About The Tropicale
A chic and sophisticated décor provides the setting for our distinctive "world cuisine", a provocative mix of zesty influences that creates a delightful dining experience in Palm Springs, California. Plush high-backed semicircular banquettes surround our dining room and offer comfortable and private seating. The cuisine has a light, exotic feel with an emphasis on Pacific Rim specialties, from Chilean Sea Bass baked in Banana Leaves or Kahlua-Barbecued Pork Chops to all sorts of tasty tapas, salads, wood-fired pizzas, and desserts. The Coral Seas Lounge, a hip mid-century style bar is lined with sexy black leather bar-stools and is reminiscent of the upbeat lounges of old Palm Springs. It wraps around the dining room and leads outside to a lush, tropical, 2000 square foot dining patio where a variety of specialty cocktails and old-school favorites are mixed - an ideal place where friends gather and martinis are sipped under the starlit desert sky.

The Tropicale Ratings and Reviews
Our place to go with friends...again and again!! Specials from Tony, the fabulous chef, are our “to go to” , especially since we are there so often!! Not disappointed...the curried duck was mouth-watering!! No more to say...food, service (thanks Mallory!) and surroundings wonderful...go to have the best time...always...
I did not appreciate that the 3 of us had the feeling that the waiter could not wait for us to leave. It was unacceptable to have the staff hovering to clear the table. We realize it was a busy night for the business, however it was terribly rude. Each of us noticed it separately then our out of town guest stated, "guess they couldn't wait for us to leave". As a frequent patron and one who has recently relocated and plan to continue to frequent the service, I hope to never have this experience again.
We’ve been here dozens of times and will return again, however this visit was disappointing in two areas: first, it took forever for a server to appear at our table, despite our having flagged down at least two bus people and one other server to ask that our server come by to take our cocktail order. Second, when the main entrees arrived, the food was less than lukewarm. Since two members of the party had ordered hamburgers with onion rings, it became an issue: who wants a cold mushy onion ring?
We love Tropicale and when in PS, always have a meal in this iconic PS spot. However, my last meal was not as good! Perhaps I chose wrong, but the fried catfish and gumbo was just not up to par. Being from New Orleans, I know how to make gumbo and fry catfish! What I had, missed the mark. It was not soup like which every gumbo I have ever had is. The 2 pieces of cat fish were gigantic, sitting on top of rice which had a little bit of "gumbo" on it. Maybe have smaller pieces of cat fish, fried crisper and make a real okra/ham gumbo..... But my cosmopolitan was great and so was our waitress!
Tropicale never fails to impress us. We had a large group (nine people) for Sunday brunch on Pride weekend. Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was fast and attentive. Tropicale continues to be our go-to place, especially when we have friends visiting from out of town. Truly one of the very best restaurants in Palm Springs.
I just moved here to Palm springs/dessert and have been searching for my new home for two years and have been to your restaurant many times. I have always loved the staff and food and will highly recommend your restaurant to others and will come back for further events.
This visit we had the cat fish and ravioli from the specials menu.
Everything was cooked to perfection great service from our bartenders Chris and Mickie always great food service cocktails and a lot of fun with friends and staff.
We would high recommend Tropical, we are weekly diners and enjoy every visit and meal.
Great fun and great value. Our waiter, Robert, couldn’t have been more helpful. Excellent service, properly paced (contrary to some of the previous reviews I read before going). The Vietnamese Scallion Pancake appetizer was simply spectacular. My wife’s Branzino (one of the nightly specials) was perfect in every way. I tried the highly recommended Southern Fried Chicken - good, but not great. All in all, we were very pleased with the experience and the value, and will definitely be back, likely with friends for a special occasion. I can see why so many locals make Tropicale their go-to standard.
