Loved everything about this place but its pricey.
The wait staff was very careful w one in our grp's food allergies too.
We live in the neighborhood. But we've never dined here. We were on our way to the movies and wanted a quick but good burger. We made a reservation, were seated and shown a much more extensive menu. When we asked if we could have burgers (available at the bar) even though were seated, everyone was happy to oblige. The manager came over to greet us and welcome us to the neighborhood (a bit of a mixup because we've lived here for many years), the waiter was helpful and caring, the food was served quickly, everything was hot and the burgers were delicious. We'll be back!!
Hands down, my favorite place in Philadelphia.
The steak I ordered medium rare was rare to raw. It made it so chewy I couldn't eat all of it. My fiancee said his fried chicken was not juicy or flavorful enough. I thought the apple salad was good, but they initially forgot the walnuts on the salad. The shishito peppers were really good, if a bit too salty.
Went to a Sunday Brunch. Really nice, informative waiter. Food was creative and tasty!
Went for dinner and drinks they were having a Halloween special and it was great! It was my birthday and I really enjoyed my self they had different drink specials and a photo booth it was great I’d definitely go back even if not for an event
We did the chef tasting menu for a group. The food was good but some dishes like the shrimp and grits were not that good. At $45 per person you do get a lot of food but I did expect it to be a little higher quality. Our server was amazing.
Had an excellent time with friends. Great food!!
It was nice experience however was way to loud for me
I thought this place was pretty good. My biggest complaint (which for me is a fairly big one) is they brought my husband's meal out about 10 minutes before mine, and the side dish we ordered came well after both of our meals. Also, my husband's swordfish came out literally one minute after we ordered it (hmmmmm??).
Horrible experience - the food was questionable, the first time I brought it up and mentioned something was about the wings we ordered wings and they were gummy and stretchy. When I brought it to the attention of my server, he argued with me. He continued to try to argue and justify the food for the rest of the meal and made me so uncomfortable I decided to get up and leave the table every time I saw him approaching. The rest of the food was sub par and It was a made that much worse by the treatment of our server.
went on my birthday, food was good,a nice Friday night crowd, will definitely go again
Have I been to more sophisticated poshy restaurants? Yes. But there was something really surprising about the twisted tail. Our waiter was great and knew the menu really well and all his recommendations were perfect. It was restaurant week and I stress if the three courses - they offered 4. The food was very good Loved the atmosphere. Would definitely come back. It’s a neighborhood gem. Live music as well.
The first step into the restaurant is high. Once you get inside the bar is on both sides. The service is great and the food is delicious.
Nice place for lunch. Must go back for dinner.
Went for Restaurant Week and we were not disappointed. Great new options for tasting and loved the family style sharing. Awesome bourbon and whisky drink options.
Went there for restaurant week on Saturday night! They acknowledged my request for specific seating, had friendly and helpful staff. My husband loved the live band. Game room was fun. Nice crowd. Food was great.
I took 3 friends to The Twisted Tail for Restaurant Week. I had been previously and thought it was a fun place. Everyone enjoyed it. There was an issue with the steak being over cooked. The mgr came over, apologized & took care of it immediately. The table received complimentary beignets The server also apologized. Thanks for the great service. It says a lot a mistake is acknowledged and rectified without issue.
Excellent service and attention, most of the items we ordered were very good, great drinks menu, somewhat noisy
We went for our 5 year anniversary, since we had been there on our first date as well. Needless to say it wasn't disappointing at all, amazing food, perfect portions and great ambiance!
The Twisted Tail is a unique little place. They specialize in bourbon tastings and cocktails, and their food menu was just as interesting. My partner and I came here for Restaurant Week and really enjoyed our meal. The place itself is a bit loud, and the live music right behind us did not help alleviate the noise levels, but the signer was good so it wasn't terrible. The service was great and so was the food. They start the meal with a snack to go with your drinks, most places serve a bread basket, but the Twisted Tail instead serves a paper bag with a buttery rosemary bacon flavored popcorn, a great choice. We both took cheeses for our appetizers (I had the burrata, he had the whipped ricotta) and both were yummy and plentiful for an appetizer. For our entrees we ordered the braised short rib and the fried chicken. My short rib was perfectly cooked and butter soft. My partner's fried chicken was ridiculously large and perfectly crispy.
Lastly, desserts. The restaurants specializes in bourbon, so of course it had to be incorporated in the desserts. The beignets are accompanied by a delicious bourbon caramel, highly recommended. I ordered the chocolate mousse, which was good, but would have been more appropriately called a chocolate pudding. Overall, I would recommend this place.
