It was St Patrick day so it was a little noisy when we first got there. But it did quite down as our meal moved on.
Our server was personable, friendly, knew the menu and the whiskey selection. The food was pretty consistent and delicious. We will be going back again.
I love love love this place. They have live music upstarirs just about every night--- jazz and blues etc.. It's quieter downstairs if you want to converse over dinner. The food is amazing. The mac and cheese is my favorite and the short rib is great too. Every staff member that I have encountered here is friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. I have no complaints which is very rare for me when reveiwing restaurants. I am going back next week.
Great live band afterwards.
Great place. The service is top notch! Everyone from the waiter to every last bus-boy was prompt and courteous. The food is absolutely delicious and we can't wait to go back!
Great craft cocktails. Good beer selection awesome bourbon menu and the food and environment were just as good. First time but it was great and won't be our last!! Our server steve was literally the best.
The small plates were interesting and delicious. The live music was an added plus.
Great experience. Flexible staff were able to accommodate two groups sitting together. Food was excellent - great for sharing. A little noisy but it was a busy Sat. night. Highly recommend the crab cakes and the macaroni and cheese!
I enjoyed my dinning experience and would definitely recommend this place. The food was very good and like the idea of small plates (all though ample amount of food) to experience more options.
1) Overall the food was delicious and the music was awesome. It was a great night with friends.
2) However, the andouille sausage was only one sausage with a pan FULL of beans. It was good, but the sausage to bean ratio was disappointing.
3) We understood the kitchen to be open concept with food coming out when it is ready, but we sat at 7:05 and did not leave until 9:50. My hanger steak was placed in front of me at 8:47, and my husband did not get his mussels until more than 30 minutes later. (Our small plates all came between 7:50 and 8:20 or so.) The food was great, but this length seemed excessive.
Good food great service despite a busy night with a live band playing.
the food was good, it was very loud in there. Had a great time, service was great
The service and ambiance was excellent. G rear selection of bourbon. Food was really good too. It is pricey though so don't go on a budget.
The service was slow at times and there were only a few customers about 8 (4 one table, 3 and then me). When I sat at the bar the server it took some time before I was served. The server has to be a little more aware of when people are seated. At a bar you can't face one direction too long you can miss customers as they may walk away or not order that second drink. I was a little P.O'ed when a man who came several minutes after me was served first. Once seated at the table there were long periods of time before my server returned. It appears he was the only one working as the manager came to clean my table for the next course. Overall the food was pretty good and slightly pricey for no special reason as the items are standard..Except the daily specialty items.
Love the sharing of food....brought in more conversation and laughs with my wife of 28 yrs. We really enjoyed ourselves. The portions were perfect. We left satisfied, but not full. Our palette was overwhelmed from appetizers to entre'. The service was great and not the scripted way....genuine. We will return.
We were there before any music started. We would go again. Food was good and service was good also.
I was seated with a very large and loud party that made it really difficult to think. Also, it was so dark I couldn’t read the menu.
Yummy small plates and entrées. Waiter, Steve, amazing with his knowledge of gluten in the menu. Can't wait to go back
Get the chef’s tasting! Totally worth the bang for your buck, and you get to have a little bit of everything on the menu. The service was lovely, and the server made us feel like we were the only people there even though it was a packed house.
We just moved to Philadelphia at the beginning of February and my parents took us here for a pre-Valentine's celebratory meal. We opted not to get the Chef's Tasting because it would have been a lot of food for my fairly picky parents but we did order the KY ham, cheese plate (the "saint simons??? - I can't remember the full name - was to die for), chorizo taco, shrimp and grits, short rib, shishito peppers, and the beignets. The whole meal was wonderful, though the short rib lacked a bit of seasoning for my taste. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends and family who are visiting Philadelphia!
Amazing Thyme after Thyme drink! Delish cheese and meat board!!!!
Birthday date. Loved the food and music!
Food was good. Service could use improvement.
