The Tasting Room Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I discovered the Tasting Room about two years ago while traveling. We have dined there five times and each time the experience has been wonderful. The food is creative and always a treat. The wait staff is attentive and very helpful. Prices are moderate considering the quality of the food. This is a great little gem of a restaurant.
Four of us went at lunchtime to celebrate a birthday. We had requested a table by the window, which was ready for us when we arrived at 11:30. Our server, Toni, was very helpful and responsive. She refilled our coffee frequently. Each of us enjoyed our meal and found the menu to be one we would like to revisit. We were too full for dessert, but Toni brought us a small chocolate sorbet with strawberries with a lit candle on top for the birthday girl. What a nice surprise. Four spoons came with it without asking!! Will definitely go there again. However, I got a dinner menu by accident, and I think I'll be going for lunch most often. The dinner menu is pretty pricey.
I always enjoy the TR. Food is consistently good as are the drinks. The table behind us were drinking and b came extremely loud.
But those darn chairs are uncomfortable. Please, please buy chairs that one can sit on longer than 15 minutes. I have not. Even to the Tasting Room in over a year because of the chairs even though I enjoy the restaurant.
This outstanding restaurant is definitely worth the drive to Frederick! The menu choices, food & service are wonderful. A reservation is a must as the restaurant is on the small side and, especially on weekends, packed. The cost of a meal is within reason but not inexpensive. If a couple have appetizers, entrees & desserts expect to pay north of $100. Add drinks, tax & gratuity and the cost will be more but probably still under $200. We don't go there often but feel that we are getting are money's worth when we do go. An additional plus is that if the weather is pleasant, taking a walk on Frederick's main street of unique shops either before or after dining is an added bonus.
It has been years since we had eaten at the Tasting Room. We selected to return when we were in Frederick on Nov. 4, 2017. My husband and I were meeting my cousin, and her family there. We all agreed that it was a wonderful lunch! Nice menu, great service, and a good price point. Our server Toni was such a delight.
The TASTING ROOM remains my favorite dining establishment in Frederick and pretty much the entire nation. We had 3 superb Filets (just go there and order it...it's the BEST ever!) with the Potatoes Au Gratin. Our waiter, Justin, remains my favorite waiter in the place as his wine suggestions are always on point and he just provides spectacular service. He's the type of waiter that others need to model in terms of professionalism and friendliness. He makes your night special! The food here is hands down the best value in town.
Very enjoyable spot to get together for a friend's birthday. I had anticipated an upscale experience and was not disappointed. Our server was very attentive without hovering. It was relatively empty when we first arrived at noon on a Saturday, so did not feel rushed. My friends from out of town said that it was worth the drive and we would definitely go back.
This is the third time we've eaten at The Tasting Room. The two previous experiences were very good, which is why we came back again. The review above reflects a the fact that with the exception of the one steak entry we ordered, everything was really good, but the rib eye came our tepid, although the plate was hot, and over cooked. The waiter apologized and offered to have another one prepared, but we were already 1 1/2 into the meal and we didn't want to wait. So it really kind of ruined the dining experience. The waiter offered complimentary desert, which we split, but to be honest it would have been classier to have removed half or all of the cost of the $60 steak, given its poor preparation.
