Stunning ambience. Nice large round table which enabled nice conversation. Felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant.
Food was blah at a very high price. Went there for a birthday dinner and will not go back for a special occasion.
The restaurant is beautiful and the menu is also very good. The service was less than stellar. It seemed as though the the restaurant was well understaffed. It took 15 minutes before our waiter came over to us and then it took a while to get a drink. Then he was gone again. I bet he was covering 8+ tables. Dinner was very good and I'd certainly go back because the food was the saving grace. The wine list is very reasonable and there are a lot of choices under $50.
The staff helped me promise to my girlfriend. The staff was AMAZING
We have dined many times over the past years and usually this was for special occasions like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The food was tasty and the choices were 4 times the usual amount. The wait staff seemed rush, overworked, and the overall service was not exactly what one would expect from a place of this stature. And lastly, the overall pricing to value is at the high end so that is why we only dine during special occasions.
Dined at the Terrace Room for Easter Brunch along with my husband and 5 year old daughter. The dining experience included a choice a soup/salad course, an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert from a special menu for $59.00. Children could eat for free from this menu but there weren't any child friendly options so we had to order her a meal from the main children's menu. The space is beautiful and the food was very good. Our waiter was friendly but messed up my daughter's order (I said pickles, no lettuce on cheeseburger and we got lettuce, no pickles) and then he totally screwed up my husband's and my dessert order. I asked for mine to go prior to bringing it out and he brought out my layer cake in a glass and then scooped it into a too large take out container. So It was just a messy blob plopped into a container. May try again.
Disappointing Easter brunch. Slow service despite the limited menu. Food was acceptable, but not worth the high price.
I made a reservation that clearly states Terrace Room on Open Table, but when we arrived we were escorted to a alternate ballroom for breakfast buffet only and told that we were not in the Terrace Room for the actual Easter Brunch that we had anticipated. Very disappointed.
Very nice, attentive waiter. The room is beautiful and we had a nice room - no need for a reservation - it was almost empty. My appetizer - tuna tartar which is one of my favorite things - was inedible. The waiter did not charge me. The crab cakes were perfectly fine, but certainly not blow you away or worth the 30 dollars.
Brunch was very good. Wait service was excellent and most accommodating.
The only down spot was,
Breakfast potatoes were cold. Otherwise very good brunch.
A GREAT Saturday Breakfast buffet. Everything you could want! Can order fresh pancakes and waffle off menu also!
I love that the place is classy and elegant but not intimidating. The staff are friendly, welcoming, warm (not snobbish like in some fine dining restaurants). The food was great -- I had steak and it was done perfectly. Having an accessible parking across the street is a plus.
Gorgeous space inside the Omni William Penn. Salad and burger were both terrific. Service attentive. Excellent Bloody Mary buffet at the bar on weekends. Would go back.
Outstanding atmosphere in a classic 1920's hotel. Great service and food. A little expensive but worth it. I ordered the fish tacos with the blue crab soup which were excellent.
Food was excellent for all 5 in our party, and the wait staff and other employees were gracious and courteous. The ambiance and beauty of the room really added to the atmosphere, and we never felt rushed despite a full dining room. Also a great place to have an after dinner drink adjacent to the restaurant.
Always ask for Albert. He's the best server & takes care of us. He makes the best cappuccino!
Nice place for business lunches.
The breakfast was filled with amazing tastes and varieties. All fresh and inviting, not only in flavor, but presentation. We'd make the trip JUST for your breakfast!! Enjoyed very much.
Wonderful variety of flavors to suit any appetite. Service was very friendly and helpful.
Dining room décor; outstanding! A very special place.
What the terrace room offers in space, ambiance, and service, does not translate to the menu. Our waiter was good at his role, speaking to the food and coming to check on us. Management did a good job, collecting items when he was occupied and things ran well. That is where the good ends. It was Valentine’s Day, and they elected to go with a pre-defined menu, with limited options, and food that was prepared earlier in the day. I would understand if the place was a zoo, but it was Valentine’s Day and they did not bring the dining area to capacity as my wife and I left around 8:00PM. They served a puff pastry of sorts to start. It ended up being a dry piece of dough, drizzled with lemon, and topped with 2 slices of red pepper. After, we proceeded with an order of the mushroom ravioli and blue crab soup. The soup was the tastiest thing we would eat all night. Had we known, we would of asked for double soup, and less sadness. The raviolis were dry on the edges and not flavorful or appetizing. They resembled a dish that had spent most of its time underneath McDonalds fry heat lamps. After that was a shot of berries and champagne. The berries became stuck and it tasted like a muddled champagne, it cleansed nothing. We then moved on to the entree which for her was linguini, scallops, and shrimp covered with a cream sauce. The sauce was bland and flavorless, but since you order everything to start we did not know this so we ran the gauntlet of 2 pasta dishes and got ran over. I had the lamb with vegetables and a potato cake. The potato cake was not bad. The lamb was ordered med-rare and came out like it had been left over the fire all night long. Grey the entire way through. It was a sad. Dessert was then served and I don’t remember much of that. We were already disappointed with everything. We didn’t finish the wine. Paid our 200+ dollar bill and went home. I would not recommend this place unless you are a guest at the hotel and prefer not to leave your room.
