We've been here several times, had been awhile. Great night for outside dining. Like many places, short on staff, the server was frazzled and apologized several times. We were fine, nowhere to be, enjoyed the beautiful night. I had made the res for 4 people online, looked over the menu, had my heart set on crab cakes, were not on the menu, apparently the one online is very dated. Had the scallops, were good. Others seemed to enjoy their meals (salad, flatbread, and chicken fingers...). One person is a big dessert person. Recall last time they had only 1 dessert, this time 2. I got one he got the other. Both good.
Really good food and excellent service. We went upstairs to the piano bar after dinner and loved it also
I’m so glad this place survived the pandemic. Great drinks awesome burgers snd fun atmosphere. Love it!
The service was genial and the food was delicious. Great venue to eat, drink and people watch. Fun night!
We love coming to Tavern; we eat there several times per year. The food is very good, and the menu is basic but very enjoyable. Servers are always friendly and accommodating. Their biggest issue (before the pandemic and since the reopening) is that they are always in a rush, and they rush their diners. We almost always receive our entrees before we’ve had enough time to finish our appetizers. That’s not always terrible, but their indoor tables are quite small, so there isn’t room for all the tableware with cocktails, apps, and entrees. We hope that they learn that dining can be a relaxed experience — especially when they don’t have a ton of diners, and people aren’t rushing off to the theater or other activities after dinner. Try the Tavern for sure, but be prepared to have to manage the kitchen yourself.
The Tavern is an adorable place, very quaint. The menu was not very limited
Great outdoor dining. Menu small but the food is very good. Great drinks! Service was very good. Fun girls night out.
Our server was so kind and wonderful. We had to sit inside due to rain, but even so, the social distancing was enough for comfort. Food was delicious! The menu is limited but everything we had we loved.
Their Brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing. The dry martini with blue cheese stuffed olives received rave reviews from my husband, and they make a mean Titos Rose Kennedy as well. I think we found a go-to.
We sat outside and had Michael as our waiter. He was wonderful, got everything we needed and more!!! Food was great! Drinks were also amazing!
Cozy cellar dining with excellent drinks and meals. Limited menu but all well done
The burgers and salads were fabulous! What a quaint dining area - down below.
Love this place great entrees NY Strip was better than or at least as good as anuSteak houses in Philly I have been to and love the buffalo cauliflower! The short bartender makes a mean Long Island Iced tea.
We celebrated a birthday. We had to sit outside, and it was cool. The outdoor heater was helpful, but the website on Open Table did not specify that dining w I’ll be outdoors.
Service was very attentive, food was great.
Great place to have a night out for any occasion. Delicious Food, environment is super chilled, and the service is welcoming and excellent. Highly recommend!
A great dining experience. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. We ate outside, and it is quite spectacular, some of the best outdoor dining in the city. I hope they can keep it that way post Covid. Also the staff were all very observant of Covid prevention measures and felt absolutely at ease on that front. Food was good (loved the deviled eggs).
I booked a table for two at 7 o’clock for Friday Oct 30 on open table. When we arrived at the restaurant they said that they did not have a table for us and that they only take reservations by phone. They offered to set us at 8:30.They also said they were having trouble with OpenTable continuing to take reservations for them even though they had tried to eliminate the app. They said they had lots of people come in who they had to turn away. We didn’t eat all day and anticipating this dinner. Very disappointing. If you want to eat here do not use OpenTable.
The outdoor seating is a nice addition to Camac St. Good ambiance and efficient/friendly service.
The perfect place to grab drinks, enjoy fantastic food and have perfect service. All for a great price.
We ordered the autumn salad and miso salmon. Everything was delicious. The portions are very generous. The one salad we shared was enough for more than two people. We ate outside and enjoyed the heaters for a little warmth. Service was terrific. This was our first time and we will return!
Great food and experience! Plan on going back many more times.
Had a splendid time! Tarmac is adorable with outdoor seating
Beautiful outdoor dining set-up on Camac street
Food and service are great, and pick a night when Michael, Donald, or any of their outstanding piano players are on. Martinis are great here!
Still not ready for inside dining, even at now 50%, so made outside reservation. Was a cool night, could have benefitted from heat lamps, but most probably cost prohibitive with everything else. Drinks were good, food good too, only had 1 dessert, was ok. Server was very nice. Not sure how restaurants, servers, etc. are doing it these days. We try to support as often as we can. It was a nice night out.
Due to COVID -19 it limited things, but the service was great the service the waiters/ service staff made up for everything , there are some great talented singers here. I would return . food was fresh from the oil, and they are very attentive to needs.
Friendly servers! Drinks are great and they’re quick! It’s a really nice place
Four friends got together for dinner at Tavern.
Two of us shared appetizers of Roasted Butternut Squash Salad and Flatbread. Both were tasty and of ample size. Our friends had the Wedge Salad, also ample and delicious.
For entrees, my dining partner had the Crab Cake , which he said was very good, and the others had Pan Seared Salmon. They arrived with Polenta and Rainbow Swiss Chard. Done to perfection, it made for a fun dining experience that we agreed would be worth repeating.
It was a fun easy dinner. I would go back. The only problem we had was there was a cold breeze blowing from the air vent. They tried to close the vent, but it was still there. It was drafty through the whole dinner, and a man at the table next to ours had to put on his hat he was so cold.
That said, food was good, staff tried hard to fix the cold problem, and I liked the cozy nature of the Tavern.
We have been to the Tavern many times. We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries there. We have taken important out-of-town clients and bosses to the Tavern and always been more than pleased with our experiences. However, we were somewhat disappointed with this visit.
We had a reservation, which is always a good idea for the Tavern. The ambiance was delightful. It is truly a very old Tavern and looks much the same way it did 200 years ago.
We were seated right away, but waited a good 15 minutes before our server even acknowledged we were there, even though she was attending to tables right next to us. It was another 30 minutes before we ordered.
We both ordered our usual seafood stuffed filet and baked potato. I truly believe the kitchen lost our order, because 4 tables who were seated after us, and ordered after us, got their food 10-15 minutes before we did.
When our food finally did get to us, my husband’s baked potato was cold and our medium rare filet mignon was a nice pink medium!!! It had been about 2 years since we had been to the Tavern, and I must say we were disappointed.
We drove an hour to get there and of course, an hour back home, and spent close to $200 on the meal.
We will go back and give it another try, but I don’t think I will get the filet again. Maybe the scallops!
Great food! Nice cozy place.
The food was outstanding and our waiter was fabulous! I can’t wait to go back!
Great option in Philadelphia! Dining area is small so make a reservation. Jamie, our server, made the night! We had a wonderful evening!
The martini's were immense. Food was very good. Tasty meatloaf, roasted brussel sprouts, shrimp cocktail. Nice portions, reasonable prices and fantastic service on a very busy Friday night. What's not to like? We are definitely going back again.
worst meal and service in over 25 years of philadelphia dining - in 75 minutes all we got was a round of drinks / no one came to refresh the first round drinks for over 75 minutes and no one came to tell us our food was over an hour late to the table - food was unseasoned and resembled boiled dog food - never going back again
New Years. Great food
Very cozy restaurant with a pleasant, fun staff.
Friendly staff, delicious food. A little hidden but worth the search.
Delicious food in a cozy and intimate setting. Our waitress was excellent.
Excellent as always. Michael takes great care of us. Consistent. Lovely.
