservation.
Service was not as good as usual.
Our server, Leah, was OUTSTANDING! Really top-notch.
(The mashed potatoes needed to hotter. They were slightly more than lukewarm.)
Food was amazing. Server was very attentive but not overbearing! Believe her name was Lauren.
Food took far too long to come out. Sunday night and they
were not that busy. Food was not worth waiting for.
We had a very good meal with excellent service from Adam. He was very knowledable, helpful and polite.
Lunch at the Veranda was excellent! Started with fried green tomatoes appetizer with Cajun sauce - amazing! Then blue plate choice of Grilled catfish with remoulade sauce was delicious as well as the sweet potatoes and sautéed squash. Will definitely be back.
It was really, really dark in there. We were hosting some students who were here from out of state and wanted to have a chance to visit with them. It was really hard to see. It would have been better if there had been a little more light. It was so dark that I had a hard time reading the menu. I would suggest having some tables that would have more light than others because if I was coming in for a more romantic type meal with my husband that wouldn't have been so bad but I still couldn't see the menu. My only complaint. Other than that everything else was great. Thanks and yes we will come again.
I was disappointed that the menu given at the table was not the same as what was on the website. The menu needs updating.
The waiter took (bar) drink orders but the salads were brought before the drinks. felt rushed on a non-busy night. The food wasn't bad, just not as good as I expected.
Were out of several things that we ordered
Our server was great, but I ordered a filet and it was sitting in juice, was under cooked and wasn’t tender. Wasn’t worth 29.00 The potatoes had a sour taste. My date had the Kobe burger and noticed that it wasn’t up to Kobe standards. We didn’t send our food back, we just paid and got out of there.
Great place to eat. Bartender was very friendly & asked for our names. Food was very good.
Filet melted in your mouth it was so tender. Garganzola mashed potatoes were delicious!
Food is consistently good, atmosphere is always nice. One of our favorite Starkville restaurants.
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner for my birthday. Our server recommended a lovely bottle of wine...the food was delicious & just enough. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we were not interrupted by people checking to see if we had everything we needed too often. We will come back...I am looking forward to a lunch blue-plate special at The Verandah.
We had a very enjoyable evening. The only negative from me was that we had a large group of 12 and it took forever to get our food. Other than that, great night.
Our meal was excellent . Ordered a second round of the fried green tomato appetizer because the first one was so good ! The duck entree was fantastic ! Love this restaurant!
The service was initially slow, but I suspect due to a changeover of server. The menu looked good, and our meals were OK but not as 'fine dining' as we had hoped. Nice selection of cocktails on the menu and very fairly priced overall.
Great atmosphere, food was amazing, and service was fast and perfect. The waiter answered all our questions in great detail.
Crispy duck was perfect and our server was excellent.
Wonderful meal at The Veranda while in Starkville! Great service, ambience and delicious food! Definitely worth a visit!
Enjoyed the Lobster Bisque, Stuffed Fried Green Tomato appetizer and the Prosecco cocktail I had was excellent.
Wife said her crabcakes were great....I got a ribeye, ok, but not great. We eat here several times each year. Haven't ordered the ribeye recently because the one I ordered several years ago was a bit disappointing also. The potato side was delicious. We will be back, but not for the steak.
You can count on the Veranda for good food and a great experience. This has become our favorite restaurant innStarkville and especially like that they are taking reservations!
Food quality was super and delivered faster than expected
