We had a very enjoyable evening listening to wonderful music. The services was prompt and provided with a smile the entire time ... thanks Chris!
Loved this place. We had a group of 10 grabbing a delicious dinner before a show at the TLA (right around the corner). The manager was very accommodating with our reservation. After the holidays, we were looking for a lighter bite and she very generously excused us from the large group pre-fixe rule. In the end, I think we ordered everything off the menu anyway. It was all delicious. Fun space- bar & restaurant. I would definitely recommend this to others.
Was here for NYE and understand it was a special menu for the evening (and might not be available on any given night), but my GOD, the Short Rib Ravioli was the single best tasting food I have ever had in my life! The pistachio ice cream was also perfect! GREAT ambiance...I still can't believe how much room there was around us - perfectly laid out so that you're not on top of the tables around you. Amazing wait staff too, and on a night like NYE, that speaks volumes.
New Years dinner and the menu was Terrible and the preparation was even worse. The meal was both undercooked and served Luke warm. No sides were served with any of the entrees. Had to pay extra for a bowl of French fries. Then I got to pay $75 per person!
As consolation I received a complimentary lettuce salad. Really?
I went to the Twisted Tail two years in a row for my birthday. The first year I found it on Yelp and decided to try it out since most restaurants were booked in 12/23. After my first visit I fell madly inlove with is place. Everything was great! The service, the food, and the entertainment. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Affordable prices. Close and moderately dark ambiance. Delicious food with variety. Quite an assortment of beverages. Wait staff is excellent. Live music with blues or jazz for a pleasant finishing touch.
We went to an early dinner. We found the menu to be okay. We didn't want to load up on appetizers so we decided to stay with just an entree. There is no bread but there is a small bag , very small bag, of popcorn for your table to share. When we actually got to ordering we were told that the entrees really don't come with any sides so they would need to be added. The crab cake was beyond dry and the dessert ( a chocolate selection) hardly worth a mention. The server was nice enough but this was an overpriced meal. I'd gladly have paid up if was good but it was not. Perhaps it was an off night.
Went pretty late on a Saturday so it was a little loud but that's to be expected. It's very dark in there, but again maybe that's just because it was late. The short ribs were superb. Tender and flavorful. I got cornbread on the side and thought it was average at best, and definitely not worth $7. Overall though a great experience.
This was our first dinner, on recommendation from a coworker who, like us, is a foodie, and likes cool whiskey drink and such. Perfect tapas, salads, entrees for sharing.....or not, if you aren't the sharing type.
Located in New Market area on 2nd street with a nice neighborhood vibe, just off South St.
Would definitely go back again and again. The service/wait staff were very attentive and friendly, and receptive to questions and gave us good recommendations
Great service. However, they really push family style dining which is expensive and really way too much food that was just ok.
We met friends for Sunday brunch and had a very enjoyable experience. It was a bit noisy at first, but once the large table near us cleared the noise level became much better. We all liked what we ordered except my husband who thought the ham sandwich on french toast was bland. But we all agreed that the grits with bacon bits and poached egg that we ordered to share was outstanding. The service was good - attentive but not rushed. I look forward to returning.
Chose the short rib with spaetzle because I love spaetzle but clearly chef doesn’t know what spaetzle is. Green spinach drops is not spaetzle. Drinks were tiny and weak. Very disappointed. Not a place for anyone who knows what they should be getting for the money Waiter was very good
We had a reservation for 6 pm but were not seated until 6:40. It took another 20 minutes for our food to come. The food was good but the service was so bad we won't be back.
Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with many options to choose. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting Philadelphia.
Went for Thanksgiving. They had a special menu that was a lot of food! Really good spread of classic Thanksgiving sides clearly restaurant quality. Also the drinks were fantastic- so many new things to try. Our server was great and knowledgeable. Want to come back to try a non-holiday menu.
This was a wonderful experience. The food was wonderful. The owner solved s problem for us without blinking an eye and the whole experience made our thanksgiving absolutely an evening to remember. I would highly recommend.
We came for dinner with a group of 4 around 6:30 on a Tuesday. The service was so-so from the main waitress, although the managers were quite attentive (mainly because of all the issues the kitchen seemed to have). We all ordered entrees, but each meal came out at a different time. The salad was first, followed by a fish dish 10 minutes later, shrimp and grits another 10 minutes later, and fried chicken another 15 minutes later (a full 35 minutes after the first dish arrived). The waitress did very little to tell us what was going on or make any amends, and offered no apologies or explanations. I know it is not her fault, but she didn't even acknowledge how long we had waited. The managers finally said that we could choose a free dessert (they probably should have comped the chicken dish entirely, but we took the offer anyway). We ordered the beignets and still had not received them after 25 minutes, so the kitchen staff gave us another free dessert (macarons, which we did not order nor enjoy in the least - I'm not sure they were even macarons to be honest). The food was decent, but nothing special (especially the macarons), and the service left much to be desired. Although the atmosphere was nice and the beer selection was good, the quality of the food and service would not bring us back.
