I should start by informing the reader that I have lived in Japan and I’ve come back to visit probably 30 times and I have eaten that many excellent and some Michelin starred restaurants during my visits so take it for what it’s worth this is one picky customer.
We ordered starters of miso soup which was very watery and had little flavor.
Our other dish was octopus with edamame hummus and tare sauce, all of which was flavorless. No umami.
Next, we ordered a dragon roll which was fresh and delicious.
Last, a dish of flavorless green tea ice cream.
I thought it was expensive At $70 for one cup of soup, one appetizer, one sushi roll, one beer that we shared and one small dish of ice cream. When the waitress asked us how we liked it, I told her that the octopus dish was completely flavorless and she did not offer to replace it with anything else. I didn’t want to put the waitress in an awkward position at the restaurant and perhaps it was the policy of the restaurant not to offer a replacement, so I still gave her five stars.
Excellent service and fresh sushi. Try the stuffed avocado!
House wine was not good - other than that, everything was delicious.
We enjoyed our meal very much, would definitely recommend to Sushi lovers.
Venue Sushi Bar has always been excellent for us. The food is very creative and our service is 5 Star!
Several members of our party had the omakase who waited 3plus hours for their meal, meanwhile the rest of our guests had waited. We waited over 30
Minutes between course 2-3 while the rest of our party had their food. We were then told by the waitress the rest of the party should have gotten the omakase so it would be more fun? After half of our party left because they were finished she came back to ask if we wanted dessert. Terrible service.
Made a reservation here based on the numerous excellent reviews. My husband and I made our reservation on a Saturday night. The restaurant was quaint and clean. The ambiance very sleek and modern. We were expecting spectacular sushi. The house rolls were very large and cumbersome, they had entirely way too much rice and not enough fish. The roll menu is quite interesting and they do have alot to choose from;but for the price and location we were expecting a lot more. Probably will be trying another sushi place next time
Jessica was great. Every suggestion that she made. Ftom sake to sushi was perfect. An amazing dining experience.
Delicious sushi and great menu overall! We'll definitely be back.
Food and service are excellent, quiet place which is great if you want to really enjoy your company and conversation.
BEST SUSHI IVE EVER HAD
I WOULD DEFINITELY COME IN AGAIN.
Gyoza was nice. Rolls were well presented and spit on for flavor. Want to find a spicier more flavorful roll for next time. Quality sushi
Quaint little restaurant. Comfortable and good food selection.
We love everything about Venue Sushi...food, service, atmoshere, etc. Highly recommend this restaurant
Very nice and cute environment. Its just like sandfish just without the whiskey & exclusivity. & im not complaining! Thank you for the meal!
We loved this place and the roll varieties. The Venue Roll was delicious and the service was casual and friendly. It’s a future must visit on our trips to the desert!
Sushi and service were outstanding. So excited to have discovered this. Highly recommend the stuffed avocado and "the experiment" roll.
Recommended by Open Table and it was open on the 4th of July. Food was high quality and delicious.Restaurant is small. Expensive but worth it. Get the octopus, then some sashimi or sushi.
Great food and great service... Definitely going to make it a point to go back!
Waited nearly two hours to be served one plate of sashimi and two sushi rolls. Restaurant was only half-full and three groups seated around us arrived after us, ate, and left before we received our dinner. I asked our waitress if our order was lost or she forgot to enter it and all she could offer was, “I’m sorry, Chef is busy”.
A lovely little restaurant. Portions are small and a bit pricey.
Gyoza was ok and tempura good.
Salmon avocado roll mostly rice but ok.
We went i June and it was 114 degrees so not busy. Food was excellent and staff was very nice. We would definitely go again
Good service. Jessica was attentive
We started with miso soup and then shared two sushi rolls. The miso was excellent -- a large bowl with an assortment of small mushrooms, seaweed and tofu. And it was served hot. The special sushi rolls were excellent; we especially enjoyed the Venue Roll, their signature offering.
Service was attentive and friendly.
My date had the "endless bubbles" champagne which was a very drinkable, dry white at the price of about 1.5 glasses and our waiter did keep the glass full. My hot sake, was definitely hot and I enjoyed it.
never had better sushi...a bit on the high side$$$
Great sake and sake cocktails. Awesome patio seating for a warm evening. Everything seemed slightly over priced, but for good fresh fish in the desert, it makes sense.
Yessica is phenomena! She truly creates the perfect evening with her knowledge of the menu, kind spirit, and excellent service. The food is tremendous! Thank you!
Thank you to the excellent team at Venue! We have returned many times with new friends to enjoy the Chef’s delicious and artistic creations. The staff is wonderful and feel like family now. See you soon!
Delicious and reasonable, the sushi was excelllent and the service was lovely
The sushi was outstanding and the appetizer (brussel sprouts) was delicious :) Outside would
have been great but we didn't request it. Will do the next time
Excellent service and even better food!
The hamachi was fantastic. All the food was good. The only very annoying thing was this:
We were asked do you want sparkling or still. My friend asked for sparkling and I asked for still.
Before I noticed we had two big bottles of water. I was charged $10 for a bottle of plain water.
I guess next time I need to specify tap. If I wanted to pay for it I would get sparkling.
The venue never disappoints. We received excellent service and everything was delicious!
I’m not a sushi lover but I really enjoyed the food and service. We had the coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce - excellent; popovers and stuffed zucchini flowers were surprisingly good for an unusual combination - fish was stuffed inside - but was excellent with the wasabi and ginger strips.
Green tea ice cream was bland - I don’t know how that could happen - but my husband thought it was ok; I also didn’t care for whipped cream with it
Overall very charming service and quality food
Was our first time in town and was looking for a nice quiet place for dinner. We hit it out of the park at Venue. Excellent part of town, wonderful server, great Sake and really good sushi. We had the sashimi platter and a roll with prosciutto - something I’d never had before. Wow! When we have a chance to get back to Palm Desert again, we’ll definitely be back to Venue
Our server was super, but the food was not a great as expected based on other reviews. Not bad just not great. Brussel sprouts were okay, odd serving bowl choice, tempura shrimp roll was very fishy smelling when placed on table, not the fresh sushi smell one normally expects. The tataki was big chunks, not smaller slices so a bit challenging to eat and drowning in sauce. We tried to order a couple drinks but were told they ran out of those items. Again - the server was what made it okay - she was friendly and helpful and tried her absolute best. It was oddly quiet with no music, so would recommend changing that.
Food was delishious! The bar atmosphere is a little different because you do not order or interact with the sushi chefs. So a little disconnect for the sushi bar experience.
Great choice for sushi prepared with the freshest ingredients and and artfully presented. Friendly and professional staff serving well prepared asian food in a small dining room or patio with just the right ambience.
Why ruin beautiful fish with sauce smothering every order - no matter what. And slow is an understatement!
We waited over 90 minutes for one of our dinners.
