The Union Kitchen (Memorial Dr)
We have eaten at the Memorial and the Town Lake locations many times for both lunch and dinner. We have always loved the food. Our visit on Nov. 16, 2019 was dis appointing for two reasons. I had made a reservation days in advance, and for the second year in a row we were seated at the last table in the corner of the Memorial location next to the bathroom! I had even noted on my booking that it was for a birthday. This time my husband asked them to put us at another table for six.
Also, we recommended the cinnamon bread pudding to the entire table based on the bread pudding at the Towne Lake location. There is no comparison between the two. The bread pudding at Towne Lake is light, great flavor like a warm cinnamon roll, while the same desert at Memorial is heavy, packed and cold. No one even ate half of it. It was a big disappointment..... better learn from the Towne Lake location!
We will continue to eat at Union Kitchen but maybe not the Memorial one for @ny special occasions.☹️
I had a business meal and needed a relatively quiet table. They seated me in a great spot and only interrupted when needed. Great food and service. Highly recommend.
Jeffery is a good person and server.
Very nice menu that has something for everyone Huge portions... enjoyed the asparagus w/crab & shrimp. Had the rib eye & fish special. Both were tasty & we had 1/2 left over for another meal.
Waiter was friendly & did keep our water glasses filled. The kitchen was slow in getting the food out.. but the special request were correct... so that is a plus.
Great service and food. We always feel welcome at this restaurant and are treated like special guests. Sunday brunch favorite spot!
As a long time customer of The Union Kitchen we found our weekend dinner up to it's usual high standards of tasty food and customer friendly service
The waiter was good but seemed overwhelmed. Drinks took along time. My husband Andi had lobster and shrimp enchiladas, lots of cheese and spinach, but couldn’t find lobster and shrimp in them. Rest of families dinners were very good
Everything was very nice. The wait staff could’ve been a little bit more attentive. The food quality was good. Everything was tasty and well done. We will be back.
It was a very nice evening, the service was great!
Food was very good especially the Salmon . Our waiter John was terrific .
The food was fine, but the service was terrible. Our appetizer and main course were delivered about 2 minutes apart. We were going to the theater afterwards but felt we had ample time to order dessert. However, after 20 minutes the dessert still had not arrived so we had to take it to go. Then, to delay us further, the bill was incorrect.
There is no excuse for bringing burnt fried shrimp to any customer. Where was quality control in the kitchen? When I pointed out the problem to the waitress, she commented that she had wondered about that. Why did she serve it? She got the manager who apologized and offered to take it back. I declined because by that time I had eaten 3 or 4 of less burnt shrimp and had lost my appetite.
Quite honestly I was really surprised when the bill came with no offer of at least a free dessert or no offer of comping the entree. We would have declined both. We commented to the server about our surprise and the manager did take the entree off the final bill. We tried to insist on paying for it. We weren’t looking for free food, just had wanted a good meal.
While not a regular, in the past we have eaten here at least once or twice a month. I’m in no hurry to return
I love the ambiance at this Union Kitchen. The food was delicious, and the service was very good.
Food is great and many choices. Kid’s menu is excellent. Hi able was is a cold draft but we got it turned off.
With your change of menu, items were not available that you have had on the menu since you opened - Borone Fini Pino Grigio wine, and broccoline. Very disappointing! Service less than excellent - we waited at least ten minutes for our waitress to come to our table. Not your usual service.
This was our second visit to this Union Kitchen location, and overall, we had a much more positive experience the first time than this second time. For one thing, their menu has changed, and they no longer offer my favorite steak (NY Strip). We ordered an appetizer with asparagus, and at least one piece was very fibrous and inedible. The restaurant was quite noisy compared to our previous visit, and we were seated at a table that absolutely everyone who worked at the restaurant or was a customer walked very close to every second that we were there. It was a little disconcerting.
I have enjoyed UK each time, however, there was something a little bit different with the preparation and presentation of the food this time that left me in question as how much I enjoyed previous meal/visits more. The menu had a new look...but left off 'all' the sides. The waiter had to review many of choices...to long to share w/customer.
For an nice evening meal...Salmon for instance, it was served on a Terra Cotta, pottery style-southwestern style plate that took away from the food presentation. In the pasta, a nice plate--white in color was used. Maybe for a southwestern dish or Mexican..then ok.
The waiter was pleasant, but a little too joking in comments...although pleasant but just over the top... and had too remind to bring a few items ordered...that someone else returned with. I think my adult drink may have been sitting at the bar..and the ice had melted. Aspargus touch...and along w/ the other side of brussel sprouts...too few. I loved UK in past and will give it another try...looking for what I enjoy in the 'past' before this visit.
Good food, great service. Nice selection on the menu.
Excellent service and delicious food! We will definitely be back often!
I have eaten at numerous locations and this was my first time at Memorial.
Food never disappoints.
Our service started out very well but slow in the end with drink refills and tab.
Food and service was fair and inconsistent since my last visit about one month previous. Previously, food was excellent and service was very good on a Saturday night. Today, Sunday evening was a turn towards the negative. Perhaps change in staff made the difference.
Great brunch place. They have a great food selection and nice atmosphere.
Everything was good except Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad was greasy.
Chopped salad is very good
Always a pleasure eating at The Union Kitchen. Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner, always a treat.
I love the atmosphere, fast service and staff. The manager welcome us with a laugh and his dancing. It was a wonderful night with our friends. I would come back here anytime.
Great service, unfriendly hostess. I food was good and the waitress did an excellent job recommending dishes.
always good and always return. you can count on them for great fo8d and service.
Great service and meal. The avocado crab was very nice and the cod sandwich and shrimp salad were both cooked perfectly. Thank you for being such a versatile quality establishment.
Good restaurant American Food, good service and good value
We have been to this Union Kitchen before, and it was better then. While the quality of the food was about the same this time, and the attentiveness of the server was good, apparently the kitchen staff was much poorly organized and trained. They brought incorrect dishes to the table, brought entree’s mere minutes after serving appetizers and salads, etc. Not really sure what the root cause was. It was early in the evening prior to peak occupancy. We will give it another chance in October.
We hadn’t been there in a few years. Our server was wonderful and gave us some suggestions to try. We went on a Groupon so the value was awesome. Food was just as good as I remember!
our server was fantastic. don't know his name, a young man serving in the back room. he came by often, refilled glasses, smiled and had the best disposition. everyone loved their food, pork chop. stuffed pork chop. the meat loaf I ordered looked great but was so bland. it needed something more than the attractive plating and blah gravy. like peppercorn sauce. I ate 3 bites. first time in last decade there got something tasteless. my experience there is always great and thank you for giving our party of 5 a round top. I have another reservation for lunch Oct 5 to celebrate a birthday. thanks for our overall pleasant experience.
Loud din only drawback if business type of lunch
It was quiet being a Monday evening. The food was great. Everything be enjoyed their meals. The only potential negative was that they were out of a few entrees but it didn’t really impact our choices for dinner.
This is one of our go to restaurants, consistently good set and conform food. Our server was excellent
We enjoy the ambiance at Union Kitchen. The staff is amazing! We have never had a bad server and all of the employees seem to enjoy their job. Of course, the food is very good! Their mini corn breads with the flavored butter are amazing! We mostly go for brunch but have been there once for dinner. Love the place!
Heidi, capably assisted by other UK staff, was an AMAZING server. She provided our family an exquisite birthday experience we’ll always cherish!
Always great food, staff and atmosphere! HIghly recommend!
Food and service was excellent. I highly recommend the Diver Scallop's. Great evening.