The service was great and waitress most accommodating. The food was eclectic and very tasty. The crawfish and Mac and cheese a real delight. You must try it
Loved everything about this place but its pricey.
The wait staff was very careful w one in our grp's food allergies too.
We live in the neighborhood. But we've never dined here. We were on our way to the movies and wanted a quick but good burger. We made a reservation, were seated and shown a much more extensive menu. When we asked if we could have burgers (available at the bar) even though were seated, everyone was happy to oblige. The manager came over to greet us and welcome us to the neighborhood (a bit of a mixup because we've lived here for many years), the waiter was helpful and caring, the food was served quickly, everything was hot and the burgers were delicious. We'll be back!!
Hands down, my favorite place in Philadelphia.
The steak I ordered medium rare was rare to raw. It made it so chewy I couldn't eat all of it. My fiancee said his fried chicken was not juicy or flavorful enough. I thought the apple salad was good, but they initially forgot the walnuts on the salad. The shishito peppers were really good, if a bit too salty.
Went to a Sunday Brunch. Really nice, informative waiter. Food was creative and tasty!
Went for dinner and drinks they were having a Halloween special and it was great! It was my birthday and I really enjoyed my self they had different drink specials and a photo booth it was great I’d definitely go back even if not for an event
We did the chef tasting menu for a group. The food was good but some dishes like the shrimp and grits were not that good. At $45 per person you do get a lot of food but I did expect it to be a little higher quality. Our server was amazing.
Had an excellent time with friends. Great food!!
It was nice experience however was way to loud for me
I thought this place was pretty good. My biggest complaint (which for me is a fairly big one) is they brought my husband's meal out about 10 minutes before mine, and the side dish we ordered came well after both of our meals. Also, my husband's swordfish came out literally one minute after we ordered it (hmmmmm??).
Horrible experience - the food was questionable, the first time I brought it up and mentioned something was about the wings we ordered wings and they were gummy and stretchy. When I brought it to the attention of my server, he argued with me. He continued to try to argue and justify the food for the rest of the meal and made me so uncomfortable I decided to get up and leave the table every time I saw him approaching. The rest of the food was sub par and It was a made that much worse by the treatment of our server.
went on my birthday, food was good,a nice Friday night crowd, will definitely go again
Have I been to more sophisticated poshy restaurants? Yes. But there was something really surprising about the twisted tail. Our waiter was great and knew the menu really well and all his recommendations were perfect. It was restaurant week and I stress if the three courses - they offered 4. The food was very good Loved the atmosphere. Would definitely come back. It’s a neighborhood gem. Live music as well.
The first step into the restaurant is high. Once you get inside the bar is on both sides. The service is great and the food is delicious.
Nice place for lunch. Must go back for dinner.
Went for Restaurant Week and we were not disappointed. Great new options for tasting and loved the family style sharing. Awesome bourbon and whisky drink options.
Went there for restaurant week on Saturday night! They acknowledged my request for specific seating, had friendly and helpful staff. My husband loved the live band. Game room was fun. Nice crowd. Food was great.
I took 3 friends to The Twisted Tail for Restaurant Week. I had been previously and thought it was a fun place. Everyone enjoyed it. There was an issue with the steak being over cooked. The mgr came over, apologized & took care of it immediately. The table received complimentary beignets The server also apologized. Thanks for the great service. It says a lot a mistake is acknowledged and rectified without issue.
Excellent service and attention, most of the items we ordered were very good, great drinks menu, somewhat noisy
We went for our 5 year anniversary, since we had been there on our first date as well. Needless to say it wasn't disappointing at all, amazing food, perfect portions and great ambiance!
The Twisted Tail is a unique little place. They specialize in bourbon tastings and cocktails, and their food menu was just as interesting. My partner and I came here for Restaurant Week and really enjoyed our meal. The place itself is a bit loud, and the live music right behind us did not help alleviate the noise levels, but the signer was good so it wasn't terrible. The service was great and so was the food. They start the meal with a snack to go with your drinks, most places serve a bread basket, but the Twisted Tail instead serves a paper bag with a buttery rosemary bacon flavored popcorn, a great choice. We both took cheeses for our appetizers (I had the burrata, he had the whipped ricotta) and both were yummy and plentiful for an appetizer. For our entrees we ordered the braised short rib and the fried chicken. My short rib was perfectly cooked and butter soft. My partner's fried chicken was ridiculously large and perfectly crispy.
Lastly, desserts. The restaurants specializes in bourbon, so of course it had to be incorporated in the desserts. The beignets are accompanied by a delicious bourbon caramel, highly recommended. I ordered the chocolate mousse, which was good, but would have been more appropriately called a chocolate pudding. Overall, I would recommend this place.
