My family loves it for breakfast! Granola, juices, bran muffins and eggs are great! This time we had horrible service but the food was still great! Will be back!

We ordered the special big rib eye. We asked for med. rare and got RARE! Barley warm. Also the asparagus wasn't even "al dente". The flavors were great and we didn't sent it back, however we let our waitperson know the problem.

I made reservations on open table for 9:30 AM as we were doing the Bee Experience at 11 am. The restaurant did not have our reservation. Someone from the restaurant called me in the afternoon as he couldn't understand that we had an am reservation not PM. He asked me 5 times, you don't need the reservation? We had breakfast at 9:30 am and it was lovely. Somewhere along the lines the opentable was originally am but then the restaurant received PM.

Creative drink list, great wine options and amazing food. The pork chop was thick and juicy (one of the best I've ever had) and the New York had amazing flavour. Amazing service and a great place to visit and stay the night

Oh my gosh! Loved everything about this resort. The place is beautiful, the staff is courteous and well groomed and the food was great. I really loved walking to the garden, petting the goats and seeing the chickens. The hand crafted cocktail with fresh ingredients was the icing!

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful evening at Valley Kitchen. While we are locals this was our first visit to The Valley Kitchen. The restaurant was very comfortable, enjoyable and noise level just right. The staff were very attentive and quiet as they would swoop in and clear dishes being careful not to disturb any ongoing conversations. The food was amazing. Very fresh, local farm to table type food. The Chef (Tim Woods) came out and introduced himself and shared great information about the food sourcing, menu and general information. Very personable and enjoyable conversation. The prices were very reasonable given the area we live. Definitely our new favorite local restaurant.

Had a great dinner when staying at Carmel Valley Lodge! My husband had the butternut squash soup and one of the BEST and biggest hamburgers he has ever had. I had an amazing pork chop. Delicious, and extremely tender. We had the most fun with our wonderful server Andrea. She was so personable, professional, and extremely knowledgeable and she had only been there for 6 weeks! Chef Greg actually came out and checked to make sure everything was to our liking. A great experience and compliments again to the Chef and Andrea!

An odd ambiance here, with partially-trained staff and relatively slow service from the kitchen to table (our 2-course meal took nearly two hours). Food was good but didn't really support the prices (dinner for two with cocktails and a bottle of wine came to roughly $300). I can't recommend it for dinner.

Breakfast is quite another scene - the service is snappy and the food is excellent and relatively reasonably priced for a high-end resort (breakfast for 2 is about $50). The double-smoked bacon and poached eggs is one of the best breakfast dishes I've ever had.

The restaurant is located in the Lodge at Carmel Valley Ranch, very open with high ceiling but the noise was only moderate. Omar took great care of us and we never felt rushed over the 3 hour meal. We enjoyed the selections on the cheese board and the Filet was one of the better steaks I have had in awhile. We ended up getting two additional sides for the table, that in the end we didn't really need with the entree's but the Brussels and whipped potato's were sooo good!

No room for dessert sadly, even though we were celebrating a Birthday, we will have to go back for that.

This was a complete disappointment. Go to Bernardus instead. During a recent stay, we tried the restaurant and bar twice. The service was completely unacceptable on both occasions. After being seated, it took 45 minutes to get served a glass of wine and take our dinner order. The dinner was 2 hours. There were no less than 5 dogs in the restaurant. We love dogs but, where’s the health department? Service in the bar - the same. If you are a guest in the hotel, it doesn’t get any better. More problems there. The kitchen is the only department that has a clue. The food was very good. Every other department needs a complete refresh with the exception of one housekeeper that tried to make up for the shortcomings of this property. Five stars to her.

The restaurant's food is good, but substantially overpriced. In the area, I would prefer the restaurant at Bernardas Spa. About a third of the cost of this place. And the restaurant has three dining rooms. It would seem reasonable to put families with small children in one or two and leave one room for adults who enjoy a quiet dining experience. As it was, the manic little nose miners were running around the tables, knocking things to the floor to the floor to the point one could hardly hear oneself think. The staff is amiable and I am sure that under other circumstances it might have been less of a problem. If, like me you prefer to be seated away from large groups and small children, give the Valley Kitchen a pass.

We took advantage of the local room rates and enjoyed an early Christmas treat. Always a great experience at CVR and The Valley Kitchen. Close to home yet feels like a get away. Our new favorite retreat!

Wonderful experience. We were greeted by name at the desk (I guess because of the reservation) I loved that personal touch. Our dinner was outstanding! The best rib eye steak I've ever had. It wasn't overly seasoned so I could enjoy the taste and it was so tender, I know they must carefully choose their beef. My husband had the halibut. It was moist and cooked perfectly. The scalloped potatoes that came with my steak were outstanding. Our vegetarian at the table enjoyed the sides and a wonder burette salad. The service was superb. Our waiter didn't hover, but popped up out of no where when our glass was empty and delivered the check subtly, which is an art in handling customers graciously. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great ambiance, service & food with some noise, close neighbors & a bill that adds up quickly... (That wouldn't stop me from going again)! 😊

