The Tavern Kitchen & Bar - West Ratings and Reviews
This is one of my favorite places to go. My wife and I love coming here for special occasions, or just for evenings that we want amazing food. We have always had wonderful service, and the desserts are absolutely amazing!
It started quiet, got packed, pretty boisterous crowd for a Thursday, which was terrific. My regular server was there, Mike is absolutely perfection in service personified. Completely chill, and attentive at once. great recommendations.
The Tavern has always been my #1 favorite restaurant in St. Louis. The food is always delicious, menu changes regularly but it seems the older favorites are always still available. Best of all, you are served more than enough. Not a fan of small plates with 2 bites of decorative food. The service is always warm and inviting and I have never been made to feel like a pain if I try to change something about a main course. The drinks and wine/beer list is impeccable too!
I would recommend this restaurant to families (my 2 young children were always spoiled by the servers), business dinners, family get together, date night, or just hanging out with friends. You won't be disappointed!
A party of 4 enjoyed different dishes, the exception was our pear salad starter which was outstanding. Gotta have the cinnamon donut holes w- super yummy whipped cream. The Tavern never disappoints but crowded Enugu to feel hip and still enjoy conversation w/ friends. A perfect evening.
My wife and I have been here three times and it is consistently good. The service is jovial, respectful, knowledgeable, and fast. Their timing of courses is perfect.
The atmosphere is quite nice in that it is upscale, but lacks the pretense of other places.
They use quality ingredients and their kitchen staff is accurate and consistent. They also rotate out their menu. If you get the chance, their meatloaf is delicious -- yes, that's right.
Can't recommend it highly enough.
This is a West County hotspot! Very creative menu especially the tasting boards. They let you sample 3-4 menu items - very generous serving size! It’s comfortable, but maybe a little loud. Our waitress was a pro, and she knew the answers to all of our menu related questions. Freshest fish in town!
Just visiting inlaws in the county and wanted a vibrant, nice place for dinner. The food was excellent! My with and MIL shared the seafood plank, which is a sampling of 3 popular dishes. I had the short ribs on polenta. They were off the bone and melted in your mouth.
I would highly recommend this place for those wanting good, healthy food!
This was my fifth time to dine at The Tavern, so that should say enough. Great menu. Great service. Nice ambiance. For us, The Tavern is a local upscale restaurant allowing us a lovely night out without having to drive to Clayton or Chesterfield Valley. Highly recommend the beet salad!
We are fairly regular diners at The Tavern. We have come to expect a very good dining experience and they delivered. My wife enjoyed a salad and the Sushi Roll. I had the Sesame Seared Mahi Mahi. A great destination in West County.
We have been twice and both times were exceptional. The surf and turf sushi roll is phenomenal. Every entree we have had has been excellent as well. The service is also wonderful. We really enjoy this restaurant for a nice, relaxing, and delicious date night!
Tavern Kitchen menu has changed since the last time I was there, 3 years ago. The menu is not as varied and is a bit more limited. The service is perfect, the atmosphere is very nice and the price for the menu items is within range for what you get and the presentation of the meal. I do not drink wine so I cannot give feedback on that part. It was nice to see them open the retail space next to the original area, giving them more guests at one time. Our server was outstanding.
We have always loved the Tavern but the last two times we have been there, we have been disappointed. The food used to be top notch but I would say it’s just average now. My steak was undercooked, but my daughter and husband’s steaks on their tasting boards were both over cooked. The food was just lukewarm when we got it. Still really good service, except we had to wait an unusually long time to get the check.
This is our third visit to the Tavern, and it was disappointing. Our server was very friendly , but very busy. Took a long time to get noticed once we were seated. Drinks took a long time to get to the table. Food was just okay this visit. One order was the rib eye special, and a steak knife was brought to the table at least 10 mins after our entrees were served. Steak was under cooked. Ordered medium, but was medium rare at best. With other great dining options in town, not sure if we will return.
Very good food. Was disappointed with the salmon but the filet, tuna, and chicken portions of the tasting board were excellent. Only complaint about service is the courses came out too quickly and didn't lend itself to a very leisurely pace.
