Great food and service!
Fresh, beautiful presentation of Sushi and the best we have ever have eaten from here to Laguna Beach!!!!
Excellent food & service!
The food was as good as usual but the service was a little wonky.
Although the server was friendly she seemed a little distracted. Maybe she was new. Beyond the service being off kilter we asked for our leftovers to be boxed and it was never brought to us. We left without it which amounted to about a roll and a half.
This is the first time the service has been off.
Outdoor ambiance was excellent.
Grateful they had gluten free Tamari available.
The staff was very attentive and the food they recommended did not disappoint.
Impeccable service and great and innovative cuisine. A great meal topped off with the best green tea ice cream ever!
Overall the quality is good and fresh. I would like to see a little more on the roll menu that perhaps is more cold and spicy. Their appetizers are great though.
Good food and great staff. Would have preferred a broader menu choice for kids/ sushi alternatives
The service was horrific. We waited 15-20 minutes to sit down(with reservation) and 4 open tables. We were seated and waited another 15 minutes before server came to our table. They made mistakes with our order and the sushi and seaweed salad were sub par. I don’t expect to be in business much longer.
We are seasonal visitors here and we’re looking for a new sushi place. This had good reviews, so we went there. It was very quiet. In the beginning, we were the only diners. Service was good. Food was good but served on very large plates that dwarfed the food and overwhelmed the small table. It won’t replace our normal sushi bar, but it was a good experience.
Sushi was excellent! Minimal wine list, but reasonable. Service was great. Ambiance was very chill lounge music. Was very impressed and highly recommend.
Fabulous experience. We have had the Omasake several times now and it is absolutely superb. The chef very kindly catered to my celiac allergies. The waitress was fabulous. Her service skills were outstanding. She recommended a beautiful sake which was superb.
Perfect service, excellent sushi, wouldn't change anything.
Visited this spot for the first time since recently becoming local residents and we were not disappointed! The service was superb, the atmosphere was fun but nice and low key, and the food was exceptionally good. Many menu items make for a diverse set of options even for non-sushi connoisseurs.
Well prepared sushi. Creative and authentic. Waiter was friendly and helpful, but spent way too much time socializing with most tables. Request for water glasses to be refilled and additional ginger root took forever to complete. This annoyance interfered with the delightful meal.
My husband and I were vacationing in Palm Desert and I booked this restaurant as I could use my reward points and we love sushi.
The experience was great - our server recommended some really great options that we probably wouldn't have tried on our own, and the service was great. The wine list was comprehensive and not over priced. The macaron for dessert was an unexpected surprise in a sushi restaurant and was to die for! We will definitely visit again.
Food was ok but an order of sashimi was 8 pieces ....much too much . Also I prefer when the sushi chef wears gloves as they do at nobu where I was the night before . At this This restaurant.. no gloves . Mayb that’s just my issue
Great food trumps deficiencies in service (slow, confused) and comfort (don't sit at the counter unless you enjoy a cold breeze on your neck).
That said, I'd go back in a New York minute for the inventive menu.
The sushi was fresher than fresh! You can certainly taste the difference between fresh and just OK.
Great appetizers. Venue roll outstanding. Polite and attentive service.
Wonderful innovative food. Great ambiance and service
Lots of creative and delicious rolls! LOVED the Ko Ko roll with shaved coconut and a honey sriracha sauce! The “experiment” roll was very good and the lollipop roll was a fantastic roll with no rice. The endless bubbles for $18 is a great deal as long as they keep pouring! Would definitely go again and definitely recommend!
We hadn’t had sushi in a while and our server was very patient and explained the difference between the variety of choices. We enjoyed every bite. We’re not from around here but will try to return before we leave for Home.
Quality of shasimi platter was very poor. Our waiter was trying to be as acoomodating as possible and do not fault him but this was the worst sushi and shashimi I've ever had. I've never sent food back and asked for a refund but I should have in this situation. The waiter comped two appetizers because our food took forever to come out. That should have been our first clue. I would not recommend this restaurant at all although the staff was friendly. What's the point when the food is so bad. If you're from NY or LA definitely stay away as this is probably worse than our local supermarket sushi.
They sat 5 of us at a very crowded table. Service was the worst in the valley i have seen for a very long time. We all ordered appetizers. We thought we could enjoy
them together but then each os us got them at separate times. It was like dining alone.
Then we ordered main courses. Came with no wasabi. The girl had taken one guests chop sticks. We asked for this as soon as she brought the meal. Well we sat
And she never returned. Finally i got up and went in to get it. Very frustrating when you are paying the kind of money they want for such small portion of food.
The cucumber salad was not Japanese cucumber salad but just a bunch of cucumbers in a bowl with no flavour. I think who ever was to prepare this dish took
The night off. Server kept trying to talk us into cold sake cause she liked or us ordering hot sake was too much work for her. Not sure.
This place is highly over rated. But i do know one thing when you have a server than has no idea what she is doing and has a no care attitude it makes your
Night very unenjoyable. I think she needs to go to hospitality and a server school so she knows what she is getting paid to do and how to take an order and
Put into computer properly so people get their meals together as that is why we went together to eat. She probably was not aware of that.
The place is not that big and a professional server could handle the whole place.
We had the omakase and Tate, our sushi chef was outstanding!! The meal was extraordinary and the service was exceptional. Truly a great dining experience!
Wonderful as usual ! Service is fantastic and the food matches that
They have aspirations but haven't worked out the right formula yet in terms of service and the food. Sushi a little too augmented for my taste. Nice space but eating at the sushi counter difficult = tight counter space matched with many large plates = awkward.
Great all around sushi Resturant. Service uniquely different in a positive way!
We arrived for a 5 pm reservation and immediately felt comfortable and welcome, Very cozy feeling and a nice clean looking place. The food and presentation was great. waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks to those who were there Friday evening,
I come from Vancouver which is the sushi capital of North America. The only Japanese restaurant in Vancouver better than Venue is 5x the price!!
Would go every day for the spicy tuna tostada and the brussel sprouts.
I understand why they’ve been voted best sushi every year since 2012. Be sure to make reservations and about 1/2 their seating is outdoors in the patio. We sat at the bar and had a great time.
Always excellent service and always amazing creations that satisfy to the fullest!
Good food and good service. Small with very limited seating. You will be sitting close to another party.
As always SO delicious and such a lovely experience. My favourite place in the valley!
This was our first time dining at the Venue. The reception service was excellent and the hostess greeted me by name and also acknowledged that it was my first time there. The waitstaff seemed to be a bit overwhelmed - understaffed, but service was great nonetheless. The food was good.
The amazing staff always remembers your name even when you haven’t seen them in months. I can’t say enough good things about them...and the food just so happens to be great too. For those that are new to the restaurant, try The Venue Roll and the Spicy Tuna Tostadas. Tres bien.
We have been to The Venue and the past 3 times Chef Engin has not been there. It is always a treat to have him there. Tonight the food was just missing something. Kind of disappointing. It was pricey, $102. and we felt like we didn't have much to eat. I wish they would change their music once in a while. It is so repetitious and annoying. I love music of all kinds but not this.
Creative fresh sushi in out 3 dinner visits at Venue. Try the spicy tuna tostada and sushi.
It was very nice ... I expected much more of the sushi.... the fish was very fresh so I appreciate that but personally I think Okura or Misaki is better
