The Terrace Room Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is very elegant, the hotel is incredible but the ambiance was not a “young” environment. The meal courses were good and bad. We ordered two main entrees that we had to returned because pasta was not well prepared that day. After we received the new entree we noticed a difference, we preferred the tenderloin with smashed potatoes, the meat was amazing and incredible tender as it should be but the potatoes were instant and not real.
Overall we enjoy the experience but it isn’t a place I will return, besides the food there is some other factors in our decision.
My daughter and I have dined here before, and it's always enjoyable. It's convenient to the theater and other downtown attractions, which makes it a great place to eat when we are out for the evening. This time, though, I felt as if the menu was a little less impressive than it has been in the past, a little more standard "hotel restaurant" food with nothing that really stood out. Our meals were good, but I was looking for something a little less "meh." I had the prime rib, since I rarely have that when dining out, and it was very good (huge portion!). Our waiter provided us with impeccable service.
This was our first time dining in the Terrace Room. We were very pleased with our experience. The salmon, sides, and salad were all delicious. They have a great selection of wines. Our server helped us make our choices. I'm sorry I can't remember our server's name but he did a wonderful job. Dinner was served at a nice pace. The room itself is beautiful and there is plenty of room between the tables. I would highly recommend the Terrace Room and look forward to eating there again.
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at The Terrace Room and the menu was quite nice, including the autumn inspired cocktails. The food was good and we enjoyed the traditional sides and dessert being served "family style". The atmosphere was both fancy and comfortable. Our servers were pleasant and attentive, but we did wait a little longer than expected in between courses. Overall, a nice experience.
I’ve been going to the Terrace Room for many years, especially on Thanksgiving. The Palm Court is beautifully decorated for Christmas, the food is always innovative and excellent, and the staff is a delightful mix of longstanding and experienced servers from around the world.
There is nothing about it that I don’t like.
I started going with my father, then my husband. Since they’ve both passed away, I now go with my son, who drives up from D.C. just for the occasion. We wouldn’t miss it.
Wonderful experience at the Terrace Room. Beautiful, historic hotel with wonderful architecture. The Sunday Brunch menu was wonderful, with an optional buffet. My wife and daughter ordered off the menu, I went for the buffet. The food was excellent. Our server, John, was polite and attentive. Great experience. Will certainly go back.
I was taking a coworker out to lunch and she suggested The Terrace Room. I was a little surprised she wanted to go there with all the trendy places downtown, but I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, it's gorgeous but the food was equally as lovely. Our server was down-to-earth and took good care of us. I got the chicken soup and the brussel sprouts app for my entree and both were delicious. The chicken soup was pure comfort food and the brussels were addicting. My coworker got the chicken caesar salad which she enjoyed, and we shared a molten chocolate cake for dessert. It was very cocoa-y and not too sweet. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
Was not sure what to expect since I had never stopped by the hotel or the seen the restaurant before. I was a little concerned in that it was a smaller crowd for such a spacious location. The restaurant has a casual elegance about it with comfortable seating throughout. The menu offered a short but interesting list of options and the special for the evening complimented the rest of the menu and gained support from two at our table. The service was what set this place apart from other restaurants I have visited during my Pittsburgh business trips. Our server was both knowledgeable as well as entertaining with a great sense of humor that kept us bantering throughout the meal.... without taking away from a great dining experience. If there is a negative it would be the distance to the restrooms from the dining room... in no way a deal-killer...but you've got to plan ahead.
We had dinner on Sat night and brunch on Sun morn and both were wonderful. The service was awesome, the food was perfect including portion sizes that are sure to fill you up. I had prime rib that was just killer, as well as a crab & arugula omelet at brunch that was filled with fresh ingredients. Pricing is not as steep as you'd expect downtown, I'd say no more expensive than a nicer chain restaurant, so don't let that be a concern when deciding to visit. I'll come back even if I don't stay at the hotel.
This is the second time I've been there for Sunday brunch, and both times were great. The Terrace Room itself is beautiful. The prix fixe menu offers a nice selection. It comes with appetizer, entrée, dessert and cocktail. So well worth the price. And the service is wonderful.
Salmon was fabulous, as were the warm olives, the tomato bisque and the toasted almond dessert drink.
The dessert torte, although it looked wonderful, tasted like it had been pre-made and uncovered in the cooler and absorbed the other food flavors. The server graciously removed it.
Open table would not allow me to make a reservation for 1, so I made it for 2, but only attended alone. There were very few people in the room, so it wouldn't have been an issue of wasting a table on a single person.
This restaurant was great, and I would recommend it in particular for special occasions, business, or for the elderly. It was my grandmother's 92nd birthday and I was taking her to brunch after church. I wanted a place that was accessible without too much walking, had a high level of service and good food(she is a bit particular), and somewhere she could hear well! The terrace room provided notably patient, pleasant and high quality service, in a more quiet ambiance (though many patrons were eating), and the complimentary valet parking on Sundays made it very easy from an accessibility standpoint. The food was also quite good, mixing more traditional options with more modern fare. A great choice for this particular occasion.
