The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge
Chic. Modern. Sophisticated. But also casual and friendly. The Venue is the cool hot spot on El Paseo, popular with locals, out-of-town visitors and food critics who serve up rave reviews. The Venue is artful, from its sleek décor to the original, ever-evolving menu, enthusiastically created by owner/chef Engin Onural. "This is my art," he shares. "Each plate is a painting, but I use fish instead of paint."

never had better sushi...a bit on the high side$$$
Great sake and sake cocktails. Awesome patio seating for a warm evening. Everything seemed slightly over priced, but for good fresh fish in the desert, it makes sense.
Yessica is phenomena! She truly creates the perfect evening with her knowledge of the menu, kind spirit, and excellent service. The food is tremendous! Thank you!
Thank you to the excellent team at Venue! We have returned many times with new friends to enjoy the Chef’s delicious and artistic creations. The staff is wonderful and feel like family now. See you soon!
Delicious and reasonable, the sushi was excelllent and the service was lovely
The sushi was outstanding and the appetizer (brussel sprouts) was delicious :) Outside would
have been great but we didn't request it. Will do the next time
Excellent service and even better food!
The hamachi was fantastic. All the food was good. The only very annoying thing was this:
We were asked do you want sparkling or still. My friend asked for sparkling and I asked for still.
Before I noticed we had two big bottles of water. I was charged $10 for a bottle of plain water.
I guess next time I need to specify tap. If I wanted to pay for it I would get sparkling.
The venue never disappoints. We received excellent service and everything was delicious!
I’m not a sushi lover but I really enjoyed the food and service. We had the coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce - excellent; popovers and stuffed zucchini flowers were surprisingly good for an unusual combination - fish was stuffed inside - but was excellent with the wasabi and ginger strips.
Green tea ice cream was bland - I don’t know how that could happen - but my husband thought it was ok; I also didn’t care for whipped cream with it
Overall very charming service and quality food
Was our first time in town and was looking for a nice quiet place for dinner. We hit it out of the park at Venue. Excellent part of town, wonderful server, great Sake and really good sushi. We had the sashimi platter and a roll with prosciutto - something I’d never had before. Wow! When we have a chance to get back to Palm Desert again, we’ll definitely be back to Venue
Our server was super, but the food was not a great as expected based on other reviews. Not bad just not great. Brussel sprouts were okay, odd serving bowl choice, tempura shrimp roll was very fishy smelling when placed on table, not the fresh sushi smell one normally expects. The tataki was big chunks, not smaller slices so a bit challenging to eat and drowning in sauce. We tried to order a couple drinks but were told they ran out of those items. Again - the server was what made it okay - she was friendly and helpful and tried her absolute best. It was oddly quiet with no music, so would recommend changing that.
Food was delishious! The bar atmosphere is a little different because you do not order or interact with the sushi chefs. So a little disconnect for the sushi bar experience.
Great choice for sushi prepared with the freshest ingredients and and artfully presented. Friendly and professional staff serving well prepared asian food in a small dining room or patio with just the right ambience.
Why ruin beautiful fish with sauce smothering every order - no matter what. And slow is an understatement!
We waited over 90 minutes for one of our dinners.
The sushi is delicious, fresh, creative and beautiful!! The service is professional, fun, sophisticated and they love to educate you about Sushi and Sake. We learned so much, had fun and impressed the friends we brought! TY Chef and team!
Everything was great and Jessica did a fantastic service job!!!
Quant restaurant, good sushi.
Overall, wonderful experience. My 9 year old always wants white rice and miso soup whenever we go to sushi restaurants and she was sadly not a fan. The white rice was not plain, there was another taste to it (I tasted it as well...) and the miso soup was visually appealing but she didn’t like the white stringy things in it (possibly daikon but for sure not bamboo shoots). If your kiddo is anything like mine, they will not enjoy this restaurant. Myself, my mom, and my teenager loved the rolls and the customer service was amazing.
I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. Food is great, service is excellent, and ambiance pleasant.
Very good sushi! Maguro was excellent and the specialty rolls were very creative and luscious! We especially enjoyed the Lollipop Roll (it was nice to see a selection that you could have without rice)! We'll definitely be back for more!
Spectacular service and food.
Service could have been worse but not sure how. Took forever to just get acknowledgement that we were there in the first place. Our server, once we ordered was OK but didn't come back to give us the check so we messed around until we finally went up to the front desk to pay which took some time too. We like Venue for sushi but if you can't get decent service we won't recommend or come here again ourselves.
We had the most fabulous personalized service and the Chef’s creations for the evening were spectacular, creative and delicious! We are making this one of our favorite places and bringing new friends each time!
This was our 2nd time to The Venue & also our 2nd time having the Omakase dinner. We highly recommend everyone let Chef do what he’s good at & experience the Omakase dinner - so delicious & so creative! We will definitely be back!
It wasn't that busy but there were only two servers they got to us as soon as they couId. Sushi was very good. Had the venue, rainbow, El Paseo and their spicy soy beans.
The food is always excellent. The fish is the freshest you’ll find. The rolls are unique. The service is excellent, but try to get there by 6, as it really gets busy, or after 8 at night.
The brussel sprouts are the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Their Venue roll has an amazing sauce with different kinds of fish. It’s fabulous.
This used to be our favorite sushi in Palm Desert. They were very creative and flexible with their food. Now it’s whatever is on the menu and not flexible. Food is all typical everyday sushi you can get anywhere. No specials. One size (small) of hot sake. No tennis channel even though half the city was populated by tennis fans for the BNP Paribas Indian Wells.
Outstanding service and very good food. Expensive for what it is.
The sushi was fantastic! The service was generally good, but large gaps when no one was around to help.
Yellow tail carpaccio was good but could have been much more thinly sliced. Sushi was good. Tuna cocktail was very disappointing, tuna was mushy.
Great ambiance and food! Got the best table in the restaurant as it was really cozy white furniture booth. We wee entertaining an out of town foodie friend of ours and he was impressed with everything too. Overall great experience. Creative sushi special items as always. We will be back :)
The sushi is massive. Not in a good way. Nigiri is supposed to be one bite, not two and the fish was cut too thickly. Also every single “special” roll had the same base and they threw some ridiculously large topping over the roll, not even in it. I was disappointed.
This is an amazing Sushi Bar with wonderful staff making it comfortable and relaxing. When there's a special occasion in the family the only place thought of is Venue. We've had every roll on the menu . It's hard to pick just one favorite but if I had to it would be the steak roll. We look forward to having many more family occasions at Venue.
Food was amazing but took forever
Food is always excellent and service superb. We are regulars at Venue Sushi and highly recommend it to friends.
This is truly our favorite restaurant in the whole Desert and by far the best sushi in the world. Brussels for an appetizer is a must a for sure the Venue roll is our fave. After that, it is a tie for all of them! Come hungry because you will want to try them all.
The food is fabulous, the service is fabulous. It’s a nice little restaurant off El Paseo. It’s just very expensive, and we never get out of there under $100, and we just have sparkling water or ice tea.
Annabelle says: Loves the unique delicious sushi rolls, especially ko ko. Salad and soup can't be beat anywhere. Service is always a little slow, probably due to the freshness of the food.
