I only submit reviews rarely - usually only for places that really stand out in some way - the Turquoise Room qualifies. On vacation with the family from Chicago, visiting the nearby meteor crater, and we needed a place to eat dinner. Winslow, AZ (famous location from the Eagles' song "Take it Easy") fit the bill. The Turquoise Room is a hidden gem in Northern Arizona - regional cuisine done very, very well with an authentic ambiance and a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be back if we find ourselves anywhere close in the future...

Made dinner reservations for our last vacation stop at La Posada at the Turquoise Room. It remains as amazing as we remembered. Split the tomato, mozzarella salad, followed by halibut with vegetables in a white wine sauce on a bed of polenta for me.. excellent and for my carnivorous husband: prime rib with baked potato (and the works including chives, cheese and bacon) toasted. My husband enjoyed his steak but actually loved that potato (a vegetable first!) The pumpernickel bread was so good seconds were needed. Unfortunately way too full to consider dessert. Chef is a genius and an artist in culinary field and a visit to Turquoise Room well worth the drive.

La Posada and The Turquoise Room have so much potential ... The history of the hotel should not be missed, yet there is no encouragement to learn about it ... The fact that Mary Colter designed it (if you don't know who she is, look her up as she is one of the most significant women in early 1900s architecture and cultural history (in the West) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Colter... the railroad, The Harvey Girls ... the beauty. It was only after dinner when my family and I spoke with Kent (historian and guitarist at the hotel) that I felt his passion for La Posada. This passion should be instilled in all who work and visit . The Turquoise Room --the dinner menu was limited and just missed ... my expectations were to be much like the southwestern delights found at restaurants such as Elote in Sedona. Perhaps the chef had a bad night. The cocktail menu was fabulous ... I recommend the ginger margarita. Will I go back ... perhaps ... Winslow is out of the way ... if I am there for an event, yes.

I ordered the special appetizer of squash blossoms along with the signature soup. The appetizer was the size of a main course. Our waitress was very accommodating when I asked not to be served the soup. The food was overall very good, and the service was outstanding.