We had the most amazing meal at The Twisted Tail. If we could eat there every day, we would. 100% recommend.
Glad it was restaurant week. We found our food to be a bit bland some dishes were dry. Our server was great
The food was amazing! The braised short rib was to die for! The service was also amazing!
My only complaint is that we were seated near the air vents. The cold air made a few of my friends uncomfortable. It was a nice chilly evening out.
Chris the waiter guided us through another great experience at the Twisted Tail!! The whiskey of the week was a treat, the menu had something for everyone, and the team approach to service even included the owner tonight!! Thank you, hope to be back soon...
This place is amazing - the staff, food and music was incredible. 10/10
Wonderful food & atmosphere...you will not be disappointed!
Creative menu with good Southern influences that are worth experimenting with Tapas. The variety of bourbons are top notch and the Teeling Single Malt is really smooth. Incredible Blues band with great dancing vib. Worth a special night in the city!
Great food and service, just way too loud for us. The seating is around the bar, guess that is to be expected especially on a Friday evening.
Had a great experience at Twisted Tail. It started with the the friendly people at the front of the restaurant and continued with our excellent server. The food was very tasty and our party was impressed with the quality of the food. The menu is small but very effective in it's variety. The only thing that prohibited me from rewarding it five stars was the desserts. After an excellent meal, we didn't feel that the dessert top off a well put together menu. It felt more like an after thought and the taste was average at best. All and all it was a good experience and I will definitely visit the establishment again.
Overall a very good experience. Excellent service with attention to detail. Very reasonably priced a la carte menu. Would go again.
Food was great. Cool place. Great location. I think we were inconveniencing the server who seemed annoyed we were there.
Great dining experience! The food is so good. The happy hour prices were awesome for both food and drinks. We sat outside and it we perfect for us and we were with our young children. I would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant in the future with out without kids!
The Twisted Tail is hands down now my favorite restaurant in Philly. The ambiance is cozy, yet trendy. The food is amazing and the staff provided the best service I’ve had in a long time. The front of house team were friendly, informative and helpful (from setting up table decorations for a birthday celebration to ensuring we selected the right spot in the restaurant to celebrate - thank you Juliet!). Our server, Steve, was knowledgeable, amiable and on top of his game - we never longed for drinks, food or that extra napkin after you spilled your water glass. The food was out of this world - creative, imaginative and delicious - our party almost did our own tour of the menu - sampling the lamb chops, tuna tartare, beef tartare, oysters, burrata and tomatoes, Spanish octopus, charcuterie board, hanger steak, fried chicken, shrimp and grits and kids menu items! Also the beverages crafted by the bartender, Pat, were just what the doctor ordered from (juleps to a bourbon punch bowl)! We also got a chance to enjoy the dancing and phenomenal jazz on Sunday night. What a treat all around! Thank you to everyone who went the extra mile to make our first visit and soon to be many more visits so special! Salute!!
Go for the food; the 4 of us chose the chef's "tasting menu", where the entire table had to agree on one dish from each “category” and two dishes from the "larger plates” category. It's designed to be a small-plate sharing menu, and the chef's tasting menu resulted in actually too much food; we ended up taking home quite a bit of it. Everything we tasted was superb (well, the asparagus were thin and, I think, over-grilled). I think we could have ordered a la carte and tasted more variety, although a smaller amount of each. The one negative was the noise level; they were setting up downstairs for musicians, so we asked to go upstairs (we wanted to talk and all catch up with one another); the bar alone upstairs was noisier than even the music downstairs, so down again we went, but between the noise of the downstairs bar and the downstairs music, we ended up nearly shouting at one another. On the basis of the food, I would return, but if I do decided never to go back again, it would be because it's too noisy.
Great menu and great atmosphere. Live music was great without being so loud that we couldn't enjoy conversation at out table.
Menu is very creative and the meal and drinks were great. The seating areas are very noisy but it is a bourbon bar, as we were reminded by our server. Not a good place if you want a quiet dinner but very energetic. Great service.
The fried chicken is incredible; the whipped ricotta is a delightful surprise and very light.
It was my birthday and I had never been for brunch. We went specifically for the Chicken & Waffles. Originally we were told they were out. Then they had them and we were happy, only to find out they were out of syrup. Major disappointment. The cheesy grits and the crawfish Mac and cheese appetizers were great. But the main course wasn’t. I’ll give them another try, just not for brunch again.