We found The Valley Kitchen on Trip Advisor, and I liked the look of the restaurant's atmosphere. They were one of the few restaurants that had a last minute reservation on a Friday night, so we booked. It was in a gated lodge area, and we were told by the attendant to drive all the way up. It's literally all the way up until you see Valet. The walk to the restaurant was beautiful, and then we were greeted by 2 sweet, smiling hostesses. We got there around 5:50pm and sat in the middle of the inside seating. Our server, Julie R was amazing. She was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. My husband and I split their garden salad, which was one of the best I've ever had... so fresh, with the perfect amount of dressing. I wanted their sweetest white wine, and Julie offered to let me taste it first. The Riesling was the perfect blend, so she poured me a glass. As time passed, more people came and I noticed the tables next to me were pretty close; the restaurant became more noisy of course, but I was still able to hear my husband across the table. My husband ordered the duck, and I wish I had ordered it myself... mouth watering! Our bill total was $188 without tip... a little overpriced, but I would go back there again for a birthday dinner. ❤️

Beautiful location, however service was quite poor. We were staying at the ranch for our anniversary. We wanted to experience the restaurant on the property. We began by sitting at the bar. Yes the bar was busy but we felt ignored by the bar staff. He did not greet us until we had sat there for awhile. The martinis were good when we did receive them. After drinks we were seated for our reservation. The wine was excellent but my rib eye that I ordered medium rare arrived medium well. The server did ask if the temperature was to my liking. I showed the center cut of the meat as a grey with almost no pink. The server said that is over cooked and immediately asked if I would like the steak remade. On the second try the steak was nicely prepared and correct temperature.

We enjoyed a great evening dining at Valley Kitchen. Next to good and attentive service, the menu offers a nice variety of meals. The chef and his team use the local products (honey, herbs and cheeses) in creative dishes .

I used to LOVE eating at this restaurant. Truly LOVE it. Unfortunately, the new “makeover” is completely distracting and has lowered the quality of the experience. It used to have tablecloths and chic decor, now it’s just trendy and casual. It’s also loud. Be aware.

About the food...my table ordered the breakfast sandwich, the fig salad, and two salmon salads. While the salmon salads were good, it’s disappointing that the waiter/kitchen could not get the order correct when we BOTH asked for dressing on the side. When you have a non-busy restaurant and you can’t get the order correct, there is a problem.

Finally, the menu online shows that you can get two eggs, bacon/sausage, hashbrowns and toast. Apparently, this is no longer offered on the menu. Why? All of those ingredients were on the breakfast sandwich?

This is the main restaurant on the property for Carmel Valley Ranch. It was good food, not outstanding, and in line with pricey California restaurants of this level. Service was slow, but competently handled. We had a dinner one evening inside the restaurant and a breakfast outdoors on the heated pool patio the next morning.

The dining area is large and open which makes it perfect for families or larger parties or social occasions. It is loud and tables are situated close to each other, so I do not recommend it for special occasions or romance. Limited views of the gorgeous scenery--- the majority of the restaurant faces the pool, but views are available looking up to the hills.

While staying at Carmel Valley Ranch recently, we ate at Valley Kitchen several times. The bar is good looking, drinks great, and outdoor seating options off pool patio are superb. The taco small plate and chicken entree were delicious.The ambiance was great and everyone we encountered the the Ranch was super friendly and professional.

In the past year this restaurant has gone down hill. Not the prices though...lol...they are going in the opposite direction, up. On Sunday my scrambled eggs were cold. I requested no toast and received toast and the bacon was very fatty. My guest ordered an egg dish with hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce came on the side in a small dish. The sauce was cold. The past three times I've been to CVR and ordered a hamburger, or my guest ordered one, it came at the wrong temperature. It was ordered at medium rare 1 time is came really raw, barely cooked, and the next time it came raw. The third visit my guest ordered the hamburger medium and received a raw hamburger. At $17 for scrambled eggs and $18 for a hamburger one should at least receive the right temperature.
I also feel it is important to mention that the service is below par. Does anyone know that you serve from the left and take away from the right??? Or not to reach over the client or interrupt them? And please check to see if the salt and pepper is functioning.
If I have 3 bad experiences at a restaurant I feel it is time to write a negative post. Sorry CVR. You really got to tighten it up over there. And please don't use the excuse that you have too many weddings or corporate events. We are all paying good money to enjoy ourselves out at your beautiful restaurant.

Although the restaurant was not busy, we were initially seated outside the kitchen door. The hostess seemed put out to move us. Restaurant was more casual than we had expected. Shared 3 appetizers--the tuna poke, halibut ceviche and Caesar salad. All 3 were quite good.

We had a wonderful experience dining at the Valley Kitchen for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. We were seating at a great table right by the fireplace with great views of the entire restaurant. The food was exceptional as well as the service. We will definitely be back!

I had dinner there it was delicious overcooked my steak but still good. The truffle fries are soooooo amazing just not enough of them. I also did not like the speciality cocktails tried 3 of them terrible and expensive i thought i was in vegas. I also ate breakfast there had chiliquiles and the eggs were supposes to be over easy but again over cooked no yoke ozzed out which is how over easy should be. The chef took a real mexican classic and ruined it. Maybe because most of the customers there are white upper class people so they think they are actually getting an authentic dish but really not so much.

What a lovely place. The food was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was very calm and enjoyable. We had a gf with a gluten allergy and the staff was helpful, attentive, and accomodating. Definitely recommend this place and will hopefully eat tgere again soon. 5 stars!!!!

This spot is perfect for a relaxing evening out, excellent food, the definition of "Farm to Table," great for the entire family, and well-behaved dogs welcome. Enjoy beautiful views of the vineyards, the occasional deer or gaggle of turkeys walking by. Excellent Mochas and breakfasts and outstanding dinners. We drive up here from Southern California at least once a year and it's definitely worth the drive. Perfection! Thank you Valley Kitchen and Carmel Valley Ranch.
