We had a reservation but ended up having to wait about 30 minutes for the table to get up. We were a large party so this was understandable. We went for Sunday brunch and decided on the buffet, for the inconvenience they comped the two children's buffets which was very nice and completely unnecessary. Over all the food was very good but slow to come out if something ran out. The hotel was sold out the night before so I'm sure they were busier than usual. Overall it was very pleasant and we will be back.
The terrace room is just beautiful! The service was exceptional. The menu offered many options but 2 of us had the sea scallops, boursin risotto with mushrooms and a bit of caviar, nice touch. The other person had crab cakes worth perfectly prepared asparagus. The cuisine was perfect, and the seafood spectacular. We will definitely return.
It was my wife's birthday and we were looking for an alternative to The Grand Concourse for a nice, quite Sunday brunch to celebrate the birthday. The "other place" is good, but it has certainly slipped over the years in both food quality and service.
We decided to try The Terrace Room as I go there frequently for business lunches.
We were 200% impressed with The Terrace Room and will be back (soon)!!! The service was impeccable, to food was awesome and the atmosphere was second to none. Old world feel with grand murals, high ceilings, etc.
Finally, both my wife and daughter are gluten free and dairy free. Plenty of options and the waiter and chefs take GREAT precautions to make sure that gluten and dairy were not a part of their meals.
A TRULY awesome experience. Give it a try!!!!!
I made a reservation for Brunch for Saturday, 12/7/19. All four of us ordered the buffet. The food was cold. The service not not good at all. There were several servers standing in the back corner of the restaurant. We had to wave someone over to refill our coffee. Our dirty plates were not removed from the table. We did not feel welcomed at all. There was a tree up but there was not a ‘holiday’ feeling at all. There should have been some type of holiday music playing. It seemed like it could have been a day in April. This is such a beautiful hotel but you are really dropping the ball!!! We will select another location for our Holiday or any brunch in the future.
The Terrace Room stands out as a unique dining destination in downtown Pittsburgh. The room has a sophisticated charm that harkens to the days of fine dining. The menu is varied, with options for both adventurous and traditional tastes, and the service is second to none. In an era when waiters and waitresses seem to either disappear once the order has been delivered, or seem determined to hurry each diner along, the staff at The Terrace Room is attentive and knowledgeable. Whether your visit to The Terrace Room is "simply a meal" or a special event, it is a venue that will exceed your expectations.
No complaints on this end of things! Everyone enjoyed their meal; dessert was delicious (biggest 'slice' of cheesecake I have ever been served). Personally, I enjoyed the leftovers I took home, for my Saturday lunch. It would be nice to see a few more variations on the menu, particularly the appetizers. Or maybe a half-sandwich/soup combo, some smaller lunchtime portions. Overall, it was another great lunch at the Terrace Room. Planning to suggest it for a Spring/Summer luncheon for our Management/Supervisory staff. Oh, and the wait staff did an excellent job!
Went to the Sunday brunch. Service was great but food was mediocre. We tend to go during the Christmas holidays because the hotel is decorated so beautifully. Will reconsider for next year. There are many Sunday brunches out there with better food.
Our service was great. However our entrees did not come as described and was lackluster in taste
We’d been trying for several years to get a reservation for Thanksgiving Dinner, but we’re always too late. This year we made it and we’re quite excited. On arrival we learned that the meal had been changed to buffet style - a huge letdown for us as we weren’t expecting that and had not been warned. The elegant experience we expected and were paying for did not happen. Clearly, the staff wasn’t properly prepared. We had to chase a manager down to get butter for our table and, when it finally arrived it was straight from the freezer and hard as a brick. Other small things like that were quite annoying.
Attentive waiters, beautiful atmosphere, & delicious food!
Absolutely awful Sunday breakfast buffet. Don’t waste your time.
It had a limited menu. Only two dinner entrees but it had a very limited buffet which we opted to do. Not enough waiters for the size of the room, so service was slow. Entrees ordered by others in group arrived 45 minutes after ordering. They ordered steaks Medium and Medium Well and got steaks Medium and Medium Rare.
Very busy due to Elton John concert. Very slow bar service & no time to order from menu due to slow service. Ate from buffet out of necessity not choice. We were staying at the hotel...very disappointed in the restaurant.
Full dining room but half enough staff. Say for 20 minutes before even being acknowledged.
Our reservation was for 6pm because we had tickets to the Elton John concert. We arrived at 6pm only to be told to wait for a table. We were not seated until 6:30 and were given a menu of sandwiches and snacks instead of the menu we looked at online. The waiter did not provide any water or take our order until 6:45pm. We waited for our drink order for another 20 minutes then our fool finally came at 7:20pm. The waiter never came back to the table with the mayonnaise for my club sandwich so I could only eat about a third of the sandwich without any additional water, I could not choke it down. My friend got her sandwich and accompaniments but never got to order a second drink. At 7:45 we put our coats on and finally flagged down the waiter and were forced to throw cash on the table and run to the concert. We missed the first 15 minutes of the concert because of the poor service. We even told the young lady seating us and the waiter that we were on a time crunch because we were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation, but obviously this went on deaf ears.
