The Tower Bar
Beautiful peaceful location, our waiter John and the rest of the staff provided excellent service and the food was perfectly executed
Absolutely fabulous service and amazing food!
It was meant to be a special farewell meal for my mother and 5 of us were looking forward to celebrating. We were first taken to a table that was way too small for our party. When asking to be moved even though it was by no means full and it didn’t get busy it took a very long time to be reseated. The host staff were very friendly though. The same could not be said about the waiters sadly. My meal came out 3(!) times wrong and I ended up eating when everyone had finished a long time before. Our waiter then handed us over to another waiter who was awful! Aggressive and rude who claimed we lied when we received the bill. He didn’t even look it over just told us it wasn’t true. I have no idea why he needed to be like this as we had been very polite and friendly despite my meal being wrong. It was a huge dampener on what could have been a lovely night.
We had a lovely experience at The Tower Bar. The meal was excellent, the service impeccable and the overall ambience was a 10.
Nice dining room, great service but the food did not live up to the high prices at all so it was ultimately a disappointing meal.
The table they gave us was amazing and the service and staff was incredible as always.
Awesome service. Went out of their way to accommodate our occasion. Love this place!
Excellent ambiance and great food. The service is always great as well. The atmosphere is upscale and sophisticated.
Pricey! And the food was good but not good enough to justify the price. The vibes, however, were special!
The service was outstanding. We started with the Spicy Tuna Tartare. It was phenomenal. Ask for extra wontons. They only place a few around the dish. We loaded each wonton with as much tartare as we reasonably could and still ran out before halfway through. I ordered the scallops. They were fine. On the smaller side and not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. On the other hand, the truffle butter sauce on the mashed potatoes was phenomenal. My guest ordered the rack of lamb. I'm a huge fan of lamb, but their medium rare was a little too rare for me. Medium rare is defined as cooked so the outside is browned and the inside is still partially red. I like a good seared crust on the outside and an inside that's partially red, but this dish did not have that type of seared crust and the inside was red all the way through. More rare than medium rare, in my opinion. I wish we were seated in the bar area to the left. It had live jazz music (not too loud) and a much more hip and cool scene. We were seated to the right behind the tea room. It has a more subdued family dining feel to it.
I can't understand why the Sunset Tower hotel and its restaurants had no--let me repeat that--no holiday decorations anywhere. Other than the random SRO in DTLA and the Hajj hotels in Mecca and Medina, this must be the only hotel in the civilized world that didn't put up holiday decorations. Times are good, guys, and you command premium prices, so there's no excuse that you need to economize. What were you thinking that you didn't at least put up a wreath or two?
Our family was looking for a restaurant that would amp up our holiday spirit and found it! The Tower Bar was all we hoped for and more. Our table was in a window where we could see the city lights. There was lovely live, holiday music. Our waiter, Thomas, was attentive, informative and very friendly. The food was exceptional, albeit, not inexpensive in the least- however- we had everything from the spicy tuna tartare to the Tomahawk steak and it was all so delicious we just had to share each other's dishes. The signature drinks are tasty and the wine list well-curated.
Definitely not a place for small children but perfect for date nights and adult outings. Looking forward to our next visit!
We normally LOVE the Tower Bar. Usually everything is excellent. They were definitely OFF last night. Our waiter was slow, food was bland and service took a very long time. It was disappointing since it was our family’s Christmas dinner.
As always Tower Bar provides quality service outstanding food and classic atmosphere of a Hollywood icon. Instead of exchanging gifts with friends we’ve decided to share quality time together over the holidays. Tower bar is a great way to start the holiday season together with friends and family.
The Tower Bar is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The food, service and setting are all excellent. Even if it's crowded, the noise level is never a problem. When you enter the room, you feel you are stepping back in time - perhaps to Hollywood's Golden Era. I look forward to my next dinner there.
The Tower is a great escape in the middle of Hollywood "hiding" in a tower on the Sunset Strip!!!
They accommodated my request swiftly and easily and it was a very productive meal
Very beautiful restaurant! The food was excellent and a great varied menu. On the pricey side good for special occasions. We sat in the left side of the restaurant the views were lovely and very cozy atmosphere!
Thought I’d be in the main dining as always then after 20-30mins of waiting for table they popped us in terrace area. Not what I wanted when bringing a guest from overseas.
