Very poor service from hostess made us wait, forgot we were there, forgot our name, generally just treated poorly. Left and walked out. Sad. We have enjoyed this restaurant for several years. Not sure we will go back.
I requested a quiet table in the restaurant—- our first table assigned was in the middle of traffic. Had to ask for another table before we were seated

We sat in the middle of the room. Very, very busy a little hard to have a conversation. Food had great taste, but was warm instead of hot when it arrived at the table.
We were referred by a friend who daughter attends Washington University. She went to the Tavern in the Central West End and was impressed. We tried the West County location and were equally impressed. Excellent food, creative and presented with a flair.
Good experience, staff was hospitable and helpful, the food was good but in comparison to reviews we had seen we expected better. My Pork Chop was good and my wife’s burger were both good but nothing to write home about. The sides left quite a lot to be desired, my wife’s tater tot casserole I think it was called was way overloaded with sour cream which overpowered everything else in the dish. My asparagus was excessively covered in butter reduction along with ham and egg? Also the au gratin that came with my pork chop seemed overloaded with butter as well. Staying simpler with the dishes instead of going overboard trying to be different/upscale/fancy in terms of the food would be an improvement here. A simple olive oil, salt and pepper prep for the asparagus would be tons better...maybe do some blind question asking to patrons what they think about the massive butter content of menu items and if they could improve would be a step in the right direction.

The evening was to celebrate a birthday and The Tavern did not disappoint. This was the first time for the person celebrating her birthday and she absolutely loved it! The scallops were delicious and fixed beautifully. Another entree was the tasting board and that was highly enjoyed and everything fixed wonderfully. The tasting boards are such a great way to try different entrees. I tried the pork chop which was good. This is the first time in many times coming to the Tavern that I would not necessarily rave about the dish. The meat was good but I was not as thrilled with the combination. To me, this dish was good but not unusual or outstanding. The wine suggested was perfect and of course the birthday dessert, which was the chocolate cake with homemade coffee ice cream. We will definitely be returning.
Eaten there many of times all good results this past weekend the food was not up to your standards at all very disappointed in two different courses
We have eaten here a handful of times since we live 5 minutes from it. The ambiance and service is great. On our last visit we were seated immediately, a server came very quickly, our food came out hot also very quickly...if anything our service and food were maybe too quick! We were in and out in 35 minutes but were on a date and definitely not in a hurry. The skillet bread is wonderful, my house-made Sangria was phenomenal, the Romaine Salad was boring and dry (couldn't tell if it had any dressing at all), the Surf and Turf Tasting board was beautiful but all were lacking salt/seasoning in my opinion. Overall it was a bit of a disappointment for a $75 dinner.
We always love coming to this restaurant. The food is always great, staff is friendly. We were seated at the counter overlooking the kitchen and it is truly amazing how friendly and efficient the staff is with cooking, plating and serving the food. We get to enjoy great food and a great show by sitting in that location. The short ribs are always amazing and the desserts are truly wonderful. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

The presentation of the food was good, but it wasn't worth the price. My wife and I both tried the sampler meals. The food was good, but nothing special. The only reason I give the overall score a 3 and not a 2 was because of the dessert. The half baked cookie was very good. With the prices being charged, the food should have been much better.
We went on Valentine's Day. They were busy but we still had fast and excellent service, immediately were seated with our reservation. We did end up getting seated next to the bathrooms with no view of their famous open kitchen, but it was at least quieter. Our server was knowledgeable and patient in explaining the menu. I was disappointed that the holiday menu did not allow for substitutions for our gluten-free dietary needs but we still had plenty of choices. All of our food was excellent, far exceeding my expectations. The price is definitely something to raise an eyebrow at (Apps, Dinner, Wine and Dessert = $150) but I will definitely go again for a special occasion. We had a great evening.
Second visit in about a years time. I recommend this place to those looking for a restaurant they’ve never been to and want something different than chain.

Everything was excellent! Been there more than a few times. First time i brought our own bottle of wine, was charged a $25 corkage fee a little hefty I believe, same as Kreiss. Usually a 10-15 dollar fee, and if server knows you and you order a drink, they drop the corkage fee. I do not tip on that fee.

Never disappoints. Had not been to the Valley Park location in several years and I believe it improved on the great experiences I recall from my past. It was good to see some old standby favorites and several new items on the menu. It amazes me that other fine dinning establishments have not opened in the area. The Tavern bravely led the way in southwest county and others have failed to follow their lead. Based upon the crowds, the market would support others.
The Tavern never disappoints. The food and the servers are consistently excellent.
Four of us had the place nearly to ourselves on a Sunday night....so it was like a little private dinner party, great service and terrific food....great burger, sampler, beet salad and wine of course!

It was new year's and closed too early. Felt rushed to pay and go. Could have received better dining service as well.
Always a treat to go here for a special occasion without having to get all dressed up. We both had tasting boards (surf and turf and oak plank) and enjoyed the variety and amount of food. Good wine selection and a very good old-fashioned cocktail.
We had an incredible New Year's Eve at the Tavern. The food and drinks were amazing! Our waiter was excellent too. It was an expensive evening, but worth it!

Went to The Tavern for NYE with my husband and another couple. My husband likes their cheeseburger because it’s the most All-American food you can find on the menu. The cheeseburger was gone for the holiday and replaced with a 70.00 dollar steak. I guess I should of checked the menu before making reservations. He got a tasting board and tried to eat what he could. I think our friends liked the salad and cookie dessert the most. Probably won’t be back for a while.
Service was great. They treated my 6 year old daughter with great respect. Poutine app and bread were great. Tasting board was good, but 3 of 4 items were lukewarm. We will be back, but it was expensive considering the lukewarm tasting board.
