The inventive menu highlights ingredients in their simplest form, flame-broiled over live coals for rich, authentic flavor.

Food and service was very good. Some of the portion of the small plates were very small.
So good! The mussels were amazing and the broth they were in was my favorite!
The food here is always excellent. I would recommend the crawfish Mac & cheese and the Short rib.
We enjoyed a great night out with my son and his girlfriend during restaurant week. The waiter was attentive and had a dry wit that I genuinely appreciated. The food was fabulous. I had the heirloom beets, fig salad, Blue Bay mussels and beignets. My husband had the whipped ricotta, chorizo taco, fried chicken and beignets. Our son had the Lioni burrata, crawfish mac and cheese with the grilled hanger steak and beignets. His girlfriend had the whipped ricotta, cauliflower flatbread, roasted salmon and beignets. I tasted a bit of my son's steak as well as a bite of my husband's chicken and can say that while I thoroughly enjoyed my mussels the hangar steak was tender and had a great flavor thanks to skilled grilling and a tasty chimichurri--I wanted more of it. The chicken was moist, tender and flavorful.
Covid note: We were asked for our vaccine card and the waitstaff wore their masks the entire time. Tables were not on top of each other, which we appreciated.
Used to be great.
Amazing food and service for restaurant week. I highly recommend.
We had an enjoyable meal during restaurant week. It is very relaxing and not rushed. The complimentary popcorn is a nice touch with the carafe of water. The lighting is perfect and it is decorated so nicely. The kale salad and crawfish mac and cheese were delicious. The hangar steak and mussels were flavorful. The fried chicken was a bit dry but the sweet potato was perfect! The beignets and brownie with marshmallow ice cream were excellent. It was our first time but it exceeded our expectations. The whiskey flight was a hit too!!
Anthony was our server last night. He was awesome. Very attentive and took our orders fast even with a full restaurant! He was super friendly and had a great personality! Will return because of him!
Super friendly staff and tasty (vegetarian) dishes! I recommend going a bit early because the later it gets, the busier the servers are and we were forgotten about for 30 minutes while we waited for the check. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Twisted Tail!
My experience with the Twisted Tail during Center City Restaurant Week was amazing. My server Josh was both courteous and attentive. My mother had some questions about the food (which we loved) and he answered all of them, even consulting the chefs when needed. The food was also excellent! Our favorite dishes were the whipped ricotta, the kale salad, and the ricotta beignets. We will definitely return!
Holiday family dinner from out of town
Good food, great service
I found this place online when I was planning a trip to Philly for the Christmas market.
We were not disappointed! Great vibe, friendly service and amazing food! Our server even gave us popcorn to go for the Christmas trolley ride. If we come back to Philly it will be on the list of places to get back to!
Warm ambience, live guitar music and a happy hour menu, with a bartender drink of the day. The complimentary popcorn is delicious as well as the fig salad with blue cheese. The Shishito peppers also delicious.
My only critique is that I wish there were more vegetarian options.
Amazing. Great as always!!
Service was fantastic! I forget his name, but he was informative and polite and made our meal so much better!
The piano player set the ambiance for a perfect Sunday brunch!
Waitstaff was great!
We had a really nice meal after a concert. It’s fairly convenient from home, so we’ll definitely be back.
Service was fantastic...very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. All of the food was delicious. I order tuna tartare whenever i see it on a menu and this was by far the best i have had! We shared mostly apps and and all were really good. Ribs, octopus, shrimp and grits...all outstanding. Will definitely go back!
Really good food and an incredibly accommodating staff who let us eat outside despite having shut down their outdoor service a few days earlier. Try the fried chicken and don't miss the sides of cornbread and brussels sprouts.
The twisted tail is a great place! The food was fantastic, the ambiance was great, and they have an amazing selection of food, drinks, and whiskey! I’ll definitely be going back.
The live music is amazing- we may just go back for that and drinks! The service was extremely slow and the food was just ok. Took a VERY long time for them to bring our food out
Great Thanksgiving meal ever. Loved the food, service and location. Highly recommended
Service was good. Thanksgiving meal concept of family style dining was fun - bowls of Brussel Sprouts, green green beans, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and stuffing were either very undercooked or very dried out (stufffing seemed to be microwaved). Kale salad was nicely dressed. Had to ask for serving utensils. It seems this is a Thanksgiving policy since we've experienced this issue last year as well. The menu was reasonably priced for a major holiday, however wouldn't recommend.
The food and presentation was good and the rest airy was attentive to my wife’s Celiac disease and other allergies. The only negative is that she couldn’t have any of the desserts due to her celiac. It would have been nice if they at least had ice cream.
The food was good but the piano/singer was too loud and ruined the atmosphere of Thanksgiving celebration.
Went for the thanksgiving dinner but they seat a family of 4 at the smallest table I’ve ever seen and then pack it with food , drinks , water cups , pitchers. I was seated at the corner near the back kitchen and bar so a lot of action and i had my chair kicked once or twice by waiters rushing back and forth . The turkey was almost tasteless and you couldn’t taste the ham from all the sugary glaze they pour over top of it but was like ham steak now real ham. The sides were pretty bland and could have used a lot more love . I Would have added bread and butter before food came out if I was them and the pies were so tiny. For $230 it should have been good but it wasn’t that great . Should have stayed home and cooked.
Fabulous. My husband is in a wheelchair. Everybody--and I mean everybody, including the owner--facilitated our entrance & exit. Food was yummy too.
Good food but no opportunity to manage dining to limit food waste
Dinner was delicious and plentiful! The turkey was the best I’ve ever had and I don’t say that easily.
We went for Thanksgiving, and they seemed to be off their game. Normally, their food is excellent. The steak was unseasoned and too tough. The roasted brussel sprouts were delicious as was the roasted sweet potatoes. The green beans were undercooked and the stuffing was similar to corn bread croutons.
Would recommend for normal service, not Thanksgiving. They suck at that.
Excellent service as usual. Had a nice pre-Thanksgiving dinner with my daughters and it was lovely. Short ribs are my fav.
Service was slow due to understaffing on a busy night, food was bland and unappetizing but couldn’t point any of it out because we couldn’t find our server. Tar tar shouldn’t be grey nor should it be squished, not to mention the burnt toast that went to our table. There wasn’t a sweet potato on my chicken plate however apparently that fried stick was a sweet potato….Should really focus on quality control before sending food out of the kitchen
Went there because they advertised a certain artist on their website got there somebody totally different somebody I would NOT go see
As usual a wonderful time. Staff extremely helpful and delightful to interact with. Food plentiful, fresh and very tasty. Great music at brunch with new team.
Service was excellent. Signature drinks were fabulous and the menu did not disappoint
Staff was wonderful, music was great and drinks were good selection. I’ll be back❤️
Our cocktails and dinner were delicious! Service was outstanding! Highly recommend. 👍👍
An adorable little restaurant tucked away in old city. Cute décor and unique food, had the beet salad and burrata with carrots so delicious and staff super friendly!
Great restaurant, awesome food. Even better food!!