We booked this weeks in advance. We specifically asked for the main room. This was a special occasion. We wanted a celebratory atmosphere and THAT is why we booked this room at these incredibly high prices ($38 for a burger, y’all!) - instead we were seated in a side room banquet hall feeling... were we there for a bar mitzvah? A Shriners convention? It was a room with little atmosphere no matter how hard that banjo player tried to fill the echo chamber space. We asked the hostess to check the reservation and we were told it would be an hour wait for the room we requested. It was incredibly disappointing.
The food was mediocre. I knew that going in... but we were there for ambiance and cocktails and were fine with the meh food. But the room was dreary, drafty and Siberia. All for the same price tag.
Sadly, one of our party is a regular and was very upset that she was being treated so poorly. She is not returning.
All great! I’ll pay more for a bigger steak filet !! Best quality!
I love the Tower Bar. I have for years. Last night was the exception. After our first course but before our main course arrived, the junior server knocked over a full glass of water. It saturated my pants and my entire place setting area. They resolved this by placing a napkin over the wet tablecloth. It was soaked. I placed another napkin over that so I could try to pretend every time my hand touched the table, it wasn’t met with an icy wet spot. They served my main course on top of the saturated napkins. I really tried to make do but it truly affected my ability to enjoy my meal. I asked for a new tablecloth and instead they moved my guest and I to a table next to us. Also my filet Mignon which I ordered medium rare, came very medium. They took off our dessert and a round of wine but to be honest our entire meal should have been complimentary. Will I return; yes, but I hope this experience was an exception.
The ambiance was nice but the food was quite mediocre given the price
Very courteous team making it a perfect evening, along with the lively and pleasant atmosphere. Dinner and beverage were tops too.
Very romantic place to go, very dark and very cosy. Lively bar if you're looking to meet people. The food is consistent and good, we had the cob salad with lobster / cob with steak. Both were excellent. To top it off, they serve Nolet gin! Our favorite!
Fabulous as always, thank you!
Love the tower bar for the atmosphere and old school Hollywood feel. I was very happy with the window seat we were given as requested. Drinks, food and service were all outstanding, best meal so far in LA. Scallops, salmon, truffle fries all A+. Only con was that it was extremely loud but I was there at 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was energetic which I guess added to the vibe.
I felt the service was snobby. We had ordered an entree to split and we didn't get that entree and got into a verbal argument with the waiter. Saying we never ordered it. We most certainly did and instead of saying we are sorry, his person wanted to keep saying we are in the wrong and never did. It only got worse from there.
Wonderful as always
Think London Club meets down home dining. Service is always fantastic and the crowd isn't prancing around like show ponies. We come at least 6-8 times a year for a "civilized" dinner (and the incredible truffle fries), and always go home satiated and smiling. Many thanks to Gabby for always making our experience fantastic!
We were seated in an area that was so dark we had to use our cell phones to read the menus. My branzino was grilled to the point of being dry. The fingerling potatoes were dry and my asparagus could have been a little less grilled.
All and all, for a Thanksgiving dinner, the Tower Bar could have done better.
Great food, great ambiance & great service
My reservation was at 8PM, and I was sat at 9:30 with little to no explanation from the blonde hostess who was dismissive, rude, and condescending. Meanwhile those who were celebrities or well-known wealthy people were hurried to their tables quickly. It was my friends birthday or I never would have waited so long.
Once again Gabe and company surpasses themselves with another memorable night at the finest restaurant in the city. Craig on piano always adds so much color to the room - one of the finest pianists in the Southland - and the lamb was perfect as was the chicken entree and the chicken pot pie! Fine selection of wines as always and superb service from the minute you enter. Jeffrey Klein has truly sustained something remarkable at this iconic venue that he brought back to life years ago and the changes he continues to make the venue are tasteful and truly beauty in rooms I have known since the 1980’s when it was a private club. You can go to Musso’s or La Scala or The Grill but the Tower has superior service, a staff that engages you and takes care of you - and in a room that is lively and comfortable. This is the finest place to be on any night for any occasion! I’ll be back for our traditional Christmas Eve Eve Dinner!
Waitstaff was outstanding! Pigs in the blanket so delish.
Loved the restaurant vibe and the service was good. Drinks were good. Food was mediocre for the price so even though we had a wonderful evening, I don't see us going back.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service... very good for special occasions
Great as always!✨✨ Love coming here for brunch!