The Twisted Tail's bar area upstairs has a live Blues Jam, with dancing area, every Sunday evening. We went for this, and also entertained out of town acquaintances with dinner at the long back tables in this area. The music makes for a high sound level, but the food is great and includes the full menu of the restaurant, and it is a fun time. Highlights were the fried chicken, mussels, and the bourbon butterscotch pot de creme.
One of my favorite spots in the city--Twisted Tail never disappoints. Best bloody mary's and charcuterie boards, exceptional service, and live music is always a lot of fun. Highly recommend!
Everything was great except the men’s bathroom sink and he lack of prices on the menu.
Wonderful food. Just extraordinary. While we were there I told my friend this is one of the most underrated restaurant in Philadelphia. A must try. The brisket was phenomenal. So was the service. The server and staff were on point but I will mention that the drinks took a longer time to arrive than they should had. We were by the bar so it was clear that they were backed up. Still 5-stars because it was such great experience otherwise. Will be back.
Portion size was great. Food was great. Service was great. Look forward to returning.
Always love the Twisted Tail. My husband and I had our wedding reception here over a year ago and went back for a little belated anniversary dinner and everything was just as great as we remembered.
We went here for restaurant week and had a great experience! The food was amazing - 4 shareable courses for $35. Lamb tenderloin, sausage and baked beans, arugula salad, cauliflower flatbread (my fave!), fried chicken, and ricotta gnocchi! Our waiter, Steve, was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be returning to The Twisted Tail!
All 4 of us had the Restaurant Week menu, and overall the food was very good but all small plate portions. I (female) was satisfied and full after the meal but my husband and 1 friend were still hungry. The service was pretty slow. We were there for just over 2 hours on a Thursday. My husband and I have been here once before for their NY Eve party which was fun. We will definitely be back!
Came to see The Bachelor Boys Band Showcase & loved it!!
On Friday, January 20th, we and two other couples had an early dinner (5:30) at The Twisted Tale. Our server, Myrtle, was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks The ambiance was very nice albeit noisy as the evening progressed. It was Restaurant Week, affording four courses for $35. The meal options included several intriguing food choices for each course. The beverage selections were delightful as well.
Something can go awry in even the most efficient of operations. Three of our third course dinner entries were delayed in their arrival. After inquiring with Myrtle as to the delay, George, the owner, came to our table with two plates of appetizers, a sincere apology, an explanation of what went wrong, and assurances that the problem was being fixed as we spoke. George also covered the bottle of wine we had ordered.
How an organization responds to a problem is an indication of its character. Myrtle and George were empathetic, apologetic and very promptly corrected the situation. Their responses were above and beyond our expectations to ensure that this issue did not affect our overall enjoyment of the evening. Among the six of us, we chose almost every item on the menu. Each selection was enticingly presented and most delicious. We have already recommended The Twisted Tale to friends and family. Most assuredly, we will definitely be dining there again.
The Restaurant Week menu was good: nice selection and decent portion sizes. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks.
The lighting is very dim, so bring your glasses and prepare to get it your cellphone light to see the small print menu. Additionally, as the evening progressed we had the distinct smell of trash. Given the periodic vibrations coming from below and the dumpster odor I would say we were seated above the trash compactor.
We would go back, just avoid sitting in the right rear portion of the restaurant to stay clear of the scent of trash.
Great food and service!
We went for restaurant week this past weekend. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Our water was refilled as soon as it was sipped. There were several food choices and this restaurant offered 4 courses. The food was excellent! Enjoyed the evening very much.
Went here for Restaurant week and it was a fantastic choice. Great bar, delicious food and wonderful live music.
It was so good but really dark. I had a hard time reading the menu.
Great food and great drinks!!! The food was fresh and tasty! Definitely will be back.
We were seated immediately for our 5:30pm reservation. Our waiter was great at explaining some of the menu items. None of our food had to be sent back to the kitchen because it was incorrect. The food was delicious and came out in a timely fashion.
