The V Restaurant and Brewery Ratings and Reviews
This was the first and last experience. We had reservations for brunch on Mother's Day for 12:45pm. Upon arrival, we were seated but no one came to serve us - not even take out drink orders! My young niece and nephew (both under 8 years of age) were with us as well. We reached out to other servers and they all kept telling us that our server would be right with us. On top of all of this, people were sat after us, and were being served. This went on until about 2:00pm, and then when we decided to leave. There's no reason it should take an hour just to receive a drink order for a total of 5 people. You can get a drink at a crowded bar faster than that. We told the hostess upon leaving that we were not served and all she said was "oh I'm sorry". Ridiculous! That was the most unprofessional place ever. I will never go back there and I will not recommend it to anyone.
I've been here several times with my family. It's relatively new and, surprisingly, not very crowded even during peak times. It's a spacious restaurant with 2 bars and lots of patio seating. We've enjoyed the food and found the pricing reasonable. The service is friendly. The only gripe we've had is that the service seems a bit disorganized at times--e.g., we came on Sunday for Mother's Day with a 10 am reservation but had to wait around for about 10 minutes after opening for the staff to set up an outdoor table for us. (This may be just because the wait staff is quite young and the restaurant is new so they're not 100% up to speed yet).
The food is always consistent and pretty good. BUT, the service is horrible every visit. On every single occasion there has been a error with our bar order and/or our food order and the wait staff is VERY slow to check on you. This past visit we waited 20 minutes for a to-go box and our check and we NEVER saw a manager....
Although the V is somewhat more brewery than restaurant, we go for food because it is conveniently located for us. Service has really improved on our last 2 visits from the past when it was a bit off. Prices are a bit on the high side but the pork pops, Greek steak salad, burgers and tacos are reasonable.
We wanted something with a brunch menu and the three dollar bloody Mary's were a bonus. When we arrived at 11 it was so quiet we weren't even sure it was open.
We had a table of 7 so had reservations. But definitely didn't need it. Our server was less than enthusiastic. I'd read reviews about it being slow and it was definitely that.
The food was ok. My sons complained the fried chicken in the chicken and waffles was soggy on the underside. My breakfast burrito was good but the fruit with it was almost all melon and 4 pieces of strawberry that I didn't eat because they were brown.
My chief complaint was that refills of coffee were slow even when we asked and in a whole new cup instead of pouring in a refill. Seemed like a lot of dishes!
So nothing major but wouldn't go out of my way to return for brunch.
I've been to V a number of times for brunch. The service has always been good and the food delicious. That was the main reason I suggested it for our get together for brunch. Unfortunately this time was not the same. The service was absolutely horrible! I made a reservation for 6. Three of us showed up and told the hostess we had a reservation. She asked if we wanted the bar or a table. Why would we make a reservation to sit in the bar? Once seated it took forever for the server to come to the table. She asked for our drinks and I asked for a pomegranate mimosa. She said they didn't have those. I was immediately confused since V is the only place I've had them. I checked the website and sure enough the brunch drinks listed it. I showed it her and she replied the website hasn't been updated in a long time. When we asked if it was possible to have one any way she said she didn't think the bartender would know how. Umm what? It took forever just to get water. Once the food came (which didn't take very long) she disappeared. She was very nice but her service was terrible. Thankfully the food was just as delicious as always.
Three of us had dinner at the V and each of us really liked our dinner. The waiter was a little slow particularly since we were the only people in the dining area. The bar was quite busy but he seemed to have no duties there. I had wild mushroom risotto with shrimp which was outstanding. My mother in law really enjoyed her fries and burger. My husband had steak and fries, also delicious. The restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a hotel so there's not much ambiance but it is very convenient to Dulles Airport and the food was great. The service was OK and I'm betting if it had been busier it would have been better. I would definitely return if staying in that area again.
