Love the sharing of food....brought in more conversation and laughs with my wife of 28 yrs. We really enjoyed ourselves. The portions were perfect. We left satisfied, but not full. Our palette was overwhelmed from appetizers to entre'. The service was great and not the scripted way....genuine. We will return.
We were there before any music started. We would go again. Food was good and service was good also.
I was seated with a very large and loud party that made it really difficult to think. Also, it was so dark I couldn’t read the menu.
Yummy small plates and entrées. Waiter, Steve, amazing with his knowledge of gluten in the menu. Can't wait to go back
Get the chef’s tasting! Totally worth the bang for your buck, and you get to have a little bit of everything on the menu. The service was lovely, and the server made us feel like we were the only people there even though it was a packed house.
We just moved to Philadelphia at the beginning of February and my parents took us here for a pre-Valentine's celebratory meal. We opted not to get the Chef's Tasting because it would have been a lot of food for my fairly picky parents but we did order the KY ham, cheese plate (the "saint simons??? - I can't remember the full name - was to die for), chorizo taco, shrimp and grits, short rib, shishito peppers, and the beignets. The whole meal was wonderful, though the short rib lacked a bit of seasoning for my taste. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends and family who are visiting Philadelphia!
Amazing Thyme after Thyme drink! Delish cheese and meat board!!!!
Birthday date. Loved the food and music!
Food was good. Service could use improvement.
The Twisted Tail's bar area upstairs has a live Blues Jam, with dancing area, every Sunday evening. We went for this, and also entertained out of town acquaintances with dinner at the long back tables in this area. The music makes for a high sound level, but the food is great and includes the full menu of the restaurant, and it is a fun time. Highlights were the fried chicken, mussels, and the bourbon butterscotch pot de creme.
One of my favorite spots in the city--Twisted Tail never disappoints. Best bloody mary's and charcuterie boards, exceptional service, and live music is always a lot of fun. Highly recommend!
Everything was great except the men’s bathroom sink and he lack of prices on the menu.
Wonderful food. Just extraordinary. While we were there I told my friend this is one of the most underrated restaurant in Philadelphia. A must try. The brisket was phenomenal. So was the service. The server and staff were on point but I will mention that the drinks took a longer time to arrive than they should had. We were by the bar so it was clear that they were backed up. Still 5-stars because it was such great experience otherwise. Will be back.
Portion size was great. Food was great. Service was great. Look forward to returning.
Always love the Twisted Tail. My husband and I had our wedding reception here over a year ago and went back for a little belated anniversary dinner and everything was just as great as we remembered.
We went here for restaurant week and had a great experience! The food was amazing - 4 shareable courses for $35. Lamb tenderloin, sausage and baked beans, arugula salad, cauliflower flatbread (my fave!), fried chicken, and ricotta gnocchi! Our waiter, Steve, was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be returning to The Twisted Tail!
All 4 of us had the Restaurant Week menu, and overall the food was very good but all small plate portions. I (female) was satisfied and full after the meal but my husband and 1 friend were still hungry. The service was pretty slow. We were there for just over 2 hours on a Thursday. My husband and I have been here once before for their NY Eve party which was fun. We will definitely be back!
Came to see The Bachelor Boys Band Showcase & loved it!!
On Friday, January 20th, we and two other couples had an early dinner (5:30) at The Twisted Tale. Our server, Myrtle, was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks The ambiance was very nice albeit noisy as the evening progressed. It was Restaurant Week, affording four courses for $35. The meal options included several intriguing food choices for each course. The beverage selections were delightful as well.
Something can go awry in even the most efficient of operations. Three of our third course dinner entries were delayed in their arrival. After inquiring with Myrtle as to the delay, George, the owner, came to our table with two plates of appetizers, a sincere apology, an explanation of what went wrong, and assurances that the problem was being fixed as we spoke. George also covered the bottle of wine we had ordered.
How an organization responds to a problem is an indication of its character. Myrtle and George were empathetic, apologetic and very promptly corrected the situation. Their responses were above and beyond our expectations to ensure that this issue did not affect our overall enjoyment of the evening. Among the six of us, we chose almost every item on the menu. Each selection was enticingly presented and most delicious. We have already recommended The Twisted Tale to friends and family. Most assuredly, we will definitely be dining there again.
The Restaurant Week menu was good: nice selection and decent portion sizes. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks.
The lighting is very dim, so bring your glasses and prepare to get it your cellphone light to see the small print menu. Additionally, as the evening progressed we had the distinct smell of trash. Given the periodic vibrations coming from below and the dumpster odor I would say we were seated above the trash compactor.
We would go back, just avoid sitting in the right rear portion of the restaurant to stay clear of the scent of trash.
