The food and ambiance was outstanding at The Twisted Tail. I only had one small issue. My issue was with how our entrees came out of the kitchen. With a party of 8, I understand that plates cannot come out at the same time, but we waited 15 or 20 minutes from when the first plate was brought out to when the next few were brought out and so on. It was uncomfortable and food got cold while people waited to get other entrees. Overall, the food was delicious and we had a blast!
Excellent service! Tapas style. Amazing bourbon menu.
Very disappointing Easter Brunch at Twisted Tale; a place we usually love. The rather mundane buffet had limited selections, missing items from the listed menu, hot items that were served cold, and they even ran out of their signature fried chicken, ( told by the server and manager they had none left for the rest of the day and dinner service ). This reflects poor management, planning and effort to fully cover their reservations and provide a quality, consistent dining experience throughout the holiday.
My husband & I enjoyed the Easter Brunch. Plan to return for their regular menu.
Good food for sharing - all was really tasty; drinks are pricey but worth it, as you can taste loads of different bourbons, ryes and such that aren't available in a lot of places; and the music upstairs after dinner was really fun!
Loved it. Waiter was amazing as was food. Took young kids and they loved it!!!
I'm working on Easter so Dad and I decided to meet for brunch at the Twisted Tail on Saturday before. The décor is beautiful, and the place is energetic and the food was great. The brunch selections were creative and delicious. My only negative was the prolonged wait we were subjected to. Several people came after us and were served and left before we received our meal. About 15 minutes after we placed our order, the waiter cheerfully informed me that the special, that I had ordered, was no longer available. Ok, so I ordered another item. Our reservation was at 12pm, we were finally served- Dad first at 1:19, me at 1:30 and daughter- who had the same as me- at 1:40. All the time, the manager, who was going from table to table chatting up the customers, never came to us to see why we sat so long or to inquire about our experience. We weren't loud or rude, (Dad doesn't like to make waves). He actually spoke to us once...to say goodbye as we walked out. So a D for the experience and a B+ for the food. I don't know if the food was good enough to warrant a return visit, I'll have to think about that.
Mix drinks were top notch.
Service was EXCELLENT as well as the shrimp n grits.
Even down down to the popcorn to nibble on
It was good. Took forever to get a drink though. And to get service. Repeatedly.
Server was terrible. Duck was over cooked, but the popcorn is amazing and the Brussels sprouts were great
The service was horribly slow and the place wasn’t busy. Our orders were screwed up and the server didn’t seem to care- neither did the manager. I also got very ill after eating the wagyu beef carpaccio. Won’t be going back.
Great first time experience. Bar staff, wait staff excellent friendly unobtrusive but attentive, no asking twice.
Food was fresh, attractive and most of all good and tasty. I didn’t think it was going to be as good as it was. Great surprise. I’ll be back.
The menu was interesting and delicious!
Great service and meal options. You can do a small plate before a show or meal that they recommend prefectly. The drinks are to die for and our server Shawn recommended sooooooooooooo many options. Great place and there was a guitarist. The hubby and I had and amazing evening!!!
It was St Patrick day so it was a little noisy when we first got there. But it did quite down as our meal moved on.
Our server was personable, friendly, knew the menu and the whiskey selection. The food was pretty consistent and delicious. We will be going back again.
I love love love this place. They have live music upstarirs just about every night--- jazz and blues etc.. It's quieter downstairs if you want to converse over dinner. The food is amazing. The mac and cheese is my favorite and the short rib is great too. Every staff member that I have encountered here is friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. I have no complaints which is very rare for me when reveiwing restaurants. I am going back next week.
Great live band afterwards.
Great place. The service is top notch! Everyone from the waiter to every last bus-boy was prompt and courteous. The food is absolutely delicious and we can't wait to go back!
Great craft cocktails. Good beer selection awesome bourbon menu and the food and environment were just as good. First time but it was great and won't be our last!! Our server steve was literally the best.
The small plates were interesting and delicious. The live music was an added plus.
Great experience. Flexible staff were able to accommodate two groups sitting together. Food was excellent - great for sharing. A little noisy but it was a busy Sat. night. Highly recommend the crab cakes and the macaroni and cheese!
I enjoyed my dinning experience and would definitely recommend this place. The food was very good and like the idea of small plates (all though ample amount of food) to experience more options.
1) Overall the food was delicious and the music was awesome. It was a great night with friends.
2) However, the andouille sausage was only one sausage with a pan FULL of beans. It was good, but the sausage to bean ratio was disappointing.
3) We understood the kitchen to be open concept with food coming out when it is ready, but we sat at 7:05 and did not leave until 9:50. My hanger steak was placed in front of me at 8:47, and my husband did not get his mussels until more than 30 minutes later. (Our small plates all came between 7:50 and 8:20 or so.) The food was great, but this length seemed excessive.
Good food great service despite a busy night with a live band playing.
the food was good, it was very loud in there. Had a great time, service was great
The service and ambiance was excellent. G rear selection of bourbon. Food was really good too. It is pricey though so don't go on a budget.
The service was slow at times and there were only a few customers about 8 (4 one table, 3 and then me). When I sat at the bar the server it took some time before I was served. The server has to be a little more aware of when people are seated. At a bar you can't face one direction too long you can miss customers as they may walk away or not order that second drink. I was a little P.O'ed when a man who came several minutes after me was served first. Once seated at the table there were long periods of time before my server returned. It appears he was the only one working as the manager came to clean my table for the next course. Overall the food was pretty good and slightly pricey for no special reason as the items are standard..Except the daily specialty items.
Love the sharing of food....brought in more conversation and laughs with my wife of 28 yrs. We really enjoyed ourselves. The portions were perfect. We left satisfied, but not full. Our palette was overwhelmed from appetizers to entre'. The service was great and not the scripted way....genuine. We will return.
We were there before any music started. We would go again. Food was good and service was good also.
I was seated with a very large and loud party that made it really difficult to think. Also, it was so dark I couldn’t read the menu.
Yummy small plates and entrées. Waiter, Steve, amazing with his knowledge of gluten in the menu. Can't wait to go back
Get the chef’s tasting! Totally worth the bang for your buck, and you get to have a little bit of everything on the menu. The service was lovely, and the server made us feel like we were the only people there even though it was a packed house.
We just moved to Philadelphia at the beginning of February and my parents took us here for a pre-Valentine's celebratory meal. We opted not to get the Chef's Tasting because it would have been a lot of food for my fairly picky parents but we did order the KY ham, cheese plate (the "saint simons??? - I can't remember the full name - was to die for), chorizo taco, shrimp and grits, short rib, shishito peppers, and the beignets. The whole meal was wonderful, though the short rib lacked a bit of seasoning for my taste. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends and family who are visiting Philadelphia!
Amazing Thyme after Thyme drink! Delish cheese and meat board!!!!
Birthday date. Loved the food and music!
Food was good. Service could use improvement.
The Twisted Tail's bar area upstairs has a live Blues Jam, with dancing area, every Sunday evening. We went for this, and also entertained out of town acquaintances with dinner at the long back tables in this area. The music makes for a high sound level, but the food is great and includes the full menu of the restaurant, and it is a fun time. Highlights were the fried chicken, mussels, and the bourbon butterscotch pot de creme.
One of my favorite spots in the city--Twisted Tail never disappoints. Best bloody mary's and charcuterie boards, exceptional service, and live music is always a lot of fun. Highly recommend!
