Three of us went. Music was fantastic. Drinks were okay, host was wonderful!, waiter was nice. 2 of us were there to celebrate our 60th birthdays. They could have comped us a dessert for that. Guess not, paid 9.00 for beignets. 12.00 for 3 ribs, a little dry, the cheese plate was great, they could barely spare the 7.00 cornbread. My friends got the duck and fried chicken. Might go there again for the music.. very expensive.
Had an early dinner with the wife and kid (5:45 reservation). Very nice ambiance. Happy hour crowd was dying down and it was very pleasant and quiet. Perfect for catching up with the family. I'm sure the place gets lively later if that's more to your liking. Chose your time wisely and you'll have a great time. Food was really good. Every dish was liked by all of us. Service was super!
Disappointed in the pre-set Thanksgiving meal. While a couple of vegetables were delicious,
it was surprising to find baked beans served alongside Thanksgiving traditional food.
We were told that each table would receive a 'whole' pie to share. The pie turned out
very small - more like a single serving - the filling was 1/4" high max.....
I chose this restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner for a party of 4. The other 3 in my party appeared happy with the meal, but since I was the one to make the choice, I was more critical and was disappointed. The overall meal was fine and that service was good. However, prior to the meal, we sat at the bar and I had imagined we would spend the wait time ordering some appetizers. No such luck. The only choice was a selection of cheeses, and after asking the bartender twice if I could order and being ignored twice I gave up so as not to dampen the mood of the others in the party. We were hungry. It was a missed opportunity for the business not to have had a selection of appetizers. Then at dinner, the manager/owner? came out to tell us the wine we selected was sold out. Not good as there was a limited selection. Our dinner reservation was at 5pm, so not that late on Thanksgiving day. We made do with the so so wine I had been drinking at the bar. Then we learned with the pies for dessert, they were all out of ice cream..so no vanilla ice cream with the apple pie. They didn't even offer whipped cream as an option.
We had a pleasant time but see no need to go back again.
My dad flew in for the holiday and I was so worried about finding a place for Thanksgiving Dinner. The Twisted Tail provided a fantastic meal at a good price (and some great music too!), and I can’t wait for my next meal there.
Nicki (live music) was amazing. We loved the tuna, fig salad, and wings. I would not recommend the octopus— it was very tough and did not pair well with the (also dry) potatoes. Wine was average. Overall good value. We will be back to sit at the bar and listen to Nicki on Tuesday nights.
Tried about 12 different things on the menus and the only things worth eating were the muscles, hanger steak, and brussel sprouts. The mac and cheese was ok. Everything else was either under cooked, over cooked or too fatty to eat. In addition to the poor quality of food, they have live music on both levels and it is so loud you can't have a conversation with other people at your table.
Definitely won't be returning.
Great food, but it was the service that really stood out. Every person on their team was friendly and accommodating. We had our toddler and newborn with us, and they made up a custom fruit plate for my toddler even though it wasn't on the menu. We've also popped in for late night drinks another time, and again, great food and even better service.
This place has the potential to be incredible but if the manager doesn’t start ensuring his/her waitstaff are doing their job the place will continue to get reviews like this. Service was a joke. I could have served everyone in the place blindfolded and did a better job. Our waiter just didn’t care about anything. No people skills no good demeanor just walked around avoiding work. Disgrace. If I owned the place he’d be looking for a new job. Employees can create a reason to come back. This guy ensured we won’t.
I would definitely go back for drinks, but not food or brunch. I was with a group of 4, and our meals were brought out plate by plate about 5 minutes apart. All of the food was cold by the time the last plate arrived. It was very awkward. Food service 101 says to bring out the entrees for the entire party at the same time.
We walked past this restaurant twice before I looked up the reviews online. I was pleasantly surprised that the basil lemonade was so refreshing. The scallops, lamb chops and wings were very tasty. The macaroni and cheese, not so much. However, I would go back again.
We wanted to try something out of our norm of restaurants and lucked up and found this place... the service was good. She tried to keep up with our orders and refills as we sat outside and her other patrons were seated inside. She did well. I had the southern chicken which was just ok in my opinion. Some parts seems better seasoned than others... the mac and cheese with crawfish was really good as well... overall I would return
Came in for lunch and not sure about what I wanted. Everything looked good but I chose the pastrami sandwich with a pickle and a side of sweet potatoe fries. It was all delicious. Both Anna and Nicky had everything under control and running drinks and food for all the patron's, while doing other stuff to make sure that everyone has what they wanted. I will be back in soon.
We were visiting an art display on South street so selected this restaurant in Society Hill because of its proximity and availability on a Sunday. The restaurant was able to accommodate us 1 1/2 hours before our scheduled time, which was very nice. However, we were originally seated at an attractive table but next to a large noisy group. We asked for another table and were seated in another room not far from another noisy group. This bar attracts a 20+ age group at least on Sunday afternoons. The food and the selections were excellent. We shared a butter lettuce and fig salad that was wonderful. My friend's crab cake was all crab and my shrimp BLT was spicy and tasty. Unfortunately, the wait service was not attentive or accurate. They brought the wrong tea for my friend and had to be reminded about sugar for my coffee.
Another great visit! Great selection of cheeses and artisanal hams, go well with craft whiskeys and bourbons of which there is a large selection. Short ribs are perfectly cooked and if you are lucky they might have a special of house-made short rib ravioli with truffle oil that is shockingly delicious! Great gourmet "twist" on traditional American regional cuisine like fried chicken, and shrimp & grits. Most fun with a large group so you can sample multiple dishes.
