The Tides Beach Club Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I visited Tides for a recent night out without the kids. I have been to tides several times before for cocktails and it is always a lovely spot! You can't get a better view! But going for dinner was okay---we sat in the front room which was lovely but HOT! There was no air flow they only had 2 windows open and we were both so hot. The food was good but not sure it was really worth spending as much as we did. I will be back for drinks on the porch for sure!
We 5 were seated in the reception area not the dining room for lunch at the noon time opening at 12 noon. Service was slow. The first course oysters were delicious and served well. Unfortunately it all went down hill from there. One guest was not served his plate with the 4 of us, he had to wait 15 minutes. While we were not charged it was an unfortunate occurrence.
The food, my plate. Shrimp and scallops with rice was quite spicy and not very tasty.
This was my second visit to the Tides. It is an absolutely wonderful place. The food is superb the view is amazing and so comfortable and cozy. I came for a birthday dinner and was travelling alone. My server was Marjorie. Absolutely fantastic!!!!! She was so wonderful and made my dinner extra extra special. Thank you Tides and Marjorie Have a wonderful Summer!
See you next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tides Beach Club was outstanding! We especially enjoyed the seared shrimp/scallop dish on top of very yeasty lobster fried rice. Cooked perfectly and very flavorful.
Marjorie, our server was awesome, and learning about her move to the US from the Philippines was a nice anecdote to add to our evening.
The best. Gabby our wait person so friendly and one of the best ever. Food best I have had in Kennebuckport. I rated the Tides #1 followed by Ocean #2 Davids #3 and Pier 77 #4. Now these are very close but what made Tides #1 was the overall atmosphere, staff and the manager. You can tell they all really like working together and that made it so pleasant. Can not wait to go back next year.
My wife and I gave the Tides Beach Club a try based on the favorable reviews we saw online. Even though it was a very dreary Saturday night in May on the Maine Coast, we certainly enjoyed the warm atmosphere we experienced at this restaurant. With a huge bar at one end, a cozy living room type area on the other and dining tables in between made for a very lively yet cozy experience. The food is very good, original, and offered at a wide range of prices, so while it is an upscale restaurant, it can still be enjoyed at moderate prices. The service was prompt, constant, and polite. Food serve was hot and delicious. This inn also offers at terrific view of the ocean, so when making a reservation (highly recommended) ask if they will be able sit you in the enclosed porch in the front of the restaurant. You will not be disappointed eating (or drinking) at this establishment.
My mom and I came here for a mother/daughter date. The staff were so friendly and really knew a lot about the menu and were able to offer suggestions. The food was unbelievable and I cannot wait to go back (I live in Mass, so not totally easy). We especially loved the mussels in the curry broth...sooooo good!
Hostess was so unfriendly and borderline rude that it set the meal off to a poor start. Crab cakes were heavenly, great oysters. They were out of salmon, ahi was good, but portions on mains were not consistent. Cute chic beach vibe!
A neighborhood gem. Beautiful view of the ocean, great bar, restaurant and porch. The Tides says summer has arrived!!! The food is always good, but it was the best this summer. Water mellon martini is a must! Great service always fun. Scallops and shrimp, crab cakes, fish and chips and the lobster roll are favorites.
Dined here twice during our stay. Small menu with innovative techniques employed in their preparation. Seafood is fresh and presented expertly. Service is professional and not overbearing. They know how to explain the dishes. Mid level pricing . Limited seating. Would recommend to anyone seeking a nice experience in KPT.
It was our first visit to The Tides and we had a great experience. The ambiance of a lovely summer house on the coast of Maine, the sounds of the surf from the beach and the welcoming outdoor seating greeted us as we arrived. We had a lovely dining experience and our servers were excellent and the meal delicious. Hope we can visit again next season. Thank you!
We have been Tide's customers for almost 40 yrs when it opened under the previous owner. The new iteration is very glitzy, a bit expensive but always dependable for a good meal. The views are stunning and the staff very young, energetic and attractive.(As are most of the clientele)
There is often music on the porch on weekends and their front yard is a fun place for cocktails. in season, reservations are a must.
Very noisy. We vas a place next to the bar in the middle of the trafic coming out of the kitchen. People going at the bar had to get around us to get there. Very expensive for the quality of the food. They charged me 5$ extra to switch my fires for a tiny plain salad.
Even at the end of August, we were able to get a reservation for 5 PM. We were seated in the bar area at a table, but were very comfortable. The noise level was a little high -- we would have preferred a table on the porch, but our reservation was only made earlier in the day.
The only issue is parking -- we were fortunate to get a spot on the side road.
The TBC was a good overall experience - we had a very nice waitress who recommend dessert, which did not disappoint (try the Raspberry Mojito Sorbet while they have it)! I had a bucket of fries and the mussels in a smoked tomato bouillabaisse - so good! This was a much bigger portion of mussels than I was expecting - you could definitely make this a meal rather than an appetizer. My mom had the bibb wedge salad and the crab cakes, also a very good option. The setting was a little louder than expected - but it was a popular place. I would definitely recommend!
The food is mostly very tasty and creative with local ingredients with a very good seafood and fish selection. Service was very pleasant and well paced. Reservations and seating were a bit challenging, first with our table given away and then retrieved for us, but placed in the middle of bar area and in the direct path of the fast paced servers and runners to/from the entrance of the kitchen. Too noisy, so ask for a table on the enclosed porch, and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail outside facing the ocean instead!
