Dinner before a concert. Food and service were very good!
Celebrating friends engagement.
Nice ambience. Bison tenderloin excellent, perfect medium rare, served on bed of yummy asparagus purée and served with roasted baby carrots. My friend’s home style dinner of three generous pieces of Southern fried chicken, buttered peas, and pimento cheese grits looked delicious, also. Food-wise my only complaint is that the softened butter served with the chewy bread had been mixed with honey which, although I know many love that flavor, it’s just not my thing. Our server brought me some plain butter, but it was too hard to spread. I recommend reservations. We were there early on a Sunday evening and although not crowded when we arrived, the place was nearly full when we left. I will be returning!!
My fiancé and I chose The Tavern for our Valentine’s Day dinner and we both really enjoyed it. It was our first visit so we had to try a bit of everything. The cheese and sausage to start was absolutely delicious! They also bring out complementary bread with herbed butter. I had the filet, which was perfectly cooked and my fiancé had the salmon. For dessert we shared and apple pie tartlet with sour apple ice cream made in house. All was fantastic. The atmosphere is very cozy but a little on the loud side. Service was attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back, and also want to try their sister restaurant Bull In the Alley, which is right next door.
The food was outstanding! Everyone at our table loved what they ordered!
We had a great meal with friends and the service was amazing!
Enjoyed an excellent business lunch with a job candidate from New York City.
The Tavern was absolutely delightful. The food was very delicious and the service was excellent. I will definitely be returning.
We went to the Tavern to celebrate my birthday. We had a large group of nearly twenty, and our serving staff was phenomenal and kept up with everything that was going on while making sure everyone was attended to. Our food was phenomenal, and the service was incredibly timely - which was really impressive as there were so many of us there. Would definitely choose to eat at the Tavern again!
They always have amazing food and drinks. The menu changes seasonally which I love. There is something new to try every time I visit.
Fantastic service from Cicco. Pork chops and mushroom pasta were delightful.
The Tavern is always a great "go to" spot for special occasions or a reliable place to eat where you know the food is going to be great. The service is friendly and quick too!
I have been to The Tavern numerous times. My experience (actually, my mother's experience) on October 22 was the first time I've ever had a negative experience. My experience differed greatly from my mother's, so my rating is an average of our experiences.
Mother had the omelet, which was definitely a miss for her. She complained that the omelet was improperly seasoned like the seasonings hadn't been thoroughly incorporated into the eggs. She said it seemed like each bite differed, with some bites being bland, others being extremely salty or spicy. Mother felt the salmon in the omelet was dry, and she commented that the spinach had been added without par-cooking ahead of time. She did not like this, even though this seems to be part of the current raw food fad. Mother complained that her coffee was weak, saying it tasted like "dishwater" (her words). She did state her accompanying breakfast potatoes were delicious. Mother acknowledged that this was the first time in multiple visits to the tavern that the food disappointed her. She was hoping this was just a one-off. Nevertheless, she won't be ordering the omelet again.
On the other hand, I could not have been more pleased with the Tavern Burger. I had heard raves about the burger, so decided it was time to try it for myself. The burger came just as I ordered it, medium. The melted stilton cheese was wonderful, as was the pretzel bun. This is a large burger, so arrive hungry! The burger was so well seasoned and flavored by the cheese that I did not add any ketchup, which I usually do. The burger was accompanied by shoestring fries, seasoned just right with salt and fresh rosemary.
The service was outstanding. The server took mother's omelet and coffee off our bill, even though we never requested this. The staff was genuinely concerned about my mother's disappointment.
Despite my mother's experience, I will be back. I had a delicious burger, and I believe Mother's experience was an exception.
We had an excellent evening at The Tavern. We started with drinks at the bar, while we waited for our friends. The bar was pretty full, but our bartender was great and very attentive. In the dining room our server was amazing! She gave us great suggestions and was very knowledge. The food was 5 star!! The ambiance really just pulled it all together. Such a great evening. We'll be back.