Bad food not what was expected will Never go back.
Always a good meal, very crowded today and still top notch service
Our waiter, Slavko, was wonderful. He was pleasant, remembered out orders, showed a sense of humor, and was responsive with water and drink refills. Very pleasant!
Good restaurant in a nice historic old hotel. Atmosphere is great. It wasn't busy for a Saturday night. But there was a function someplace else in the hotel which took some resources and parking. Even though the ad said free valet, the valet said there were no spaces and sent me to a parking garage. One block away, and only $4, so no problem. I was seated for about 15 minutes before I was able to grab the waiter and ask for a drink. He did oblige, but clearly not a priority. He finally loosened up and became more attentive. The menu is not extensive, but the meals that we had were really good. I did put on the reservation that it was our anniversary. Only after the bill came did I mention that we were celebrating. The waiter snatched the bill and removed the dessert. I wasn't looking for this when I mentioned the celebration, but if it's customary for the hotel, why not pay attention to the reservation? Anyhow, it was a lovely evening, and I would go back if looking for restaurant in the city.
The Terrace Room was great as usual, it was our fourth anniversary and we come back every year since having our wedding in one of the ballrooms in the Omni William Penn Pittsburgh.
The Terrace Room is a beautiful venue in a stunning Hotel. Our server was excellent. He was knowledgeable about the menu. My mother's sausage was way overcooked (actually it was burnt) and he replaced it immediately. We reminisced about some of the menu items that are no longer on the menu, the oldies, but goodies. The food was mediocre. We were there for Sunday brunch and had a traditional breakfast. It was a little blah and underwhelming for the price and the first 2 cups of coffee were luke warm, at $4.95, Starbucks seems like a bargain (our waiter was aware that I wasn't drinking my coffee and offered to bring me a fresh, hot cup, which was delicious.) I would definitely go back to the Terrace Room, however, I will make sure it is for lunch or dinner, where the choices seem to be better. It is an elegant room with a sense of grandness. Give it a try if you are in Downtown Pittsburgh.
As usual, the food and service were excellent - and perfect for a business lunch.
Disappointing. Restaurant was busy, so my guest and I both ordered burgers for lunch. I ordered my burger medium well. When it came it was rare inside and ice cold. On the second attempt, it was still not cooked and cold. Server was scarce. Although the Terrace Room is located in a large downtown hotel, it does not seem to be staffed in the dining room or the kitchen for a busy lunch crowd when there is a conference going on in the hotel. Many much better restaurant options close to the hotel.
Went for lunch on a Sunday to try it out. The hostess that seated us was lovely and very welcoming to our children whom we brought. They even got little pumpkins at the end of the meal.
It took a very long time for water, food, and silverware to arrive; waitstaff not apologetic. The corn beef hash had chewy corn beef and beets are that were hard and under cooked. Were it not for ambience, this would have had 1 star.
I went there this evening with a couple of my girlfriends because I was supposed to get married today, but my fiancé called the wedding off a week and a half ago. I happened to mention it to the staff whenever we were being seated. A little bit after we were seated, the managers walked up to our table, presenting us with a bottle of champagne, and said that it was on the house and that they hope we have a wonderful evening despite the circumstances. I started crying...happy tears though. I was just so touched by their gesture and was completely impressed by how special the entire staff made me feel tonight.
A very special place to treat our college daughter to an amazing buffet breakfast. The Terrace Room never fails to provide a memorable dining experience.
Beautiful venue. Nice and cozy. Able to have conversations without problems. Drinks were lovely and my husband loved his old Fashion. Prime rib was very good and my husband enjoyed his lobster pasta. Perfect getaway and made Pens game easily
Solid brunch options and a variety of options in addition to the buffet. Great spot downtown if you want to get a quick brunch in the middle of the city.
We generally eat here before a concert at PPG Paints Arena. I am always surprised that it is not more crowded because the food is very good and the dining room is beautiful. Much better than your typical hotel restaurant.
Best brunch in Pittsburgh!
Waiter was exceptional. Food and atmosphere was good.
We had a wonderful Birthday Dinner Celebration at the Terrace Room.
A perfect, relaxing break in the day. William Penn is always stellar!
Nice time out with great food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a great experience. The waiter is professional, friendly and helpful. Definitely will go there again.
I had looked at website for brunch which looked wonderful. Unfortunately that wasn’t what was served no omelet just scrambled eggs in a warmer nothing terrible but definitely not great
Great chef good service nice ambiance great hotel!
Food was superb, service is the best in the city, the wait staff is always on point, its like going back in time.
The farm table was disappointing. Only about 1/2 as many choices as usual. Did not live up to billing. One of us had a burger which was not tasty—the food was overall average at best. Not up to terrace room standards. Need to do much better!!
Absolutely lovely, relaxing and delicious dinner - service was excellent and especially attentive to our 5 year old granddaughter.