Very bad experience.. It took forever to get the food ready .. The food was not good at all .. they had some kind of event which was so noisy .. Snd at the end the credit card system was broke so we had to wait about 20 minuets to use the old paying system .. Overall I won’t recommend it for anybody
We went here for brunch to celebrate our anniversary but decided to get the breakfast buffet instead. They had scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy and an omelette station. They also had fruit, cheese, cereal, yogurt, deviled eggs, different breads with an array of butters and jams. The omelette was good but small. They ran out of shrimp and grits, cheese, bagels, and pastries and did not replenish which was disappointing. The server was very nice and attentive. The mimosa was good, the mojito was too sweet. The ambiance is great! They gave us our first two drinks on the house for our anniversary which was so nice!!
Service was excellent and the food was fantastic. Everyone had the filet, which was tender and delicious.
They were great in accommodating us even though the online reservation was not in their system! The staff is lovely!
The food was amazing! Great selection for food and drinks. The service was also wonderful! The breakfast buffet was out of this world! We will be back and I highly recommend!
Sunday brunch at the Terrace Room is one of our favorites. The choices range from unique to standard brunch fare. The service is always top-notch and it isn't too loud!
Our reservation was for 4:30 but we were made to wait an extra 25 minutes. There didn't appear to be the organization & control of previous years. The food was exceptional as always. Again they changed up the menu but everything was exceptional.
The restaurant is very elegant, the hotel is incredible but the ambiance was not a “young” environment. The meal courses were good and bad. We ordered two main entrees that we had to returned because pasta was not well prepared that day. After we received the new entree we noticed a difference, we preferred the tenderloin with smashed potatoes, the meat was amazing and incredible tender as it should be but the potatoes were instant and not real.
Overall we enjoy the experience but it isn’t a place I will return, besides the food there is some other factors in our decision.
My daughter and I have dined here before, and it's always enjoyable. It's convenient to the theater and other downtown attractions, which makes it a great place to eat when we are out for the evening. This time, though, I felt as if the menu was a little less impressive than it has been in the past, a little more standard "hotel restaurant" food with nothing that really stood out. Our meals were good, but I was looking for something a little less "meh." I had the prime rib, since I rarely have that when dining out, and it was very good (huge portion!). Our waiter provided us with impeccable service.
As always, The Terrace Room did not disappoint. Annual Holiday lunch with my mom.....if I lived in Pgh., I'd go there more often!!
This was our first time dining in the Terrace Room. We were very pleased with our experience. The salmon, sides, and salad were all delicious. They have a great selection of wines. Our server helped us make our choices. I'm sorry I can't remember our server's name but he did a wonderful job. Dinner was served at a nice pace. The room itself is beautiful and there is plenty of room between the tables. I would highly recommend the Terrace Room and look forward to eating there again.
Quiet, pleasant atmosphere where you can do business without distraction.
Great food, great staff, great service!
Lovely restaurant in a downtown hotel. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Great for conversation. Food is good but could be more creative.
Very expensive for a Turkey dinner.
Food was mediocre. Ambiance was good, with the exception of being seated too close to other patrons.
Our Thanksgiving was made perfect by the dinner and service at the Terrace Room! Half of our table chose the traditional turkey entree but others chose steak and seafood. We will be back! It’s gorgeous, too!
The setting for Thanksgiving Dinner is lovely; however, the food is a disappointment at best. Cols side dishes, sald drowning in dressing and entrees close to tasteless.
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at The Terrace Room and the menu was quite nice, including the autumn inspired cocktails. The food was good and we enjoyed the traditional sides and dessert being served "family style". The atmosphere was both fancy and comfortable. Our servers were pleasant and attentive, but we did wait a little longer than expected in between courses. Overall, a nice experience.
Visiting Pittsburgh for the first time, we wanted a special venue for Thanksgiving, and this was it. Lovely dining room, impeccable service and wonderful food! As special as it could have been!
I’ve been going to the Terrace Room for many years, especially on Thanksgiving. The Palm Court is beautifully decorated for Christmas, the food is always innovative and excellent, and the staff is a delightful mix of longstanding and experienced servers from around the world.
There is nothing about it that I don’t like.
I started going with my father, then my husband. Since they’ve both passed away, I now go with my son, who drives up from D.C. just for the occasion. We wouldn’t miss it.
The occasion was Thanksgiving dinner. We have been going to the Terrace Room regularly for several years. Our server was Dawn and she was terrific. Great food and great presentation!. The Terrace Room is always a treat. Wonderful meal!