Great place to take out of town people or a date. Also love their Sunday brunch and bloody Mary’s
We arrived and it was a pretty slow evening. Great service, everything came out very fast! Between drinks, apps, and entrees we wee never looking around for our waitress. My husband got the goulash and it was exceptional. I hap the grouper, which was excellent but a little salty. The kale definitely helped balance it out.
Steak frites was the best I've had in a long time, maybe ever.
Booked the Tavern for son and his date for Homecoming. Enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and the portion size was great (he had steak, she had porkchop). Loved the valet as well. We will be back.
Terrible food and terrible service!
My friend and I went here before a concert and I was excited because it had good reviews and a personal recommendation. I was disappointed by the cocktail, the food, and the service. The establishment itself has a cool vibe and I enjoyed the ambiance. We both ordered a bacon infused old fashioned and it tasted like bad, cheap whiskey. There was no indication that the whiskey was bacon infused nor that it was an old fashioned. We also ordered the Sunday dinner and I got the fried chicken with white meat only. The chicken was lukewarm and dry. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a cafeteria and I couldn't tell if the carrots were supposed to be firm or if they were just undercooked. This experience was disappointing and I will try something else next time I'm in Tulsa.
We had a group of 6 people and the appetizers, main course and dessert all outstanding! Our server was fun and attentive and the drinks kept flowing! Great place to celebrate a birthday!
Food was not great and pretty expensive. We were sitting about 1 foot from other tables and could hear other conversations.
Fresh ingredients and delicious food set in a relaxed yet sophisticated space. My kinda place!
Excellent steak! Great table service as well. Alwsys enjoy dining there.
Excellent food and excellent food service and bar service.
Our server was amazing and the food delicious. We had the steak frites and a side of bacon green beans. Very good!
Great service and food! The Tavern burger and frites are amazing!
Absolutely loved the burger and fries! Great service, atmosphere, food and drinks. Will be going back soon!
Overall good experience, but do not feel we got our money's worth. We will return to try the "famous hamburger".
Steak was a bit overdone as I ordered medium rare. Served medium. I still ate the whole thing because it was delicious! For a $38 steak I thought it should have been cooked to order but would still recommend this place. Comped me my martini which was super nice.
Second time. Took husband there for birthday. Burgers were not near as good this time vs a couple months ago. Very disappointed. Waitress had huge group besides us. Poor service
Loved the atmosphere! The service was great and the food was excellent. We had the blue cheese dip and chips to start, then the pork chop and catfish for our main dishes. Definitely recommend trying this place out!
I recently started working in downtown Tulsa and this place was recommended to me for lunch with my husband. We loved the selection and the sandwiches were huge and definitely worth the price. I didn't love the tiny fries but my husband did and our sandwiches were amazing. We already have plans to return in the future.
We have eaten at the Tavern several times but the Pork Chops on Friday were exceptionally good. Exciting to have something that was remarkable and not just good.
Service was slow at start but after she checked in everything was great. Will definitely return!!
Walked in with no reservation and was told we could not be seated. Walked outside and opened the app and booked a reservation for 15 minutes later.
Very loud (not in a good way) and the service was really slow.
Food was not bad, it just didn't stand out. Will most likely avoid in the future.
Reliable, creative, innovative and always dependably tasty!
We stay in the Brady District when we visit Tulsa. The Tavern is across the street from our hotel, so we have been here several times. Good, varied menu, steak, pork, chicken, fish American cuisine. Food is well prepared and tasty. Make reservations for weekends. Very busy. Hectic. Only complaint, felt rushed...for the price of the food, I don't want to be rushed. We'll return again.
Our first time downtown and had followed some recommendations from the website and hotel staff...perhaps I had my hopes up too high? It was ok. The host needed to be sent home to wash his hair...seriously not appealing to start with! We were seated promptly which was nice. Took a bit for our waiter to get to us. We knew we wanted the 'famous' burger so ordered right away. Waiter recomemded a great wine. The Moscow mule was not good. The drinks didn't come until after our food and we had to ask for them again. Wait was 20 minutes which I guess isn't bad. Ordered medium, were medium well; dry and not impressive. Bread was tasty. Frites...ugh. Think we will venture elsewhere next trip!
