The Troll Pub Under the Bridge
Not what we expected after viewing online when planning our trip. It was a little disappointing.
Food was good. Although everything didn't come out at the same time. There was a 15 min difference in 2 of the 4 of us getting their food. It's tough to be too critical, you never know if they are understaffed. Which is the case for too many places
Great place to hang out with friends; exceptional service!!!
Everything was great! Staff was friendly and food was good. Worth the trip!
I ordered a beer cheese burger. I asked for it mid-rare. I told the server I have been here before and it always comes out well no matter what. She advised me the chef was cooking and if I wanted it a some pink just order medium.
I still got a grey hockey puck. Would have sent it back if we were not with another couple.
My advise is if you want a juicy burger go somewhere else. If you want a well done dried out burger this is the place for you!
To be fair, visiting any establishment during Derby weekend is fraught with potential challenges. Unfortunately, The Troll Pub clearly was unable to staff at the levels necessary to cover the event. The servers, while trying there best, simply could not keep up. The excuses multiplied and could be heard from table to table including "the bar tender made the wrong drink" to "can I verify your order again". From drinks to dinner, the time to table was extensive. The food, however, was better than average for pub food. The Hot Brown alone is worth the trip. So, in order to be fair, one would have to visit on a weekend when there are not so many visitors downtown. When in Louisville next, I plan to do just that.
Had a great meal and excellent cocktails. The beer cheese burger is amazing!
Tremendous staff and outstanding service. Food is very good too!
Loved it! Got a reservation for 8 for lunch on Thurby. They treated us like gold. Delicious hot browns and a wonderful team! Thank you!
Troll Pub Under the Bridge is better than pro wrestling.
We loved our experience, and the food was fantastic!
Two of the four meals were served cold. Gross.
Cool place to hangout for drinks.
The food was good and our server Darius was awesome!!
A cool pub vibe with food to match. Good drink selections and a fun waitress. Worth a trip.
Loved the history of the building and that the owner saw potential in an abandoned building. The food was excellent and the service was on point. The vibe was fun and it's a great place for anyone. There was a great outdoor space I would have loved to enjoy but it was a little chilly the day we went. Definitely a place to check out when in Louisville!
We so happened to be spending our 12th wedding anniversary in Louisville and my wife suggested this restaurant as her and some co-workers had eaten here several years ago when in town. I like trying new places, especially local places, and The Troll did not disappoint. We arrived almost an hour before our reservation and was promptly told our table was ready. From the time we sat down, until the time we finished our meal we were never rushed at all. The drinks we had were amazing and the food was great. I will definitely recommend anyone planning on spending time downtown to come check The Troll Pub out.
Very fun place.
Great place to eat in Louisville Kentucky great place to have a drink as well big selection
This is a cool concept but the place is looking very tired. The stairs and entrance were very unappealing and needed a good cleaning. Inside tables were clean. Hostess and server were excellent and the burgers and fries were good.
Fantastic service! Food was delicious. Neat underground ambiance. Great drink selection!
Service was amazing! Food was great. Bathrooms were a disaster. I have never seen such dirty bathrooms at a restaurant.
The food was very dry and bland. The beer cheese for pretzel sticks looked like it had sat for a minute because it was separating— there was a film of oil and then goopy cheese. No matter how we mixed it, it kept separating. Our food was also served cold- the chicken and waffles was bland and dry. The waffles had cooked so much so that the butter spread they gave didn’t even melt. The server also seemed kind of passive aggressive and kept touching my shoulder. I think she was trying to be funny or relatable, but it fell flat. It made me uncomfortable, to say the least.
Sticky floors but the place is cute and the food and booze is good!
Cute place for quick generic bar food. Wouldn’t seek it out for a second time though.
We loved it! It was a spur of the moment decision and now it's going to be our go-to dinner spot when we visit Louisville. Neat, historical spot, fun theme and atmosphere, amazing food with a wide variety of choices, and welcoming staff that I would've gladly shared a dinner table with as friends!
Great service! Very friendly and the pub good was yummy (especially the beer cheese and pretzels). Thank my you.
The whole place looked dirty. The host was very rude because he thought we were late but based on the reservation which I had printed out, he was wrong and he did not apologize. As soon as we were seated at about 7:30 pm, they started rushing us because they wanted to shut down the kitchen and the dining room. The food was okay for pub grub and the beer selection was decent. The server was pleasant but seemed pressured.
Food was good and the staff was amazing and we had a party of 12 . This is my second time here and haven’t been disappointed yet.
My husband and I walked to Troll Pub under the Bridge from our hotel in downtown Louisville. The atmosphere is cute. We shared the Reuben Sandwich and Fries for lunch and drank Old Forester Bourbon pours. We would have preferred the meat to be cut thinner, but overall was good. Service was good.
Our waitress was awesome. Food and drinks expected for a pub. Ambiance and atmosphere was fun and quirky. We enjoyed it.
We had a great experience/dinner and a terrific server!
Food was great place is cool service sucked
Cool place. And in my 4 days in Louisville the only place...from dennys and papa John's to 5 star restaurants...that actually gave me what I ordered.
Our waiter had way to too many tables and it showed. Sat for 10 min before we got water then another 10 before waiter even acknowledged us. Then when time to pay we sat for 20 min and never saw waiter. Finally got our tickets and they of course were incorrect. Food was cold and pizza was undercooked. My wife got the Italian grinder but came out and was just lettuce turkey and ham. Then he wanted to argue that it was the correct sandwich even though it was missing other meat cheese and sauce. Will never return and wouldn’t suggest anyone going.
Awesome! Our table was already ready when we showed up a little early. Waitress was knowledgeable when asking about tap selections. Food came out fast. Overall great experience for our girls night dinner In Louisville! 10/10 recommend
Excellent stop before or after ANY Yum Center event. Salads and burgers are excellent.
First time in Louisville and saw this place and it had really good reviews so I decided to try it out. The service was pretty good , waitress was nice and friendly. The food was very disappointing. I ordered the veggie pizza and it was like a frozen pizza i would heat up in a microwave. Really bad... like terrible lol. I wouldn’t come here again but it’s definitely more of a kids place and I’m sure they’d like the troll theme.
My wife and I had lunch with our nephew at The Troll Pub Under the Bridge. We looked online for a place to get a hot brown and found this pub. Once we were there, we decided to try something from many amazing options on their menu. Wife had the Reuben. Nephew had the waffle chicken sandwich. I had the club sandwich. All three meals were wonderful. Becky was a very helpful and attentive server. The atmosphere was great. There is some interesting history with the location of this pub. I would definitely recommend The Troll Pub Under the Bridge if you’re looking for good food and great drinks for a reasonable price with exceptional service.
This place is great. We loved the decor of the place.. really does kind of feel like a “troll” sort of spot. Old and in a basement, it’s such a cool spot. Food was awesome, drink selection great.
Our server was amazing. She was attentive and friendly and funny. She was laid back and everything she recommended was so tasty!!!