Our large group was very pleased with the items we ordered. The service was spot on-no complaints at all. Food was great, fresh and cooked perfectly. The bruchetta appetizer was so beautifully displayed it was a shame to eat, but glad we did. The pork pops were almost a meal in itself and falling off the bone tender. The chicken wings were gourmet large with a crispy outside. The risotto is a must have-some of the best I have ever eaten. All in all a wonderful special occasion dining experience. Oh and we loved the local craft beer selections. We will be back!
My ratings are lower than they probably should be. My food was excellent. Our server did her best. BUT she was apparently working alone so although she was good, she was also scarce. I rated the ambience low because we were frickin freezing all through the meal, food was cold immediately, and our shivering prevented us from enjoying the event.
2 servers in the house and a 5 degree boost on the thermostat and I would have rated everything higher.
My family and I went there for my brother's birthday dinner. He really enjoys a good beer and he likes their variety. The food was fantastic, the service was awful. The girl that served us made it very obvious that she was not happy to be doing so. She was really rather rude.
Despite the lackluster service we had a good time. Everyone loved the food they ordered. The appetizers were great. We were a group of 8.
I highly recommend the hummus, calamari, and the soft pretzel as appetizers. The dinner portions are large so maybe think about sharing. Great food.
We took my mom here for her birthday. The food was good but the service was terrible. We ordered drinks which took at least 30 minutes to get. In fact, we ordered appetizers a few minutes after we ordered drinks and the appetizers came well before our drinks. When we ordered a second round of drinks, they were never brought to us. We finished our dinner well before the waiters ever noticed we didn't get our drinks. They did have a party that night in their private party room, which they sat us right next to, but all of their attention went to that party and the other diners were a second thought. The food was good, but all-in-all it was quite a disappointing experience, especially when we went there for a birthday dinner.
Food was great, beer (great of course) - can't complain. Service was a bit lacking. I think it might have been attributed to our seating arrangement (felt disconnected from the wait-staff) and our plans to take the food to go. About the only time we saw the wait-staff was taking the order, receiving the food, and getting the bill.
My husband and I came later at night (9:30) for dinner. We both got the risotto. It was cooked well, but the butter overpowered the dish. All I could taste was butter. Also, I the website said that it had many local beers, but we found the beer list to be quite limited. We would have loved to have seen more local beers available on tap. We sat inside (which had a great feel to it) because it was quite humid outside, but I thought that the patio looked like a great place to sit and enjoy a meal and/or some drinks with friends, when the weather gets a bit cooler. I don't know that I would quite recommend The V over other restaurants in the area, unless a friend was looking for somewhere to go later at night. If the beer list gets bigger, and the food quality steps up a notch, then we'll be back with friends!
Beer selection did not include much local a beer and was Difficult to find a good one. We had about 8 people and the shoved us in a corner, with little light and very slow service, even for our first drinks. The waitress was not knowledgeable and the food was OK but nothing to write home about. All in all a place I will forget about.
Finding a restaurant almost empty at 6:30 on a Friday evening always makes me apprehensive. I find myself wondering why there isn't a crowd. This was my first time dining here and I was hoping for better. The place was empty and we were seated quickly. It is advertised as a brewery but there was no beer list available, one had to ask the server. Don't be misled by the brewery name, the beers are all craft beers and average $6 - 7 per glass. The food was pretty average, my bruschetta had very little mozzarella and was mostly bread and tomato. The chowder was decent but bland. Both entrees were under seasoned. The short rib was cooked well but had little flavor and the same could be said for the cod. The service was fine but the entrees were delivered very soon after the appetizer. We were never offered dessert and the check was delivered while we were still drinking our beers. All in all there is potential but it is unfulfilled. Hopefully the chef will find a bit more confidence with the seasoning and the servers will realize that rushing customers out when it is not busy is not a necessity.
Stopped by there for a late lunch before an epic storm that would have us cooped up for days. It was a perfect "last meal". The steak was cooked to perfection. The House pino grigio was tasty and the salad with the champagne dressing was delightful. Our wait staff was flawless. You are currently swapping out the wine list and one knew the food really well and the other remembered the former wine list really well. We were there for a shift change and it was handled flawlessly.
Also, we like the tweaks to the interior. It is a little lighter. Looks warm and inviting.
