The Union Kitchen (Memorial Dr) Ratings and Reviews
Our food was very good. My only complaint is that I specified that it was my friend's very significant birthday. We were greeted with a happy birthday when we walked in, but that was it. Thought maybe something special may have been done. Guess that isn't a custom at Union Kitchen. Now I know!! I would go back - just without extra expectations.
My only complaint was I had a previously made reservation and when we arrived our table option was in the bar. It worked out find because our group is pretty flexible but would have preferred a table(either inside or outside).
Our waitress was great and the food was all very good. We will come back. Thanks much
Service was friendly and not obtrusive. My friend was running late and the server was right on top of it when she arrived. I tried the apple and bourbon cooked pork tenderloin which was a seasonal meal. It was delicious and went well with the bottle of Malbec we shared.
The individuals working at the hostess stand could use more training, as they were neither welcoming nor polite. We were seated near a restroom with a horrible smell. We asked for another seat, but had to wait another 15 minutes despite having reservations. While eating, staff were moving tables & chairs around, & nearly hit my friend in the head with the leg of a chair. It was extremely unorganized and obviously not the sort of experience I'd hope to have when taking my friend out for her birthday. The lobster omelet was great, but I found myself removing sharp pieces of the shell from my food on numerous occasions.
First of all, they did not have my open table reservation, although I had the confirmation on my phone. We were seated (with my elderly in-laws) in the small "back" room, in the corner, along with a baby shower group of about 15 very loud women. My FIL ordered an item that had a biscuit. . . this was a Sunday brunch item, and the biscuit was causing a MAJOR delay. . . as in they apparently ran out. . .everyone around us had been served even though seated after us. The whole experience was just really a big mess and my in-laws were far from impressed -- their first time. Yeah. . . we won't be back.
Great job! I found Union Kitchen via OpenTable "new" hot spots. Union Kitchen did not disappoint. Really good food and great service. I live in WA and was in Houston for visit with friends. I wanted a nice dinner with a wide selection as we had 6 guests. I was taken aback by the fact that it was in a small strip mall yet once inside, the ambience was terrific. Good value. All the meals were excellent. Thanks!
A group of us went to dinner at Union Kitchen about a week ago. Overall, the experience was fine. The service was great. The drinks were really good. The restaurant had a comfy vibe. The only negative is that our food was a tad bit disappointing. I ordered the beef short ribs and they were really dry. My husband ordered the filet, medium well, and it was really overcooked as well. Yes, I realize he asked for medium well, but it was more than well done. I'll give this place a second chance because their menu had a lot of choices, and as I mentioned the service was great but I definitely will stay away anything beef-related.
