About The Venetian Restaurant

The Venetian’s award-winning Italian cuisine (including what critics call some of San Diego’s best pizza), relaxed setting and casual atmosphere have earned generations of fans since Vince Giacalone first welcomed customers in 1965. Sons Joey and Frank proudly continue their family traditions, making sausage, soups and sauces from scratch and drawing a devoted, all-ages clientele. Highlights of the menu include bruschetta, seafood pastas, chicken and veal piccata, and thick- or thin-crust pizzas with either traditional or trendy toppings. Located in Point Loma, The Venetian’s friendly service and “Cheers” style vibe make it a favorite destination for date night, happy hour, dinner with friends or family celebrations. Seating includes the lively bar and patio (great for families and larger parties); comfy booths and banquettes; and a private wine cellar that can be reserved for parties of up to 16. Dinner nightly; lunch Monday-Friday; Sunday brunch; full bar.

Outstanding service on all levels, appetizer scallops amazing, clams tough, don't order. Not a fan of the minestrone, flavorless, but the Mediterranean salad another wonderful dish. All in all I love this place. You will not beat the service.

The food was alright. But was not kid friendly. The owner came out and told us our child was to loud and people left because of it. We have a 2 year old that was a little fussy. And we asked if it was ok before we sat down to eat. They said it was fine. We spent over 80$$for our meal to make us feel we don't belong. They need a sign on the door that reads kids not welcome. Adults only so you don't bother others. Thanks.

Best pizza ever. We have been eating at the Venetian since the eighties. Our parents before that. Quality food. Family owned since 1965.

This was my first time at the Venetian and I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, our server was friendly and efficient, and our booth was perfect. I definitely will return to enjoy another outstanding meal!

This place is my favorite Italian spot in San Diego. The food never disappoints nor does the service. A few favorites: bruschetta w prosciutto and THE SCALLOPS!!!! Lasagna with meat sauce & shrimp puttanesca. I love bringing new friends and family here and they all love it.

The hostess was not willing to let us sit at a more quiet table, even though I had made a reservation. The food and server were GREAT! If you like your excellent food with an energetic crowd you would like this place.

We have been eating there for years but have to say the last three times the food has become very garlicky. We are not going to go back as much....disappointing.☹️

Chicken parm. Was really good. For $22.50, it doesn't come with a salad anymore because of the increase in minimum wage. Really?

Always reliable and delicious Italian food! Veal parmigiana is terrific: tender veal, delicious sauce, large portion. Shrimp Diablo is also wonderful: huge shrimp, great marinara sauce with a nice kick. Cannelloni was a treat as well. Good Caesar salad, good house salads, too. We are never disappointed here and recommend it highly.

If you love great Italian food then you will love this restaurant! We drive 30 minutes to enjoy the delicious food. We enjoy the calamari as a starter and for our main meals we can recommend their ravioli, spaghetti with sausage, manicotti and our very favorite is the linguine with clams. We've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The service is always top notch even on the busiest night!

As always, I was not disappointed. It was nice that there were a couple of Gluten Free options for my niece and would have liked to see more options incorporated.

The scallops are the best in San Diego!

The Venetian is a great San Diego gem. This is definitely a nice venue with a welcoming atmosphere. I found this location through the open table app and was able to set my reservation easily through the app. We were on a time schedule as we were celebrating our 9 year anniversary.

Once we arrived, we were immediately greeted and seated in our booth. The restaurant was quickly filling up and reassured me that this place has great food. Although the dining space is not the largest, the layout provided enough privacy for us to enjoy a nice and romantic meal.

I had already selected our entire course through the app and the food came out promptly. Presentation was nice and the food was delicious to say the least. My fiancé enjoyed her seafood pasta which had generous servings of scallops, shrimp, clams and calamari. My veal Marsala was equally good smothered with mushrooms and a tasty sauce.

Although no desert menu was available on the app, our server provided us with a complimentary tiramisu to go since we were too full to continue dining. This too was full of rich flavor and satisfying to our taste buds. We will definitely return to this location as their food and service is top notch.

Vitello alla Marsala, Lasagna, meatsauce, Bruschetta. All good Italian standards that were well done. We were there early and there was one wait staff who was also the bartender. He was busy but efficient and effective.

One of our favorite Italian spots on the coast. Parking is good. Service is excellent. They have enough happy people, they all help each other. An then of coarse the food. Very good and reasonably priced. Make reservations if you can. It is popular.

My 8-year old daughter loves Venetian spaghetti, cheese ravioli, cannelloni, manicotti. Her favorite waitress is Gabby - the Staff "get" kids. We have been going there six she was 6 years old.
