The Union Kitchen (Bellaire) Ratings and Reviews
Excellent meal on a Saturday night. Five people (all adults) and five different dishes, all delicious, from a cheeseburger to snapper with parmesan risotto, crab-stuffed shrimp on cheese grits and parmesan-crusted chicken. Nice wine list. Wonderful "Texas Lime Pie." A very nice for "upscale casual adult dining."
The two omelettes and two eggs Benedict orders were absolutely fantastic. Doughnut holes were very good but didn’t seem a little bit soggy. Really enjoying the cornbread muffins brought to the table. Did not know that they were coming so that was a big surprise. Very much enjoyed our brunch at this restaurant!
I hit noted in the reservation and then it was our sons birthday. When we were seated or during the course of the meal that was never brought up. I was kind of sad about that as that I have made special indication on the reservation that this was the case.
The Bellaire Blvd location is quite the scene on Sundays for lunch. It's become a hot spot for West U, Southside and Braes Heights residents. A great local eatery with a mostly "Southern Style" menu. Several benedicts to choose from plus chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak, carnitas, seafood tacos, hangar steak, shrimp and grits, multiple salads and a variety of sandwiches. The kicker is the mimosa selection with refills for a penny. The service is very friendly and quite competent and they seem to cover the large crowd with ease; very attentive. There are lots of families with mostly well behaved kids as well as a great cross section of millennial couples to baby boomers. Everyone seems to be having a great time.
OMG! I can't stop raving about The Union Kitchen Bellaire! It was everything you would want to experience in a restaurant. The staff especially was super great! Our Server (Claudia) and the General Manager (Tony) made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Good service is so hard to come by these days but the staff at The Union Kitchen reminded me that there are still great people out there who are willing to give great service. The food was delicious too! Hats off to everyone over there, you guys are phenomenal! Keep up the great work!!!
Excellent meal. I had the tuna and bok choy dish and my husband had the chicken and pasta dish. Our server was wonderful. (He usually works the bar where we usually like to sit, but no spots were available.)
Neighborhood gem. Great drinks, great food, great service.
Was quite disappointed with the food which was mediocre, presentation was careless. Was more disappointed with the service which seemed haphazard with three different servers , never knew if one was actually assigned to us. Was most disappointed that, although the host at the door asked if I was Susan, the server came and asked if we wanted separate checks and looked totally unaware when I said to bring me the check. This led to the awkward discussion about who pays which I wanted to avoid as this was a farewell luncheon for a friend. On my reservation, I had specifically requested that the check be brought to me. I had taken two nieces to the Memorial location in September, the food and service were great. If a meal at Union Kitchen is in my future, I would choose that location.
We were there to celebrate an anniversary with our kids. Service was excellent and attentive. Food was hot and plentiful and everything was delicious. The new churros dessert was amazing! Management made sure to check on dinners without being intrusive. Waiter was Very friendly and tonight, we experienced helpful staff. We will certainly be back.
I ordered the beef tenderloin medallions with pasta. there were 2 very small pieces of horrible meat - not tenderloin for sure - buried in tons of tasteless pasta. I could not eat it. we had two entrees, 2 glasses of wine and one mixed drink and the total was over $100. bathrooms were unavailable because staff was changing. Will never be back.
Wrong wine was brought out (pretty obvious as I ordered a Pinot Grigio and a Pinto Noir was brought) after about 20 minutes, server told us that she had dropped the pad she wrote our order on and couldn't remember what half of the table ordered. We asked for bread and three pieces of bread were brought for four people at the table, had to ask for more and it seems like an inconvenience. We were taking out friends that flooded for an evening where they didn't have to worry about anything, but we seemed to have to ask for everything. Not impressed. Won't go back - too many good restaurants with good service in Houston.
